WHW Day 3 Rowardennan to Ardlui

July 1, 2024. Day three hiking the West Highland Way in Scotland took us from Rowardennan to Ardlui along the banks of Loch Lomond. We hiked the High Road north of Rowardennan to add a little variety as there is plenty of Loch Lomond lake side trails before and after Inversnaid. It was yet again, another gorgeous day with no rain, no midges, and light winds. The technical terrain slows you down, but it is not hard to navigate, so no worries. Inversnaid Hotel was more than welcoming with snacks and drinks accessible through the Walkers Entrance - can't miss it. As we planned to take a zero day on day four, we chose to take the ferry at Ardleish across to Ardlui and stay at the Ardlui Hotel. A wonderful hotel with lovely gardens to relax and look out over the loch, and a fantastic old bar... request a seat in the bar rather than the hotel for a cosier experience. The total distance for the day was 13.68 miles with an easy 1631 in elevation gain.
