Yeah, he was still broken up with Yoko at this point. The session he talked about where he played with Paul is called the Toot and Snort sessions. You can probably find some recordings from it of John and Paul singing together. It's the only recording of them ever singing together in the 70s. I use to have it on my old ipod when I found it on Limewire back in the day lol.
Yoko seemed to be willing to do anything to keep him from his previous partners (The Beatles) and his former family (Julian and Cynthia). His year and a half with May Pang shows his true inclinations regarding all those people: no ill will, no arguments, no public letters and songs excoriating them all. And visits with them all, Paul, Cynthia, Julian ... Then, the moment he gets back with Yoko it's all gone again. May was a jewel he should have stayed with then. A very secure loving woman, like Cynthia, who only had John's best interests at heart. She even ended up friends with Cynthia til the end. Like George and Eric. Yoko was far too controlling to let John have anyone in his life from his past. Because on some level, she must have sensed she couldn't compare with any of the Beatles as his musical partner, nor with Cynthia as his truly loving wife. So she just installed John at the Dakota and kept them ALL away. Whatever she needed to do she did -- didn't pass along phone messages, didn't mail postcards, told John her "astrologer" told her Paul was only visiting him to rub his success in his face, kept John well supplied with drugs, sent him on "trips" around the world, took him away to Japan for months at a time -- but never England, never Liverpool, never a visit to his son, or his aunties, or sisters ... So this is maybe one of the last times we see the real John and how he naturally felt about things.
And it's telling that the second he got back with Yoko, she began calling that year and a half breakup "HIS LOST WEEKEND" at once trivializing it to the status of a weekend, and taking a few out-of-control nights out to stand for the whole thing -- to put forth the fiction that he didn't know what he was doing then, and that he was miserable without her - - clearly from this interview, neither of which was true!! But that's the PR she demanded.
Im not sure who the interviewer was but he wasn’t pressing his questions and didn’t talk much which is very nice to see. And it almost seems like John knew who the interviewer was he seemed comfortable and gave honest rational answers
Water Falls On this clip you posted of John in that interview, I didn't hear John say that of Paul, but it is sad still that they didn't get together for a song.. wait, they DID, didn't they.
+Sincere ly__According to Harry Nilsson, (singer/songwriter/musician,& John's drinking buddy during his so called "Lost Weekend"), John told him; "I'm just like everybody else Harry, I fell for Paul's looks." John was also quoted as saying that; "Paul was a beautiful boy that looked like Elvis." Harry Nilsson was also quoted saying that John wore one of those Beatle fan buttons that said: 'I Love Paul.' When approached by a person on the street who asked him why was he wearing an "I Love Paul" button, John replied, "Because I love Paul." The myth is that John and Paul hated each other until John died, is just that...a myth. However when John was with Yoko, he was required to publically criticize, or show impatience with Paul and his music, and to heap adoring praise on Yoko to any print or broadcast media to make everyone believe that John was right to replace his unquestionably stellar songwriting/musical partnership with Paul, with that of an "equally brilliant" partnership with Yoko. To most discerning people though, that "equally brilliant" partnership with Yoko......is also a myth.
RE: "However when John was with Yoko, he was required to publically criticize, or show impatience with Paul and his music, and to heap adoring praise on Yoko."
I believe May Pang. Some people wonder how could Yoko get John back with hyposis. They believe that a person cannot be hypnotized against their own will. They forget that John smoked "like a chimney" and that he "willingly" went back expecting a smoking cure with hypnosis as part of the cure package, after all, Yoko claimed that it worked for her and that she was fully cured of smoking. I doubt seriously he expected to be tortured, deprived of sleep, given God-knows-what (Devil's Breath perhaps?)in his food and drink and God-know-what drilled into his mind as commands. People forget that John was so gullible, always looking to father figures with "the answers". His beloved Uncle George (Mimi's husband) whose death devasted young John. Brian Epstein, Magic Alex, Maharishi, Allen Klein, and Julia/Mimi mother figures. Cynthia, May Pang being kind, loving supportive like Julia and Yoko so much like Aunt Mimi, domineering but masking her stridency with a soft whispering voice. Some want to ignore how agenda driven Yoko was/is. Since John's death she has promoted the fictional JohnandYoko Love of the Ages, and as one of the "leading ladies" in Beatlelore, she wants to whitewash and reframe her story into that of a heroine, and sweep under the carpet, the reasons she got cut off from her rich family by continuously sullying the Ono family name with the type of behavior she used to "get" John Lennon in the first place.
what makes me so happy about this video is how he speaks about Paul especially when he says 'but now we're pretty close'. You didn't see much of their friendship in the seventies but I'm glad it actually was there :))
letsHugElefanten they only really fell out from 1970 to 1974. And that was over legal disputes. Breaking up their songwriting partnership was painful, and nasty, in a legal sense
That's what I was thinking, too. I knew they had reconciled a bit. I remember that they talked about visiting a SNL show one night when SNL was joking about a Beatles reunion. Paul was in NYC with John and they were watching it together. They joked that they should head over. From how John was talking here, it really does sound like they had mostly recovered. I do think there was some problems or tension between George and John when John was killed, but I don't think it was friendship ending stuff. As some others have said, they would have gotten together for one of the big charity concerts that others were doing.
@@chrispalin4043 It wasn't even that long..... they had effectively "made up" by the end of 1971, just a case that when Paul and John where making up, George then had his "fall out" with John.... I think John and Paul had another fall out around 78-ish, but it was rather minor compared to what they were like in 69-71. I think had George and Paul's relationship (which even after Johns death seemed to never really ever be the same... apparently the Anthology opened up old wounds, and it was only on George's death bed they really made up) improved in the mid 70's, a 75-ish reunion would have very well happened.
