Well, I'm glad they're being careful about restoring the original architecture. Not something I was ever conscious of as a kid, but now as a senior citizen, it appeals to my eye and camera.

Since my father's passing in 2019 and the house being sold I haven't been back home since had no idea this was going on a friend of mine Lawrence McGowan worked in the Playland paint shop years ago.
Not only an historic landmark but Mariah Carey filmed a music video there and the movie Big was also filmed there.

A shame that they destroyed "The Flying Witch". It has been there for over 40 years and now they've torn it down! I just hope they don't ruin the other dark ride "Laff in The Dark". That has been there since the park opened in 1928.

They did not tear it down the "owners" of the ride sold it and moved it. A number of rides were owned by outside vendors

The Flying Witch has allegedly been moved to Niagara Amusement Park (formerly Fantasy Island) in Grand Island, New York

@@mr.helloween1313 Be prepared to drive a few hundred more miles to the western end of NY state to ride it at its new home. A park between Buffalo and Niagara Falls which was bought by Gene Staples new owner of Indiana Beach and Clementon Lake Park. Only 2 miles away is the Haunted House of Wax in Niagara Falls, NY and there are several more haunted attractions over on the Ontario, Canada side on Clifton Hill and Victoria Ave. and in an arcade attached to a hotel. Make sure you are vaxxed and have a passport card to cross the border and return to the US. The Ontario side has more fun attractions and stuff than the NY side.

Your right, they are not doing whats right. Taking down the Flying Witch was a big mistake for their ego.

Did you know that the previous county executive before George Latimer, Rob Astorino pushed to close the park because it was a drain on taxpayers? He wanted to turn it into a recreational space, like for sports and no rides. I think George wanted to keep Playland as a ride park but have a private operator run it. The Flying Witch and Zombie Castle were owned by the Trahanas family. Not owned by the county. The new private operator, is it Standard Amusements? wants all privately owned concessions gone. So, bye bye Witch. At least it will operate elsewhere in NY state at the western end rather than being scrapped and taken to a landfill and never seen again. A lot of old spook rides like that met a sad fate like that, or burned down.

Oh no, they're tearing down the flying witch? The ride itself was nothing special, but the decorations on the outside of the building were epic.

New Yorkers will now have to drive a few hundred miles to the western end of the state to ride the Flying Witch in the future at the former Martin's Fantasy Island amusement park now Niagara Amusement Park owned by Gene Staples who also bought Indiana Beach in Indiana and Clementon Lake Park in NJ and saved them from permanent closure. The park where the Flying Witch is going is on Grand Island between Buffalo and Niagara Falls. There are a bunch of haunted attractions in Niagara Falls, Ontario and one walk through haunted house of wax on the NY State side. At least I rode the FW in August, 1999 as well as the Zombie Castle and Old Mill pre renovation. I live near Dorney Park in PA which lost all it's old dark rides and is now scare free in the summer but they have several indoor walk through haunted mazes and outdoor scare zones during Haunt in the fall. Haunt is a product of Cedar Fair of Sandusky, OH which owned Dorney Park since July, 1992. I went through the Niagara Falls, ON haunted attractions in July 2006.
