The updates still don’t fix the fundamental flaws of the game. You’re still trapped in a loop of collecting random objects to talk to friends and collect emeralds to advance the story. Besides, even with all the updates, Tears of the Kingdom still blows Sonic Frontiers out of the water.

This game is actually quite fun and the titan battles are epic. The gameplay and plot in really good. They finally gave Amy a character. The only mid thing is that it's repeative and that's about it. Overall it's a really good game and I 100% recommend it.

I played sonic and Zelda as a child, I really hate where the sonic franchise is going, sonic was always its own thing not just a Zelda copy. While playing sonic frontiers, I didn’t have that sonic-y feeling I just felt like I was playing breath of the wild with different characters

I agree with you on some parts, for me this game is Botw maps and looks + collectibles from Mario Odyssey + Sonic in Sonic Colors. For me, the story/islands weren't very "sonic-y" but the gameplay is the good ol' Sonic we know.

i know this is an old review but fun fact the actually put in the option to level up multible levels of speed or ringcapacity at once in a recent update they also now have a NEW collectable in the game, music notes those notes let you unlock songs from all over the sonic franchise and listen to them during the open world gameplay they also had a cool colab with monster hunter where you could get a rathalos armor for sonic
Normally I don't play sonic games because they're too fast for my eyes to follow but this one was a good game Edit:also my man if you go into settings you can turn off the power up scene and not only that you can increase the speed in which sonic actually goes

I like the game, just one big take away with me is the boring environments and music. Sure the open worlds are fun but i wish with the theming we had something more than just "Grass" "Sand" "Rock", ect And they just have no personality at all. The music is fine i just wish they had something more exciting playing then a tune i could 100% fall alseep listening to. And just like the worlds they arent very uniqe and don't have much personality. I still like the game and always have a fun time playing it, i just wish those two factors were done better.
If you think its bad here… Zelda’s even worse. Personally I kinda wished Rhea and Ouranous Islands had different theming than just feeling like leftovers from the first island
Sonic's "outline that breaks the shadows on the water" is an artifact of screen space reflection. The reflections made by SSR can only see the pixels on the screen, and Sonic is covering a part of the screen, so the water reflections can't see what it should be reflecting, so it reflects nothing. A less primitive implementation would at the very least add a vignette to the effect strength has to not draw attention to the SSR breaking behind objects and the edge of the screen.
Regardless of how you implement SSR, however, it'll always have issues like that. However, it is the least computationally expensive reflection method by far (if you don't count reflection cubemaps). Chances are, SSR is the best thing they can do in their render pipeline.

I'm sure you were told this a lot in the comments on the original post but id like to reiterate that the devs don't appreciate their game and hard work being compared to breath of the wild. to be fair there are a lot of similarities but it was never meant to be a rip off. as for the final boss sega forced sonic team to rush the later half of the game so they didn't have time to complete their original plan which from my knowledge was gonna be much more bad ass and climactic. great overview though. I will agree its a bit cheesy but in a likeable way. I highly recomend the game not for plot but for the fact that its a fun little digestible story thats fun to play casually
I think crunch is very important to take account in to a games state and how it’s affected the release of a game but I think it’s arguably much more important to take a game on its own merits and see what it does good or bad it has even with the limited time/ resources the team could have had and also A lot of people especial people outside the sonic fan base won’t know the struggles the team may have had that people inside the fan base may know And I can’t say this for 100% sure but I’m pretty sure it was even just a little bit inspired by breath of the wild theirs many aspects of the game that are reminiscent of BOTW

Bad movie idea (In the wise words of Johnny razer.) A CEO of a small company knows someone in the office is trying to kill him, and he cares less and less the richer and more successful he becomes. The main movie is just him getting more and more paranoid, locking himself in his office, as his company booms overnight, and the main movie is a murder mystery, but in the background, it’s a commentary on corporations growing, to the point where they don’t care about the environment, and only care about themselves, and how much money they can make. The CEO gets killed by everyone some random guy in the office, and the ending is the random guy coming in and lecturing him while letting him bleed to death from a gun wound. PLEASE USE THIS IN A VID, DONT CREDIT ME, JUST SAY “You’re welcome”