+Jack Domeischel "He also looked healthy as well." That's because he was away from Yoko, keeping him on starvation diets. Part of her control was, starve his body, feed his insecurities. That way he'd stay dependent on her. Mindgames.
Katanalord4Real There's a bootleg of a 1974 jam session. I don't know if that's the only jam session, but I think it's terrible to listen to. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/A_Toot_and_a_Snore_in_%2774
@@Ratelzwatel I think the point is not whether the music was terrible, the bigger point is that there were 2 close friends hanging out in a studio both doing what they loved best, If you listion to the out takes from there sessions over the years there was just a lot of throwing bits and pieces of what they were each working on, not polished. If you have ever had a falling out with a close friend you bring that back with baby steps, Paul dropping in the studio was a baby step.
Kind of a slap at Ringo too though. But that makes sense. Ringo wasn't a song writer so I think everyone would have been surprised at how well he was doing.
Not a slap at Ringo, IMO, just a sincere concern expressed. Ringo was the one in the group that led with his heart and was not afraid to show his love for each of them. Every team needs one of those, even if they are NOT appreciated.
Yeah, the 4 of them were like brothers.. they all loved each other but sometimes they fight. It was Paul McCartney's idea for Sgt. Peppers and Magical Mystery Tour, of course he would be all right.
Michael Brown More of a reflection on Paul's not liking how Ringo played on a recording which hurt his feelings and led to Ringo storming off. Paul played the drums on the recording of that song. John was throwing some shade on Paul if anything. Lennon's affection for Ringo was real...
The biggest praise he could ever give Paul was saying: why the hell would I worry about him, I knew he’s be alright… that just speaks of how much he admired and respected Paul’s talent.
'There will not be a Beatles reunion as long as John Lennon stays dead.' - George Harrison. The greatest band ever knew how to leave well enough alone. RIP, guys.
Well, having said that, a brand new Beatles record is going to be released later in 2023. And yes, all four Beatles play on it. Personally, I can’t wait.
Maybe the only John interview that I have seen where he doesn't come across as cynical, defensive, antagonist or aggressive. He actually comes across as a nice genuine fellow.
He was. He really was. At the end of it, He was an intelligent, funny, fun loving soul with a love for music and art. It's a shame he also had to be the other person he was, Though.. There's no excusing some of the things he did, of course, But at the end of the day, John Lennon was a Human Being.
His 74 interviews and the BBC 80 interview (as Yoko seems to keep quiet in that one and let him do 99% of the talking) are probably his best, as you can tell he is happy (this period he was dating Mae Pang, and she made him go the extra effort to get antiquated with Julian again) and everything sounds good when it comes to his relationship with the other Beatles (I think him and George fall out not long after this though.... but George was in a pretty bad place for 73-75 in his personal life)
..the same with Paul..and Linda. Maggie McGivern, ex-girl friend of Paul: "He’s a different person when he is with her.." Source: misanthrope1993.tumblr.com/post/121721044859/special-girlfriends-paul-mccartney
Each time I hear Lennon on the radio I immediately think of that fateful night. We/the world, were cheated out of a great gift to all who loved him. I still miss him terribly!
I have seen Paul McCartney twice now in concert. Best concerts I have ever been too. In both those concerts, Paul sang twice in rememberance of John. And afterwards, the man was crying. He loved John, and vice versa. RIP john!
I remember watching Live Aid in 1985. At the end of the Wembley show, Paul McCartney got up on stage & did a loose rendition of Let It Be, with a number of other friends assisting. I got really ANGRY at that point, turned to my friend and said: "You know, if Lennon was alive, THAT would've been the perfect spot to turn the stage around and quickly announce "Ladies & Gentlemen, The Beatles!" Satellites around the world would've imploded. I was angry because Chapman had taken that opportunity away from me. Lennon did say in an interview (Playboy interview?) that The Beatles would never reform for money, and here was the perfect vehicle. Only to be taken away by a stalker with a gun. That anger has been fuelled more over the years when you see that Paul & John had reconciled & generally all four were capable of being civil & professional with each other.
There would have been a Beatles comeback if... The 80s was (musically) a very difficult decade for our heroes of the 60s and 70s. Dylan, Stones, McCartney... not much good stuff. But I'm sure the 90s would have been THE Beatles studio comeback decade.
I think all of them were. His debut album had all 4 members on it, probably because they wanted to make sure he'd be okay. John and Paul knew George had a big catalogue of songs he'd written so he'd be fine.
I could listen to John when he is in this kind of mood for hours, such a nice , humorous and interesting bloke....not many celebrities can come close then or now ...RIP legend...
If I could go back in time only once to possibly change the course of history, I'd go to December 8, 1980 to stop Mark Chapman from killing John Lennon.
My friend and I talked of going to New York City to see if we could meet John Lennon in Nov-Dec 80....I wish to God I had been there I would have done anything to stop that asshole.
MP Pk so I'm gutless because I wouldn't give my life for somebody I don't know and who wouldn't have stopped to piss on me if I was on fire? okay. Well thank you for exposing yourself as the false bravado filled obnoxious lying douche bag that you are because there is no way you would either you are just trying to make yourself sound tough by saying that you would do something that you know you will never be forced to prove true. watch this. I would have singlehandedly killed every German in WW2 and then shoved a giant swastika baring flagpole right up Hitlers ass and out his mouth. Now, try to prove that I wouldn't. What's that? You can't? Why? Could it be because it is a situation that can never happen or be proved or disproved and so I can say any shit I want to try to sound tough? Similar to you saying that you would have taken a bullet for Lennon perhaps? He made great music but that doesn't mean I would take a bullet for him. My family? yup, absolutely, I would do ANYTHING for my loved ones and that is not balls or bravado that is just what you do for those you love, but to get online and brag that I would take a bullet for a celebrity I have never met or have no personal connection to just to try to make myself sound and feel tough? nah, I'll leave that for the pussy boys who need to compensate for something but who are in real life probably 135 pounds soaking wet, living in their moms basement and never touched a tit (btw that's you) So brag on little man. I look forward to hearing your response and next attempt to make yourself feel like the man you know you will never be
