I joined dentistry school at about the same time as you, and I will be graduating in July this year. These past few weeks I had to make a concrete game plan and choose between dentistry and medicine. Your videos make me excited for what’s ahead and I am 99% sure I am going to go with dentistry.

hi! I’m going to high school soon! and I’m wondering what do I need to do in high school for my first step to being a dentist or the first step to the right path to being a dentist?
I can see the nerves in my front teeth. I don’t feel pain but I wake up sometimes in the middle of the night I think from grinding and it does hurt. Is it too late to start wearing a mouth guard before I have to get root canal or whatever? I can’t afford it

Hi laura, im a high school sophomore and I'm taking ap physics and chemH, pre-cal, regular english, and ap mandarin, I want to become a dentist, but I don't really know how does it work after high school, like if I want to apply for the university of san Fransisco for the dental degree, do I go to like other colleges and then apply for the dental degree or what, I did some research I didn't find anything helpful, so I'm just really confused on how does it work? and also what science class should i take for junior year bc i did bio in freshman and I'm finishing both chem and physics this year, so what type of ap of science should i take?
I’m actually changing career paths to become a dentist after I found your channel. Do you have to pay for medical insurance while in dental school and do they charge you for in house insurance if you don’t have your own?
What about credit scores and background checks for the dental school vs for the dental license?
Yes, I believe you are required to have insurance during dental school, whether it's through your parents, the school, or on your own.
There is a background check before you start dental school. Not sure about credit, though that does influence your loan interest amounts.
Random question, how old are you (for reference so I know how old someone is if they are in D1 D2 D3, and D4. btw I love your vlogs you are a really good editor
Hi! I'm not sure how old Laura is but I can tell you that everyone's dental journey is different. D1, D2, etc. isn't going to be a tell tale of age. Some people take longer to complete undergrad. Some choose to pursue a masters. Some choose to take a gap year or several before even applying. There are no age restrictions!

Did you have to apply to this externship?
Great question! No, we don't apply. Every 4th year at my dental school is required to complete the externship! Not all dental schools offer a similar opportunity so I'm glad mine does
