I personally feel like a lot of magic animations and sound effects really peaked in Final Fantasy VIII. There's a power and flashiness to some of the stronger spells that they haven't really replicated since.

In fact FF8 probably has some of the best status spells in the entire series via Aura/Meltdown/Triple/etc, and other high level magic like Curaga/Full-Life and Ultima/Meteor/Holy/Flare/etc are also perfectly fine.

Lastly, the god of all offensive magic in this game Meteor.. will deal 14,000 single casted and 42000!! under triple status. So yeah people FFVIII is a bad example of a game with weak magic. Even magic based limits like 'The End', 'Meteor Wing, and Degenerator are op'd.
I sort used be same but in end I just used what I needed and got magic from GF abilities. But end game all you really need is haste and aura lol. Still love the magic though.

After the beginning I always had some magic that I could use without any consequences. It adds a bit more strategy to battles as well. This is definitely my favourite ff game now.

i loved FF8 but if there's anything about it i didnt like its that to multitarget various spells we had to be under the effects of double or triple................. im glad that 8 was one of if not the only game in the series that did this with the majority of player usable spells
@@bogymanthedark yea especially once you got access to shit like auto-haste and whatnot...... honestly if there was anything i think they shoulda done to improve the magic system in 8 is make it so we can aoe any magic like pretty much every other spell in the franchise barring a few exceptions, and in the event of double/triple let them keep their multicast effects but should we choose to aoe them their damage gets reduced but only while under double/triple...... otherwise remove the junction system in a manner similar to the crystal mod for both old school FF8 and FF8 remaster and that would make it at least somewhat more enjoyable
The game has a cheat mode where it gives back all your health, makes you able to act without waiting for your turn, and gives you limit break at any time.
That part where two party members are dead and the enemy casts STOP on the only remaining party member alive... is just so sad and frustrating :D CHANDELIER
She can be in your party any time during after the great salt lake excursion in disc 3 :^) Although she's temporary and only stays in your party up until your first venture into lunatic pandora in disc 3.

Why does Squall look like he is a 14 year old middle schooler in the remaster ugh?! Everything else looks fine but him. I mean I may be able to tolerate playing the remaster but likely not.. I'll most likely stick with the original psx copy I have.
I've beaten this game and haven't seen 90% of the spells. This shows how the junction system was an awful mechanic. I would save them them rather use a single spell.

He does not. Squall in the original game was a 17 year old teenager but his features were more masculine and mature looking. Squall in the og looked like he was 25 years old. In the remaster he looks softer featured and younger.. like 14 years old.@@BloomPlays

Turns out "Thundara" skill was changed name into "Escaped..." On Remastered
No, the issue was that one of the cactuars escaped at the same time of the casting. Therefore it didn't show thundara message.

Yes. Square Enix was being lazy with this one. All the character models look good but they could have made the areas in the game look better too.