1976 might have been the closest John, Paul, George, and Ringo came to a Beatles reunion until John's death in 1980. A new Beatles comp album was released "Rock and Roll music" which attracted a lot of new fans also Paul and Wings tour of the USA had rumours John might get on stage with Paul which didn't eventuate. Ringos "Rotogravure" album featured one song each from John, Paul, and George but the four were never in the studio at the same time. And there was the famous claim by John that he and Paul nearly appeared on "The Saturday night live" programme. But as we all know the fab four never reunited that year and with Johns semi-retirement until 1980 and death that was really the end of any reunions.
IF John was still here, we would be closer to Imagine than the world we live in today. There is no one speaking out, telling it like it is in this time of lies.
They were actually REALLY close to reuniting, at least for a concert. Fate had other plans. Like John himself said, "Life is what happens while you're making plans". John's whole attitude about everything is so awesome, isn't it?!
The greatest "lost moment" in the history of music. Imagine the fanfare if they had dome something together. Surely they would have by the mid-90s when the others did the Anthology series. Don't think they would have toured, maybe not even an album, but I bet they would have at least done a one-off concert for television or a movie. The world would have been on the edge of its seat.
I've always thought that maybe at some point during the 70's all four of them got together and jammed secretly, Just that simple thought makes me happy, And who knows? Paul and john jammed together in 1974, Maybe they did jam but kept it to themselves.. But the legend lives on, The beatles are still sounding on the radio in 2015. What bigger accomplishment could a band possibly get?
+Giancarlo Santiago Actually, I have heard from very reliable private sources that they DID secretly get back together to make another album sometime in the mid 70s. Each of the Beatles make a pact with each other that the album was not ever to be released until all of them had passed on. The album has been locked away in a vault with those specific instructions which have been legally authorized..Yawwwwn. And back to sleep I go, into my next dream.
+The Skootles (Music Band) What "very reliable private sources" ?! Or do you really mean the total bullshit news item on a web report dated 18 December 2003, that declared that 1976 recordings took place at Davlen Studios, Los Angeles. It even went so far as to name the titles of 5 songs and state that the tape is held at Abbey Road vaults. Song titles were Happy Feeling, Back Home, Rockin' Once Again, People Of The Third World & Little Girl. I think someone was treating you like an asshole.
This is a cool clip of Mr. Lennon. I WISH he could’ve walked with LOTS of bodyguards. He’d still be around today. This interview shows a chill side to him. I like him ALONE sayin his own thoughts and ideas.
I love this interview with John Lennon, and treasure what he said here because it's SO POSITIVE. It shows that by 1975, The 4 Beatles were in a much better place emotionally, than they were at the time of the break-up. John's words here prove that a Reunion was definitely possible. By 1980, When John made his return to recording with the Double Fantasy album, the future looked very bright indeed. I believe that The Beatles would eventually have Reunited in the studio. It's my opinion that they would have made records for very specific reasons, for Peace and Charity, like George's concert album for Bangla Desh. Such a shame that it ended so tragically.
This interview really moves something inside me. John had sweetened his ways. Talks about "How do you sleep?" in a different way. Talks about possibilities about the Beatles. When I think to the craziness of his death, and to the death of these dreams well, I feel like crying...
All four of the lads did great in their solo careers. I remember the songs. I remember "Instant Karma" when i was a kid. I remember "Photograph" by Ringo, and loved it! I remember "My Sweet Lord" by George. I remember "Band on the Run" by Paul. I REALLY loved that song! They were doing great, but alas, they wanted to focus on their solo careers instead of reuniting.
I want to see a video of Paul watching this and hear his opinion of Johns kind words. I always hear that they hated each other after the Beatles, it warms my heart to see John speak of Paul lovingly.
They made up in 1972 after the post-Beatles fighting. There were probably some up and downs after that, but they loved each other and were mostly fine. They used to hang out at John´s apartment in NYC, Paul and Linda even celebrated Christmas with John one year.
Fantastic interview and like others previous..John sounded so nice and sincerley caring. Made me quite happy to see this. But George and John are gone, Paul n Ringo one day...then us. But better to have lived thru this and have the Beatles so close to us. In a 100 years...people will only know them via records/film. We actually had them in our lives. RIP George/John, Male E, Neill Asp. Billy P, Brian E etc :(
I like what you've written here. It's a nice realisation and you're right...it's great to appreciate being here now and seeing this unfold compared to reading about it in 100 years.
Gore Elohim Seems simply poor Mal Evans was high on drugs etc & delusional. Cops went to his apartment, saw him w/ a gun in his hand & shot him. With all the police shooting shit going on in the USA last few weeks/years. ...almost wonder whether that story by the cops was true? Regardless, Mal didnt seem to have a great life post Beatles ..probably coz with after the Beatles ...he was just "lost". Sorta like Elvi's Memphis mafia falling by the wayside after Elvis's death.
Purple Peanuts Youre not thinking correctly here. Mal had a book he was publishing exposing everything. Yeah on drugs sure lol, Mal made three calls to friends to tell them if anything were to randomly happen to him, please get the book out. Fact. Nothing to do with Elvis.
Without a doubt John's best interview. The way he doesn't even let Bob ask the question, he asks it himself. Lennon did the interview for a packet of chocolate Bath Oliver biscuits because the BBC's standard fee of £15.00 was irrelevant.
Makes me happy to see John's own thoughts on the subject. Things were not as twisted as media would have made it. Time softens a lot of things, doesn't it?
