      We have something similar/identical here in Cambodia called nom ansom chruk which means cake cylindrical rice pork. There also other versions of it my favorite is nom ansom chek, chek meaning banana:

    In Northern Vietnam we call this “bánh tét”, which is another variation of the actual “bánh chưng” (the square ones). And you did the right thing frying them, they’re so much better fried than fresh, plus they’re excellent when paired with soy sauce or chili oil

    • @kazynites1486
      @kazynites1486 2 ปีที่แล้ว +12

    The rice cake that you have is "banh tet" which is very similar to "banh chung." You can tell the difference between the two with the shape. Banh chung is square and banh tet is cylindrical.

    Hmm, I'd call this "bánh tét" instead of "bánh chưng". They are basically the same tho, the only difference is their shape. Bánh tét is cylindrical, while bánh chưng is square. Btw this made me miss Tết a lot even though it's only been a month since the last lol. This thing, it's just so freaking good istg.

    In South India the region where I come from therez this dish called “Kotte kadbu” could be called Jackfruit rice cake in english. As the name suggests it's made of jackfruit and rice batter which is steamed after being filled inside the banana wrap as shown in the video. It can be eaten along with ghee(melted butter ) as it's sweet.
