I loved this video. Playland has a special place in my heart - I worked there as a teenager, my husband worked there as a teenager, we met, fell in love and have been married for 37 years!
My parent first took us to Playland in the early 50s. Memories are etched in my heart forever. Still remember the (7 ticket) Fun House and the Magic Carpet.
The dragon coaster only has one locking position on the lap bar so if a average to big sized person is in the first car. No one else of average size is fitting in any other seat.
Rye Beach/Playland is priceless. A timeless gift of memories for a multitude of generations who have been blessed to have had the experience. Please, please keep it as part of the County's historic parks.
I grew up going to Playland, from 4 yrs. old. and still love it just as much to this day. 😊💗It was always a special place to be and I’m happy summer is here and look forward to more fun at Playland!
Awesome childhood memories! My family and I went here often, either to swim or go on rides..I remember the talking trash bins. Playland was the cleanest park..we purposely searched for any trash!! There were 6 of us kids!
Grew up going to this park in the '80s and '90s. The Derby Racer is still the greatest, as I got back on a few years ago. (Dragon Coaster is awesome too, but nothing beats the Derby.)
Always loved Playland, so many happy memories there! Hope it lasts a long, long time. Rebuild the Aeroplane Coaster and it will become quite profitable! *Does anyone have a clear picture of the Haunted Masion dark ride with the 1980s paint job? That's a classic, they year I went with a camera it was repainted (1993?)! :(
@@Yeet112 No, I didn't care for the new paintjob. I had my 35mm camera, no video. They redid Zombie Castle as well. How I wish I had some clear shots of the old paintjobs! As a kid, I was mesmerized by them. Still haven't found clear shots anywhere. This video shows some of the old paintjob on the Flying Witch at 8:27. th-cam.com/video/svFZPa-WA0k/w-d-xo.html It's quick and not too close, but it's the best I've found.
They need to bring back the old rides And build a bigger roller coaster ! There’s so many acres of unused land they could really expand and make Playland huge and a major competitor to Six-Flags !

Playland is and will always be the best Amusement Park ever! It is filled with memories for me.
Playland also gave so many kids summer jobs, and friendships that lasted for years. I worked there in the late 60s, and still remember it fondly.
Wonderful video

Playland always will have a great memory for me. I remember my dad and I used to go there all the time. I remember everything.
Good times
So good to see old friends still making smiles at Playland. Keep it up - you have a great thing going in Westchester.
Love Playland! The Classic dark rides, the derby racer, and the Dragon Coaster are priceless. It’s like time travel.

Time to bring back the Airplane Coaster.
Absolutely! It would make it a destination park for roller coaster lovers from all over! They need it.
As a Rye resident now living in Chelsea Manhattan friend of mine Lawrence McGowan actually worked in the paint.