As an obsessed life-long Beatles fan, I truly believe they would have reunited had John lived. The safest bet is in studio form via the Anthology, perhaps maybe even sometime in the 80’s because John would have been very active with touring the prospective albums he talked about releasing after Double Fantasy. Now, his most recent interviews before his death in 1980 (most notably Playboy), he was against it - referring to it as a high school reunion that he wasn’t interested in doing. But the thing about John like most humans: he changes his mind. He admitted that in this interview, and in most subsequent interviews from 73-75 he was very open towards a potential reunion whereas he was vehemently against it in the immediate years after the break up. To speculate a reunion concert is plausible, but only after a successful studio session where they all “turned each other on again.”
Thanks so much for posting this great Beatles Reunion interview from 1975. It proves what I've always believed ... That eventually, The Beatles would have recorded together again one day.
It's so great to he him say that even though him and Paul were not close for a while after the break up but then they became close just made me happy knowing that they were getting along.
What a nice guy that John. My favorite Beatle. It is so hard to be idiolised like a God when you are only human. John was seen as a God by many and that must of been real hard but he still somehow managed to remain a real nice person inside no matter what. I sure would love to have met him and shake his hand and just tell him how much his music had an influince on most of us. RIP dear John. We miss you. I listen to at least one of your songs eveyday. # 9 dream up in the sky. PEACE
I simply can't believe he's been gone for nearly 35 years. I still remember the awfulness of that day like it was yesterday. Such a terrible terrible shock and so so unfair. John's wonderful personality and talent is still so relevant and needed, and therefore still so missed, today. How sad that so many millions were denied the excitement of hearing a brand new John album, or of hearing his latest thoughts.
I miss you John, and I've never stopped being angry that you were taken away from all of us, from your life, your family, and from all you would have created.
He was so cool. He died when I was 16 and a huge Beatles fan. I am so glad that I got to be alive when he was alive. Because of his influence - i am also dedicated to world peace projects & causes and I made a point to get to know and love people from different races and cultures. I grew up in a pretty closed society & i know I never would have had the positive life that i live now if i had not been a Lennon fan/devotee. ☮️💟
What could of been. I am and will always be, selfishly, sad that a reunion will never happen. Thinking about it ..my heart feels it to my soul. THIS is how these 4 guys were so extraordinary.
Flawed and beautiful. God do I miss these troubled souls. John had an exorcism and was blunt and honest about his treatment of others. He desperately wanted to be a better person. These days they hide behind 12 step programs and AI apologies. Lennon was honest. The first and the last male in the entertainment industry to say “judge me !! I’m ready to change “
@@chanhjohnnguyen1867 Lennon mellowed out and became more open as he got older, so yes it was by this point. There’s no excusing the abuse, obviously, but he did talk about how wrong he was and how he was ashamed of himself for it. That doesn’t make it better or forgiven, but it shows that he became more self-reflective and aware that he needed to change.
@@justinsayswtf The stuff he constantly gets shit on for really only happened in his only 20s. And even then it is massively overblown. If anything, i would say that the worst thing he did was being distant to his first son Julien. But John was trying to get closer to him before he was murdered. He really did want to start over in 1980, but he never got to have the opportunity.
I remember someone telling me a few years ago that while before recording "Double Fantasy" that John Lennon was thinking about calling up George Martin to produce it. Before recording the song "Woman", John would say "Where are we goin', fellas?" which was a Beatles reference. Clearly, he was thinking about them. "Woman" always sounded to me like "Here There And Everywhere". John even said that it was very "Beatley" during interviews.
Hearing the optimism and suggestion of possibilities from the legend himself always hits me hard in my heart. John Lennon death is one of the most heart breaking for me in regards to celebrities. This man's voice hauntingly live deep in my soul and I thank him tremendously for the gift he gave to the word for as long as it was possible to give until that animal who I shall not name because he doesn't deserve it. But obviously when that animal took him away from us life was different. I was born in 1992 so obviously I wasn't alive when he was but it doesn't make it any less hard to accept. Thank you John for all you have to the world and I'm not the only one that wonders continuously throughout my life just what we could have gotten if you remained with us weather it was more amazing solo stuff or the wonderful posibility of another Beatles classic record which I guarentee they would have United at some point. Almost guatentee they would have at the very least United for live aid just like queen did. If I had my choice is have taken a new collaborating record of the 4 of them. Instead of the singles released that was worked found John's unreleased demos and the other 3 worked around it to create two more Beatles song for us we would have got the real deal and a far better musical output and ofcourse instead of 2 songs we'd have gotten a full album. It's only slightly comforting to imagine what we could have received from them and hinself solo. But then you get the harsh and heavy reality that those ideas and imagining will never come to furision. Devastating, absolutely devastating. It's so hard to think about. Any John Lennon media, interviews, tv appearances or radio talking or music I eat it all up. And I get very happy when I come across content I've never heard before.
I love this interview. I just recently saw Ron Howard's film, Eight Days a Week about the Beatles touring days and loved it! They were like one. Totally connected and tight as a band. Their legacy is huge and I'm glad new generations are discovering them. They loved each other. They could not have done what they did without that closeness. It's neat hearing John speak of Paul in this way. I can only imagine if John had lived that they would have definitely all gotten back together. That would have been so great!
It was nice what he said that Paul would do alright for himself, but when he said I'm more pleased that Ringo's doing well ah maaaan that was so nice of him to say. Cause Ringo always was in the shadow, still is.
he looked so calm, nice and funny when he was alone.
Yeah, he was still broken up with Yoko at this point. The session he talked about where he played with Paul is called the Toot and Snort sessions. You can probably find some recordings from it of John and Paul singing together. It's the only recording of them ever singing together in the 70s. I think Yoko made him Crazy 😝 and irrational. I guess Deep down maybe he was a nice man.

