They comment saying stuff like "oh this stupid guy who ripped people off and did some drugs before" as if hes not human overcoming his past. Jonny is the greatest rock singer of all time but the people talking about him are what stop him being internationally a treasure to human history.

    it's the classical musical concept of call & response. He's mastered weaving those soft delicate vocals right between his belts which makes it feel extremely dynamic and emotionally charged. But like most notables singers, it's not necessarily even his technique, but his timbre supporting that great tone everyone knows and loves. A lot of people have tried to sing like Jonny but his unique tone always stands out. Still a great video though and an awesome share!

    Jonny's voice is just insane, but what really sells me on this is Chris adapting these things to his own voice. This shows me, that he really knows what he's talking about and can help my voice as well.
    I'm sorry to ask you so frequently but here's another question: Should I be worried, if my larynx goes up,if I place the tone more forward? My previous voice trainings were almost like "keep your larynx always neutral" and this really bothers me.

    I love how your channel and Rick Beato's are one of the few channels on an excellence level that artists and pros themselves can show up and talk, leaving after some valuable knowledge exchange. There are moments I can notice you help people get some concepts and explanations aligned on their own art, and that seems priceless!
    Couldn't help but notice that while you brought Spencer, Rick brought Misha a couple times as well. Periphery folks are awesome!
    And last but not least - hopefully you collab on anything in the future. You are both legends on the niche of your contents! Vocals are definitely Rick's biggest gap, so maybe there's convenience in there! (maybe even make him a good singer? lol)

    Very interesting... it seems to me that articulation changes drastically in a word TAKE. Diphthong 'ay'. Sometimes I hear the beginning of the diphthong more close to the "i" (as in 'Dip') when Jonny sings "take". When Chris sings "TAKE" to my ear it appears to be more rounder, closer to "oh" sound or /ɜ:/ british vowel as in "TURN". I noticed it also when I listened to the different bands...That diphthong is the most difficult sound for me to sing because I am not a native speaker. It would be great to find a video about the ways to sing that vowel.

    You know I think Jonny himself is learning about how he does what he does so his next song is going to be ARMED with that knowledge and he’s going to kill it harder than he did on beautiful death.

    I recently found Jonny uploading to twitch. Just random live streams, some gaming and humming about. He has some footage of him and a buddy doing the actual producer side of some songs, legit coming up with stuff on the fly and BSin in the chat. I was missing him; glad he is back. Handle is thepearlboy4l (that's an L)

    This is cool!! It seems like you’re fighting each other a little in terms of terminology but ultimately able to find common ground. Does Jonny seem to know what compression is or know if he’s doing it or be conscious of it at all???
    Also, is there a difference in muscular effort between that backwards placement and the forward placement??

    Hi! 'e' vowel (like in bed and set) is my problem vowel. It would be great if your do more videos about that sound. It sounds different the way we speak it I guess!

    • @chrisliepe

      I've done several videos about EE :) ...But ya a video on the "eh" would be good. Here's the EE videos in case you missed them:

      @@chrisliepe thank you very much, watched them, very useful. But I mean short /e/ vowel like in BED. Also is there a huge difference between /e/ and /ɛ/? Also diphthong /ei/ like in TAKE. How do you produce the first vowel /e/ in that diphthong is it the same like in a word BREATH?
      You know I'm not a native speaker we have similar sounds in russian but I think it differs.
      Anyway, thank you for your feedback! And it would be great if you'll make video about singing /e/, /ɛ/ and /ei/ vowels! Good luck!

    Hey Chris! This may go unnoticed because this is an old video but I have a question. Would you consider Jonny's higher range a mix or a belt? Through years of listening to him I've always noticed that he really doesn't seem to have a genuine falsetto, it just seems so seamless, especially back in the day like during his early dance Gavin dance work and the first Emarosa album especially. I may just be getting hung up on terminology but I would like to know lol. Thank you

    • @chrisliepe
      @chrisliepe  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      He doesn’t get that high really and it is all belt! He doesn’t use any mix techniques.

    • @MichaelA-ue8gh
      @MichaelA-ue8gh 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@chrisliepe thanks Chris, always appreciate how much you communicate with us! Really great knowing that and you're right, I think his highest note is around an E5 which really isn't that insanely high, probably just the tone and intensity that makes it sound so crazy! Thanks again, you're the best 😁

    • @MichaelA-ue8gh
      @MichaelA-ue8gh ปีที่แล้ว

      @@xel_osrs I would personally call that a strong head voice, but that's kind of semantics lol. I think Jonny would probably admit his falsetto/head voice isn't that great, hence why he more often than not belts that part live, rather than uses another mode.

    • @xel_osrs
      @xel_osrs ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@MichaelA-ue8gh it's definitely full falsetto. He has a lot of bassy undertones in his voice. It's why everyone tries to label him as a bari-tenor but he doesn't pull down to those low notes. I have a similar voice type to him without having as solid of a timbre
