What you do for me at 82 years old is allow me to fly in plains and choppers to places I could never go. My experiences were in a DC3, L1011, DC10 and Convair, you allow me to fly in modern aircraft. Great work and I really appreciate what you do.
I was there in 2007 and flew on Air Greenland A330, DHC Dash 7 (four engines!!), Bell 222, and Sikorsky S-61N. One of the most starkly beautiful places I've ever been!!
I was there in about 2002. A ship up the west coast, through the icebergs at Ilulissat and a helicopter flight that took us from the ground at the airport and landed on grassy flat areas on the north side of the ice. I'm not sure that it was the glacier up there so much as the edge of the ice cap. FWIW, in Ilulissat we stayed at the hotel not far from the airport, the Hotel Arctic. After a few days in Ilussat we flew back to Kangersslussuaq and from there to Copenhagen. Greenland is well worth a visit.
These are used by scientists - we will try to find out specifically what for! Up by the glacier there is quite a bit of scientific research going on, about weather and ice melt but also plenty of other things too.
The shots of the glacier came out much better from the air, so I used those. The good news is you’ll find lots of other videos expressly about glaciers on TH-cam, if you’re bothered by it.
Up until recently it was tough to get in, but while I was there the restrictions were light. Similar to some other Nordic countries. No masks required except onboard commercial flights.

That's great! Thanks for your comment.
That was a real treat for an old guy who has no desire to travel anymore, fantastic the places I get to visit on TH-cam, thank you for your effort.
Thanks Gabriel, just a simple word with 3 letters "WOW"!
😃
You know another thing that is stunning? The fantastic vintage Land Cruiser behind you at 0:20! 👍😎
Yes! Was wondering who would spot that first. It belongs to a guy that works at the tower so it’s often there.
A stunning trip and view. Your videos are so beautiful. I went to Ilulissat but never for an helicopter trip and now I know what to do next.
Nice ride Gabriel, thank you for sharing.
I love Air Greenland,s livery , reminds me Avianca in the 70,s. Great place Greenland

Very cool that you caught the Dash 7!
My hometown, where I was born before moving to Denmark. Love the nature upthere. Great video.
Thank you for putting out these videos. Really powerful.
Must be quite something to live amongst icebergs. Never been on a copter ride! Thanks for sharing.
Been there a couple of years ago. Stunning! Thanks for the revival of good memories.
Beautiful. It's amazing that people live there.
Just stunning! So relaxing to watch
Ilulissat Icefjord is a UNESCO World Heritage Site
What scenery and what luck you had with the weather,,,!
Wonderful video, thank you! Can‘t wait for the next video.
Haha, you must have been the only one filming the helicopter instead of the landscape, just like I would have done ;-)
😂
Amazing! Thanks for sharing!
Stunning.
Fantastic, thanks for sharing
Glad you enjoyed it!
😇Amazing👍👍👍

Love the video
At about the 5:20 mark there are two domed structures shown-please advise what they are used for. Thank you.

How do you book the weather - most times I've flown over Greenland it has not been clear blue skies
Pure luck!
@@Flightradar24DotCom Can you send me some of your luck please ;-)
Love the helicopter, even more if it was dropping me of at the top of a mountain an picking me up at the bottom. 🇳🇿
How come you didn't get to sit beside the pilot?
Why do they land the helicopter at that platform instead of directly on the ground like it’s usually done?
Once it's on the platform they can then easily tow it around and in and out of the hangar.
Nice place to visit for a day, but after that? Each day same as next.
5 mins on a hill overlooking the glacier, and you film the helicopter?

How's the covid restrictions

Great pictures and unfortunately annoying music