So this is maybe one of the last times we see the real John and how he naturally felt about things.
No he always seemed calm. Always
He sounds and looks calm because Yoko wasn't near him. She manipulated him and he acted like an asshole when she's around.
I've never seen him that calm and introspective.

Paul was right - John is beautiful.
Yes Paul was right. And John thought Paul was beautiful too, because he told Nilsson; "I'm just like everybody else, I fell for Paul's looks."
Water Falls On this clip you posted of John in that interview, I didn't hear John say that of Paul, but it is sad still that they didn't get together for a song.. wait, they DID, didn't they.
+Sincere ly__According to Harry Nilsson, (singer/songwriter/musician,&
John's drinking buddy during his so called "Lost Weekend"), John told him; "I'm just like everybody else Harry, I fell for Paul's looks." John was also quoted as saying that; "Paul was a beautiful boy that looked like Elvis." Harry Nilsson was also quoted saying that John wore one of those Beatle fan buttons that said: 'I Love Paul.' When approached by a person on the street who asked him why was he wearing an "I Love Paul" button, John replied, "Because I love Paul." The myth is that John and Paul hated each other until John died, is just that...a myth.
If John hadn't died they may well have reunited by now.

what makes me so happy about this video is how he speaks about Paul especially when he says 'but now we're pretty close'. You didn't see much of their friendship in the seventies but I'm glad it actually was there :))
yes,me too :)
letsHugElefanten they only really fell out from 1970 to 1974. And that was over legal disputes. Breaking up their songwriting partnership was painful, and nasty, in a legal sense
thay also did an albun togheter in 1974, you can find in on youtube. They were still besties when john died and this makes me so happy
John was in good form in that interview - nice to see.

