Hi everyone! Let's paint a Space Marine Scout for Warhammer 40k in Blood Angels chapter colors using Contrast paints and a few tricks.
Materials:
Grey Primer, (Ace Hardware)
Airbrush (Iwata Eclipse)
Rosemary and Co series 99 sable brushes, sizes 2, 1, 0
Micro Set decal solution (Microscale Industries, Inc.)
Vallejo Game Color: Black, White, Bonewhite, Offwhite
Citadel Contrast: Skeleton Horde, Blood Angels Red, Flesh Tearers Red, Darkoath Flesh, Wyldwood, Black Templar
Citadel Base/Layer:
Mephiston Red, Wild Rider Red, Fire Dragon Bright, Gorthor Brown, Kislev Flesh, Steel Legion Drab, Eshin Grey, Iron Hands Steel, Retributor Armor, Stormhost Silver, Fenrisian Grey
Citadel Shade:
Nuln Oil, Agrax Earthshade, Lahmian Medium
Basing materials:
Vallejo Earth Texture - Dark Earth
Coarse Gravel
Fine sand
Super Glue
Static Grass
the steel legion drab glaze added on the leather gives such a nice worn effect
yeah it really does. And if it pools a little unevenly, I'll just kind of follow those shapes when I add scratches.
I think a video on brushes and better brush control would be awesome.

Great vid. I tend to go with all the dark contrast colours and then finish with the lighter ones as it's easier for clean up. This will help with the under suit and leather straps.

That red turned out more "bloodravenly" (especially with the "bony" fabric), blood angels seem to be brighter. Which means its a perfect tutorial for me :P

Would like to see some dark angels please😁 and when you get back to fantasy again some chaos or dwarves would great. You have a similar painting style to warhipster on youtube but i find that you have that bit more finesse and lovely detail. And your videos are so chill and relaxing to watch! Really great stuff, i hope games workshop takes note and starts sending you minatures to promote for them

A Space Marine video? Hmmm, OK, I'll allow it seeing as it's Blood Angels. Interesting take highlighting black that way and with the darker skin tone, which isn't something you usually see. I like it! I just ordered over 100 resin bases to rebase my company of Blood Angels which are all Rogue Trader era plastic beakies. If you do any more marines I think you should do a custom chapter. Pick a theme and really lean into it. Do some conversions, talk about how you developed a color scheme, and maybe do some freehand somewhere. Cheers Mr. Matt.

I use size 1 for nearly everything, although the brushes are all so close in size anyway that I don't feel it would really be helpful to mention it. My biggest concern is just that the brush has a good point.

Really nice video, youre a very good painter - I know theyre a bit boring but I feel like painting some ultramarines would be good for your channel growth but for fun id like to see some more seraphon or maybe dwarfs.

Another great video. Would you consider adding the brush sizes in the chevrons with the paint being used?
thanks for watching! To be honest I don't even pay much attention to the brush sizes myself! I don't have much of a formula or system for which brush I use. I don't think the brush size makes much of a difference, as long as it has a good point. I typically use a size 1 for nearly everything, and once in a while a 2 for larger areas or a 0 for eyes, but the sizes are all so close anyway. Hope this helps!

This is a great tutorial for me, as you use the cream and the fiery red tones! BTW, do they just give the mini of the month to you, or do they require you to do something to get it?

What brush are you using?
For most of this video I used a Rosemary and Co series 99, size . I used a series 33 size 1 for some of the very fine detail work.

Contrast is what it is called exactly. Contrasting. If you don't have more than 2 spots to "contrast" each other (high/low , light dark) them the paint does work example - armor
