the fact that a bottle of sauce took so long to design, from the anti drip, grip, size, feel, fall protection... this just proves how important design is and I shad a happy tear just there =)

If you just pour, these bottles *do* drip (after you stand them up again). However, the trick to reducing that is to place your finger on one end of the lid to control the flow. This should keep everything pretty tidy.
I was disappointed that the lid wasn't even really mentioned.

There r a lot of soy sauce on the market that have more flavor, color so I wouldn’t say kikkoman soy sauce it’s the best. But tastes differs from one person to another

Actually 3 year in making concept, Testing and designing, private group test and studies, etc... Designing stuff for a company isn't as easy as you think. It take a ton of research and dedication. And around his time there is no Internet. So how would you design something without research.

Josué Barrientos No? Companies are just as responsible for a long R&D cycles as the designers. It makes no sense for a company to rush a designer or accept a design that doesn't fit their specifications. You know the development cycle for major smartphones is more than 3 years, right? That the iPhone X took 5 years to design?
8-Bit-Eevee he was being sarcastic. Anyone who've done design work with big corporations knows that they usually have unrealistic deadline and vision to be implemented for the final design.
Japanese companies are different in their contracts. Trust and long term contracts are more common and also expected. Companies are expected to take care of their employees
Also, If you plug one spout with your finger as your pour out the other, you can control the flow of sauce onto your food/ bowl

I grew up with that bottle but once for 2 years we didn't have one which made us unhappy since the replacement was bad.
When we got a new one of these, I was happy with my soy sauce again

Pretty bottle, no doubt. But, it's totally impractical. It's difficult to hold and pour. It drips. The hole in the cap allows air to enter the bottle and releases the sauce's aroma into the room, continually. The bottle might impress guests, though.

Try Tabasco Soy Sauce. Mixture of pepper sauce and soy sauce. Wonderful.

Design makes a difference: Kenji Ekuan wanted to convey happiness in the enduring, very popular design of the Kikkoman soy sauce bottle, especially after having witnessed (and survived) the devastation of the atomic bomb on his hometown Hiroshima.
After 3 years he should to find system automatically close after using, preventing airing, loss of aroma, drying out, getting insects, dust, bacteria and more...

It's easy to say that many decades after it's already familiar, but it's hard to design something that just works really well. Few would come up with this design if it wasn't already invented.

Have to admited that Japanese soy sauce is very tasty compared to the Chinese ones.

Chinese light and dark soy sauce is used for cooking. We don't consume it 'raw'. For dumplings, we use Chinese vinegar.