"He also looked healthy as well."
That's because he was away from Yoko, keeping him on starvation diets.
Part of her control was, starve his body, feed his insecurities. That way he'd stay dependent on her. Mindgames.
during the lost weekend yoko was away :D
Man, I wish he was still around. A jam session with Paul would be absolutely incredible. John really was a freaking legend.
Katanalord4Real
There's a bootleg of a 1974 jam session.
Nice how he never doubted Paul would do alright for himself.
Agreed and then he said I don't think Ringo is even the best drummer on the beatles... And stuff like that.
RIP, guys.

Maybe the only John interview that I have seen where he doesn't come across as cynical, defensive, antagonist or aggressive. He actually comes across as a nice genuine fellow.
Because Yoko isn't there.
He was.
He really was.
At the end of it,
He was an intelligent, funny, fun loving soul with a love for music and art.
It's a shame he also had to be the other person he was, Though..
There's no excusing some of the things he did, of course,
But at the end of the day,
John Lennon was a Human Being.
His 74 interviews and the BBC 80 interview (as Yoko seems to keep quiet in that one and let him do 99% of the talking) are probably his best, as you can tell he is happy (this period he was dating Mae Pang, and she made him go the extra effort to get antiquated with Julian again) and everything sounds good when it comes to his relationship with the other Beatles (I think him and George fall out not long after this though.... but George was in a pretty bad place for 73-75 in his personal life)
@Scott - Very well stated. I thought the exact same thing, but didn’t phrase it as well as you did.
@@lelk4682 what did he do? What do you mean by “it’s a shame he had to be the other person he was though”?

