How do you keep your above ground pool clean? These items will help.
Have an Intex, Coleman, Bestway, or any other style soft sided above ground pool? These are great ways to enter into the pool world but sometimes the package they sell can include some less than desirable materials, or even none at all. In this video I explain 3 things I have found to make cleaning and maintaining our 18’x 48” pool much easier and quicker.
Thank y’all for watching.

Nice review. My wife and I bought our house in 2013 and it already had a hard-side above-ground pool. It's crazy how much you learn along the way. You get smarter and more efficient about what you do with the maintenance. Good job passing on your tribal knowledge for others to learn. 👍🏻
You got that right man! I didn’t have a clue 🤣 you definitely learn along the way and that makes it a bit more fun. Thank you for the kind words and I appreciate you taking the time to comment!
Not long-winded at all, just a lot of useful information! Thx!
I’m so glad you enjoyed it and thank you for the kind words it means a lot!!
You can use the original pump to attach a vacuum to if you need to conserve water.
Thanks for this
My pleasure to do it and thank you for taking the time to comment !!
Thanks for video
You’re welcome thanks for checking it out and commenting!
Great video! Thank you
I appreciate that so much!! Hope that it helps. Happy summer!!
I have pretty much the same set up.. pool is alway clear and nice looking! Used the weak pump the first year seemed ok but now that i have a sand pump its a game changer thats forsure! I only got a 10 inch seems to be great!
Heck yeah that’s freaking awesome!! So glad it worked out for you, it’s the key to low maintenance!! Thank you for checking it out and taking the time to comment. Enjoy!
If you have a long pool hose there is no need to buy a vacuum head or attach it to your pump. Simply start a suction on it by submerging it starting at one end and when the entire hose is full toss one end over the side to the ground. It will start suctioning and you just walk slowly around the pool holding the end at the bottom of the pool. Afterwards you will need to add a few inches of water to the pool.
Where did you get your return that put the water back into the pool with the eye that comestible I have a colon pool. I need one that would fit it.
I’m trying to understand, are you speaking about the plastic eyeball?
Omg thank you for this. I have the sand filter. Did you buy new hoses if so which did you use? Last year mine kept popping off causing a mess. I thought the pump may be to powerful for the pool or i had the wrong hoses.
You’re so welcome that makes me really happy that it helped!! I did just use the hoses that originally came with the pool and the new pump. Only extra hoses I have gotten are the smaller ones because they dried and cracked. That’s no good if they keep coming off. You could get some metal clamps, just be careful not to over tighten. The plastic clamps are not very good. Sorry I’m not much more help!
Do you keep your skimmer basket completely submerged or at water level? First year above ground pool owner here, bought second hand with no user manual so im entirely self-educating myself on the basics.
Hey Kelly, I know exactly how you feel! It takes awhile but once you figure it all out it'll be easy as anything. So the skimmer basket has an outer and an inner piece. You want the outer portion of the Intex style skimmer 3-4" below the water line so that the inner basket portion is floating up a bit at the surface of the water. It allows more suction and gives the skimmer the best chance of capturing, and pulling pieces down into it. I hope that helps. Enjoy your new pool! We love our's.
Where did you get the pool light??
I got the pool light off amazon, I love that thing and its still going strong! Pretty much have it lit up every night even if its just to look at it.

The recharge cordless vac works great. I got mine for about 80$ and was one of the best investments.,
Much better than the conventional pool vacuum., I dreaded breaking that thing out.
Man, I couldn't agree more. I never had any luck at all with the conventional vac. Sounds like you got a good deal!
how many 50 pound bags of sand?
It depends on what size filter/pump you get. For mine, I’ll take a look at the manual and let you know, can’t specifically remember off hand and I don’t want to tell you wrong.
How much pool essentials should you put in when filling?
Are you speaking about chemicals? It all depends on the quality and condition of the water you’re using to fill. When I filled mine the first time it was clear to start so I just kept chlorine pucks in it and it was good to go. You may need to shock it and adjust pH. I hope that helps.
@@TheChapMX ok city water is what we are using. So I’m headed to Walmart to get some things. Is there a better test stop to look for?
@@TheChapMX and yes chemicals
@@dustinjohnson2116 you will definitely need shock and chlorine pucks and a way to float them around the pool. So I’d get those things and some sort of test kit and go from there.
@@TheChapMX what shock is best
It is not necessary to change or clean a cartridge daily. During normal use it may need cleaning or changing every couple of weeks.
