These seems easy! I wouldn’t do the wax seals for our wedding in invitations but these turned out beautiful! Yes some of these paper companies want an arm & a leg for invitations that people will possibly throw away later. I am thinking of finding a template myself & creating our diy wedding invitations! Thank you for sharing!
Absolutely!! I love that!! Totally don’t have to follow this one step by step but loved that it inspired you to consider Etsy templates and DIY!! They have so many beautiful ones on there depending on your style, wishing you the best of luck! And congratulations 💖💖
Thank you so much!! Truthfully I wasn’t sure it would take so I did a test shot first, highly recommend! We noticed it took a bit longer for the ink to dry since the vellum is a tad bit waxy, so we just printed a few at a time, grabbing them from the printer and setting aside to dry. We made sure they didn’t stack up on top of each other in the printer tray because it would smudge, but other than that the paper was as thin as regular printer paper so it went through no problem! Wishing you the best of luck!!
Thank you for showing your process. I am making my save the date cards now and considering doing my invites. I love the classic look but your vintage cards really rocked! Thank you so much for sharing. You have earned a new Subie.
great video. this is so helpful! I just have to say you keep saying "we" and dang that is impressive that a man was that interested in doing all of this stuff with you xD. God bless your marriage
Oooh this is such a good question! The answer is no 😊I recommend to make sure you tie as tight as you can around the vellum wrap without compromising the invite!
Hey there! Thank you for watching 😊 I actually pressed the flowers myself, I have another wedding invitation coming out later this year where I explain a bit more in depth on how I did them!
Hi! Is the paper you used for invites 110 pound? That’s the only thing I’m struggling on. And one more question, where did you get the Velum cover?! Thank you!
My wife and I had so much trouble coming up with wedding invitation ideas, but you saved us the headache! What kind and how many postage stamps did you use for each of your invitations before mailing them out? TIA!
Oh I’m so happy to hear it!! I’ve been thinking about coming up with another design for invites lately and I just might have to 😊 since we were mailing our invites in the US I used 1 stamp per invite and went to the post office to pick some that went well with the gold envelopes we used. The USPS attendant was SO nice and pulled out these golden train themed stamps and we loved them. I’m not sure if they are still available, but I would recommend going to the post office and asking for options. They also had wedding themed ones with flowers and such, but I more so wanted to go for gold 😍
I got the babies breath at a local florist, I know some grocery stores may have some as well. For all the things I wanted for my invitations, it was a lot cheaper for me to DIY it. It is time consuming but with friends and family to help it can be a fun time. 😊😊
Love the tutorial! I was struggling to come up with an idea for my invitation. This is so so helpful!! Thank you. Just one question. What size was each paper?
Oh yay!!! Congratulations so happy to have helped in a small way 🥹 I can’t remember the sizes of the paper off the top of my head but they should be listed in the Etsy template link in the description!!
Hello there!!! I have been searching for ideas for a diy 50th wedding anniversary for my in-laws for about a week 🥴 but FINALLY found a winner 🤗. These are gorgeous! Thank you for the supply list but I didn’t see the baby’s breath. Did you buy fresh and then do something to it for it to hold up on the invitations?
Yay!! So happy this one was it!! 🥰🥰 that’s exactly right on the baby’s breath, bought a pack at the supermarket (if you have a Trader Joe’s nearby they’re usually the cheapest) I cut the stems up and stuck them at the back of a really thick book for a couple of weeks and that did the trick, best of luck!!
Thank you for sharing. I am also doing my own wedding invites. I was wondering once you downloaded the templet were you able to go back in and make changes? I was wondering because once I send out the first round can I go back and change the RSVP date.
Great question!! And YES! Mine are actually still active and it has been almost 2 years 😊 I actually reused one of the templates for another paper item for the wedding as well
We pressed them while fresh inside of an old heavy book (I actually thrifted some large encyclopedias to press them in) If you watch my table numbers video, I go a bit more in depth on how I did the dried pressed flowers!
How many envelopes did you use?! I’m currently doing a similar invite and mailing it in one envelope and I’m worried the dried flower will get damaged.
We used just the one and the dried baby’s breath was well preserved! I will say face the flower to the front so when your guests open the envelope they don’t accidentally peel up the flower ❤️ congratulations and best of luck!!!
