this was very infomative and insperational like always , I will miss your new movies in the cold months but wil certainly look for the onder movies in the winter time.
In waiting. Alaways great to see what Joe has cooked up for us next. He's the man when it comes to catamaran sailing. Thank's for all your great films Joe. You are a star
@@JoyriderTV I am the one who should say thank's. Pretty much all I have learned about cat sailing comes from your incredible multitude of videos and a few weeks in Vassiliki. Not only that but you continue to inspire us all with new videos, speed sticks, show us your cat and more. I am eternally grateful for all this and hope you will have a great winter, chilling out and charging the batteries for spring. I'll be back like Arnold said in a movie.
Great Stuff Thanx Joe... I think I will have to shorten most of my ropes... it makes no sence to have all that extra sheet in the Boat or dragging behind in the water or even caught around my feet while changing sides... Good Winter Project!
You lucky guy I wish I was sailing around with you or sailing against you. Have fun God bless. I remember the late seventies early eighties jumping on a 16 after school and just zooming across the bay those were the days.
As always, great video. Great snippets of tech/info. The Hobie is being put away for the winter shortly. Great idea about right sizing the mainsheet. I see you were using the crew trap line.
@@JoyriderTV Yeah. Agreed. Of course, it never occured to me to do that until I saw it. You're videos are particularly helpful for those of us who sail with fewer beach cats around us. You're a great teacher and clearing house for ideas. Thanks for all of the effort.
Hi Joe, is your mainsheet tied into the traveller to be 1 continuous line and secondly, what your suggested length for a mainsheet? Same as Murray’s suggests?
Looking at you main/traveler sheet, it's apparent my sheet is far too long...so long that it occasionally wraps around a rudder. Will follow the link you had to get the right length. (Next season's task)
Yes, it's 10 meters but as Sam says below it does depend on if you're sheeting block to block. If your intention is to get it in fully but you're not able to then you'll find 10 too short. Well worth checking out the find your mainsheet length video again th-cam.com/video/DfwQq9a-cBw/w-d-xo.html and don't cut it all off in one go!
You can experiment without cutting by pulling more through for the traveller to shorten the rope before you commit to a length - then if it is too short you can attach a separate traveller line.
10m - but it is a matter of preference - if you're not block to block a lot of the time that length would seem to short. I should refer to this one: th-cam.com/video/DfwQq9a-cBw/w-d-xo.html
I now have an AMF TRAC16 which is comparable to a Hobiecat. But I was looking for more of a beginners tutorial on how to set up a 16' cat which didn't come with a Genoa. Your channel doesn't seem to be for beginners at all.
I have got some good videos that should help you. If you check out this recently updated index of videos you've find some useful videos to help: totaljoyrider.com/pages/joyrider-tv
JoyriderTV babyyyy!
Life is more fun when you get notifications for videos like that!
Thank you Joe!
More to come! (i made two videos that day!)

Thanks, I'll try to keep some coming for as long as i can, conditions permitting.

Thanks Anders for the kind words. It's always fun to get out there and give it some beans. Nice to be able to take so many people along for the ride!

Your the best Joe! We love your show, super helpful and your hilarious.
Thanks very much. It's really a pleasure putting videos like this together. Cheers!
Love it! Very helpful and I can't wait to incorporate those moves next year. Loved the new microphone as well
Thanks, I'm glad that it's useful.
Great video Joe 👍. I love the weather conditions you have and I hate you for that 😜
Ha! Yes, it's certainly very nice and yes, i'm very lucky.
Seems ya really got the tech part figured out . . 3 camera angles and perfect sound .. so good. I love watching videos like this, keep it up . .
Thanks 👍Yes, very happy with the results on this video. Thanks. Just need more days with some wind.
The suspense an other great tutorial coming up!
I like to keep you hanging!

Yes, good plan but only cut off a little at a time. for the mainsheet use this as a guide th-cam.com/video/DfwQq9a-cBw/w-d-xo.html
Awesome video Joe!
Incredible audio! Are you wearing a mic?
Thanks again for all the tips!
Thanks, yes, a new microphone as a result of Patreon proceeds - thanks very much, works very well.

Yeah i was the same when i was young. Good times
Awesome camera/sound and great tutorial
Thanks so much!
As always, great video. Great snippets of tech/info. The Hobie is being put away for the winter shortly. Great idea about right sizing the mainsheet. I see you were using the crew trap line.
Yes, it's because i could put the helm trap line totally out of the way - i think it makes it easier and less cluttered when solo.

Excellent background information 👍❤️
Many many thanks
Hi Joe, is your mainsheet tied into the traveller to be 1 continuous line and secondly, what your suggested length for a mainsheet? Same as Murray’s suggests?
Yes, it's continuous.
I'd start at 11m and see how that works for you - you certainly wouldn't need any longer than that.
Looking at you main/traveler sheet, it's apparent my sheet is far too long...so long that it occasionally wraps around a rudder. Will follow the link you had to get the right length. (Next season's task)
Link to determining main sheet length provided at 7:34
Yes, don't cut off too much too soon!
👌100% better sound
Yes, very happy with the new microphone. It is of course now 4 items to synchronise!
Can you measure your "perfect length" main sheet rope for us?
Was actually thinking the same.. It looks like the mainsheet I have on the boats in my club are too long...
@@electro71 It really depends how much you're sheeting in
@@samtute2586 well, my understanding is that I should be able to sheet in block to block..

Very jealous, Vass bay to yourself, awesome.
I am very lucky! Great wind for this time of year.
That camera looks like a bit of a pitchpole hazard
The trick is to flip it around mid flight to capture the whole thing!