John and William weren't friends.
Each time I hear Lennon on the radio I immediately think of that fateful night. We/the world, were cheated out of a great gift to all who loved him. I still miss him terribly!
Yes.:)
***** lennon would have been treated like a returning messia..you could never imagine the effect it would have had if he had been alive..

John was worried about Ringo, he knew it Paul and George were gonna be fine lol
I think all of them were. His debut album had all 4 members on it, probably because they wanted to make sure he'd be okay. John and Paul knew George had a big catalogue of songs he'd written so he'd be fine.

Thanks chapman all you cost us was 2 or 3 more masterpiece beatle records and 10 or so historical concerts . You don't deserve the air you breath!

there's no point of comparing them separately coz they're the lennon/mccartney union. the greatest bond in the rock history
What an incredibly candid and delightful interview. Never saw it.
The world would have been on the edge of its seat.
another reason why that fat fame-seeker needs to stay behind bars until he draws his last breath.
Lennon seemed happier and more at peace with himself at this stage of his life. Thanks for uploading this.

I've always thought that maybe at some point during the 70's all four of them got together and jammed secretly, Just that simple thought makes me happy,
And who knows? Paul and john jammed together in 1974,
Maybe they did jam but kept it to themselves..
But the legend lives on,
The beatles are still sounding on the radio in 2015.
***** Well, that was a fun read..
+The Skootles (Music Band) yeah.....you must be dreaming to say that they got back together to record an album. 😭😭😭😭😭😭
+Giancarlo Santiago I remember playing all of the solo beatles stuff all the time back in the mid 70's and thinking they were back together.

Awww, John, I will always love him.
"If we got on a studio and turn each other on..again then it would be worth it." A day in a life's lyrics from John to Paul. ❤
This interview really moves something inside me. John had sweetened his ways. Talks about "How do you sleep?" in a different way. Talks about possibilities about the Beatles. When I think to the craziness of his death, and to the death of these dreams well, I feel like crying...
Beatles were fab back in the day thank you paul and Ringo for continue appearance
This is an extremely intriguing interview. It seems to be a rare moment when John was a bit less cheeky, less guarded, and quite genuine.
Wonder why Mal was killed mmmm
RIP George Martin too
Without a doubt John's best interview. The way he doesn't even let Bob ask the question, he asks it himself. Lennon did the interview for a packet of chocolate Bath Oliver biscuits because the BBC's standard fee of £15.00 was irrelevant.
I could watch him talk all day, every day.
Makes me happy to see John's own thoughts on the subject. Things were not as twisted as media would have made it. Time softens a lot of things, doesn't it?
It’s nice to have seen him come to grips of who he was and have love for his old band
Great interview. John doesn't seem to have his usual wall up around him.
she (yoko) stayed home
John Lennon was just so REAL. Like him or not, the man spoke truth and that's what made him the best.
He "jammed with Paul" at 01:45 must have been the "toot and a snore" session from '74.
Yes, it was. John also says here that it happened in L.A., which is another evidence of it. Cheers.

Thanks so much for posting this great Beatles Reunion interview from 1975. It proves what I've always believed ... That eventually, The Beatles would have recorded together again one day.
It is so more than safe to assume that we would have gotten a reunion tour/performance or maybe another album from the FOUR of them....

The one in 74 with Howard Cosell is great. Yoko wasn't around.

Flawed and beautiful. God do I miss these troubled souls. John had an exorcism and was blunt and honest about his treatment of others. He desperately wanted to be a better person. Get Back is quite revealing.
@@justinsayswtf The stuff he constantly gets shit on for really only happened in his only 20s. And even then it is massively overblown. He really did want to start over in 1980, but he never got to have the opportunity.
He spoke so truthfully.
That was a really great clip

Brothers family argue all the time love and loyalty is never questioned
It would have happened...probably in the middle to late 80's...
Great comments by Lennon, a pretty honest assessment. He seemed relaxed and open.
The whole interview is so Brilliant, I think it's from The Old Grey Whistle Test
The love that comes through for his mates is beautiful.
