Well done Ron… Ive been a certified technician for over 40 years, but no one knows how to replace parts on every type of vehicle on the road today like it was in the early 60s and your video told me everything I needed to know. Thank you
Thank you Ron! I have been battling with my Trailblazer for a few days now and this was the fix! The video was extremely straight forward and supper easy to understand!
This is the best, clearest explanation I found on the Web, for replacing a Trailblazer ignition switch. Having just done it on my own '02, I got to learn the importance of matching the position of the gear sprockets on the new one to the old one that's coming out. Ron explains this but I would add the suggestion that you make a mark with a magic marker or something on a sprocket or two of the old one as soon as its out. Then, you can easily click the new one into the same position. The gear controls contacts inside the switch and there are four possible positions they can be in. I didn't do the match-up too well at first and ended up having to take the switch back out a couple times because I was off on that gear position and, for example, the accessories came on as soon as I reconnected the battery on the first try! It took some trial and error but, in time, I got it right. I don't think all my guessing caused any harm but it was a waste of time that I could have avoided!
Thanks for saying so. When I ran shops, I always wanted to make it easy for my customers to understand the problem and the fix. I involved them so they could be educated about their own vehicles.
Thanks for the video. I've been trying to figure out how to get the cover off my trailblazer so I could replace the switch. Your video makes it easy to understand.
Thank you Ron, I had a reveling look at what the dealership I just went to will probably try to do it to me, I turned 80 this past year and now eventhough I am a retired trucker/rancher everyone treats me like I've lossed all my marbles. Happy trails to you and all our friends in the south.P
its -4 and I was not looking forward to figuring this out in a snow storm. just what i needed and my truck was started and back on the road within 15 min. just what i needed.
The Envoy is even faster! You don't need to remove the knee panels first to get to the bottom half of the column! Meanwhile on 1A Auto they're taking apart the cluster bezel and everything too :P
Well done Ron….just one question we replaced it and still periodically doesn’t start and I still keep turning key when I turn key harder eventually starts could it be teeth are not correct.Would it hurt if I tried to turn teeth a few times til we had the teeth in the right position
Ron , your video was very well done . My only question is what indications did the Trailblazer have to be the switch? I just replaced the battery however even though all indicators lights come on and sounds it clicks once while turning ignition on. 02 Trailblazer LT 275,000 miles , been a great car!
My new battery dies every day. It starts right up when I jump it so I believe I do have a short, my question is, do I have to jump the vehicle first and then shut it off? or is it OK with it not starting. Thanks for this great video.
I lined up the teeth to what I thought was exact the same,I'm pretty Technical since I do hvac and car repairs for 30yrs...we noticed the envoy stereo always seem to be powered on...was.a tooth off or something...thanks
Hey ron. So i'm trying to figure out if this is the problem. The vehicle starts up fine. Most of the time that sometimes it just doesn't start but the lights do all go on a dashboard and it'll start shortly after
Would this be the problem,if the key is hard to turn and no start.over head lights seem dim like bad connection at battery..or could this switch do that also..thanks
I replaced my switch, them replaced it again with plastic teeth exactly the same as the old one (again) and now my battery light is on while parked. Any ideas ?
I'm in desperate need for this ACDelco part but it's not in stock anywhere I look online. If anyone could give me a link to the part if you've found It, It would be appreciated
We have an 08 Chevy trailblazer no start no crank and it doesn't make no sound when you turn the key its got a new battery new alternator new starter the battery light comes on the dash and the gear shift is stuck in park what's wrong with it

Is it the same for every trailblazer of the generation? Mine is currently clicked wrong so I’m trying to find where it needs to be

This was explained really well that even I believe I can change it myself. With being a female. Thank you Ron
Like it. I'm replacing the same switch on my 2006 Tahoe.
Worked very well, only problem I had was the dash was hard to pull down other than that so much better than others I have seen.
Awesome video 😮
Great video, good clear explanation.
Very good ! I do have a question regarding a ignition problem on my 2002 trailblazer. Frustrated with it.
Good job amigo thank you for share your video I appreciate your time

Now what if your key is stuck in the accessory position and will not turn to off to get the key out. And the golden button doesn’t work to release it?
This is my 3rd time doing this and I still need to watch it done. The same with coils. Multiple misfire. Otherwise it's a good car

Very helpful 👌 thanks
Could this be the solution if my ignition locked forward even after the ignition cylinder has been replaced?
I lined up the teeth to what I thought was exact the same,I'm pretty Technical since I do hvac and car repairs for 30yrs...we noticed the envoy stereo always seem to be powered on...was.a tooth off or something...thanks
This video will work if my key is stuck on the on position with setting the gears?
Thx that save me a lot of money