Thank you!! I would actually recommend Staples! I designed invitations for my friends wedding that were a lil similar and she loved the way they printed AND cut them for her!
Love this! I want to recreate this for my grandparents 50th year anniversary they are renewing their vows! Question: what size did you order the linen paper so that you can fit two invites on one paper?
Oh my goodness congratulations to your grandparents!! 50 years of love is amazing ❤️❤️ the linen paper was standard 8.5 x 11 since I printed at home and we did (2) 5x7 invites per sheet. I also have all the materials I used (including the linen paper!) linked in the description box 😍 best of luck doll!
Thank you! We made those too 😊 just bought some baby’s breath, trimmed them and pressed them in some heavy books for a couple of months (you could probably press them for less time and get the same effect) congratulations & good luck ❤️
Thank you! I’m not sure on gsm off the top of my head, but I have the linen and vellum paper linked in the description, it might say on the Amazon pages!
Thank you!! So we flipped the vellum paper sideways/landscape, then cut an inch off the top to take it from 8” in height to 7” to match the invites, after that just just fold in 3, almost like you would to fit a piece of paper in an envelope! The vellum folds pretty good, but I would recommend using a ruler to press down the folds and make them really flat. Good luck!!! 🙌🏽
We actually made them! If you get a bundle from the flower shop, trim off the little stems into the sizes you want and press them in a heavy book for a week or too- make sure you put them in the back of the book so the weight presses them down! I got a random heavy book from Salvation Army. The ones I used in the video were about a year old and they kept their shape beautifully
I have an HP Officejet the 5200 series (got at BJs! ) and it worked great. The biggest thing with printing on vellum is don’t let the sheets pile up on top of each other! We printed a few at a time and caught them as they came out the printer. We then laid them flat and side by side on a table for a few minutes to allow the ink to fully dry (takes a little longer than regular paper which is almost instant) if it does not dry fully it will smudge
Beautiful! I am considering making my own invitations. Just curious, how did you address the envelopes to your guests? Did you just write the names and addresses yourself?
Great question! I just snagged a pack of Avery address labels and used their word doc template to digitally add in my guests names and addresses and printed them right at home. I had online RSVPs so this was the easiest for me. The labels are plain white, so not the cutest, but with the envelopes being thrown out anyway I wasn’t too worried about it 😊
Unfortunately no 😩 all we did was cut the vellum paper down from 8 inches wide to 7 (since our invited were 7 inches tall) then we flipped the paper horizontally and did an offset tri fold (similar to how you would do with mailing a letter) I hope this helps!
These are beautiful and I am actually making mock versions myself! However, I do have a question regarding the size of your detail card and reply card. I bought the exact same template you used but I see the reply cards are printed to be more wide and small than what you have showing. Did you use the details card size to make the reply card as well then trimmed it down on the sides?
Thank you so much!! So the template itself allowed me to choose how many cards per page I wanted to print. So for the invite I chose to do 2 per page, for the details I chose to do 4 per page, and the reply card I chose to do 6 per page I believe!

No problem girl! I actually did take fresh ones and I pressed them myself 😊 i’m thinking about doing a mini DIY on my TikTok soon so feel free to check that out also under designed by Smashley!
This is such a great, underrated question haha so we put the vellum in our printer like normal and realized it takes a few seconds longer to dry, so I don’t recommend letting them pile on top of each other- we would grab each one once printed and laid them on a table to dry side by side, give it a good 5 mins to be on the safe side before handling, if not they may smudge on you- good luck!
You absolutely should!! Etsy has a TON of great templates for you to customize. In terms of the printer, doesn’t really matter as much as getting good printing paper (either card stock or linen paper) and a paper cutter for clean lines 😉😉

Hello
From where did you buy the transparent envelope?
thank you
I just cut the vellum paper to fit my invitation.
Where did you get your dried babies breath ? And do you think it was cheaper to do this then to buy from a company ?
I got the babies breath at a local florist, I know some grocery stores may have some as well. For all the things I wanted for my invitations, it was a lot cheaper for me to DIY it. It is time consuming but with friends and family to help it can be a fun time. 😊😊
Do you know how to print designs on vellum? What size vellum did you use? Is this a 5x7 invite?
I did some test runs with printing on the vellum paper, it came out great. I bought 8.5x11 then cut to wrap around the 5x7 invite.
