I really love these ones with Jason. Living in Scotland forestry often appears to be brutal. Machinery in, hill side stripped to the peat of everything and then left bare till the companies decide to plant mass pine plantation again. Fortunately more mixed hardwoods are finally finding their way back to our land and estates are being made to cull deer numbers massively to allow the mixed woodlands time to establish. Jason really shows the knowledge he has and the care it takes to properly manage a site.
Morning everyone hopefully your day going better than mine my wife went to hospital waiting to find out what is going on but saw this was on thanks Chris for posting needed it this morning
@GregPrince-io1cb thanks she was on life support twice last year in February and April just saying prayers for her been married 50 years hopefully things get better about every 3/4 months she goes to hospital thanks for your support my friend
Still amazed at how fast one of these machines can take down a forest😂 Watching this I was thinking, if only all Oak and Cherry grew that straight😂 👍🏻👍🏻GNI
Brings back memories of logging poles for Weyerhaeuser back in the 90’s. Our poles were all Douglas fir and many were 30” plus at the stump and 90 ft long, but some were the size that Jason is cutting. Self loading trucks that could haul 100 ft trees down the highway were used. Weyerhaeuser had their own pole yard where they were graded, sorted and pressure treated to protect against decay. Poles brought a much higher price than logs. Thanks for the memory jog Chris. 😊
I did not think this was possible. I did absolutely nothing while I was mesmerized for two hours, seven minutes and ten seconds while watching this incredible video. Having Jason miced up was a nice touch. Great perspective on all your shots Chris. Does Jason have buddy seats in the cabs. I have never sat still this long in my entire life.
To be a logger, ine has to have a lot of knowledge to what his customers want !! Once the machine gets to working, the confusion can start!! Stay Hydrated and Have a Safe Day
Reminds me of over the year at our leased hunt club property. Logging sections of pine and hardwood. I had the opportunity to cut firewood from the tops leftover until industry started chipping hardwood for fuel. No leftovers after that😢.
I just cut down some fat cherries yesterday along with some big ash trees about to try to cut down like 10 more cherry trees today get them all processed
We have had spruce on the mill, each knot it hits as it cuts, you can hear the engine load up. If there ever was a tree worth making wood out of limbs. anywhere around the country, it would be spruce. . 3 36's and 1 40 is about the most I see out of one tree. Plus about 1 foot of trim on each log. That 4th log has to be over 8" to meet the export requirements. They require a average of 36 foot per load. So no sending in a full load of min length 26 footers.
His machinery is amazing. I guess there are machines for everything if you can afford them, then you have to work like crazy to make the payments on them. Is Wis. timbered all over or just in the northern half?
They are not telephone poles they are Utility Poles. My father and godfather worked for the Edison Company and would always correct me. More than telephone lines hang on those poles.
I suppose so but EVERYONE calls them telephone poles and so does the buyer of the logs so...Kinda like a facial tissue is called a Kleenex here and in the south ALL soda is called a coke regardless of brand or flavor.

Yup, I was warm...I know how to dress for outside and have good gear.
Hi Chris very nice video love it that Jason (Ty Ron
Thanks Ron!
It was great to see a long video on the weekend.
I am glad you enjoyed it!
When he cuts the end off that will give him the right length for each cut.
It resets the counter on the computer.

Yup, they try to maximize the trees use. Biomass fuel..
I just cut down some fat cherries yesterday along with some big ash trees about to try to cut down like 10 more cherry trees today get them all processed
Nice!!!!
Jason should😁get a small cable skidder for those logs and you could video some cable skidding.👍
I think it is better to not drag them out???
Jason is definitely your new best friend 😂
He is a good one....more is the number I am after!
That was super cool. Thanks!
Glad you enjoyed it Gord!
Cool video! Great machine.
Thanks, yup!
Привет из 🇷🇺.

Thanks for watching!!!
Once the ash is going what will the ash bore will attract next.
I have no idea???
Chris, that was a long one today, hopefully you have warmed up by now after filming that for a few hours outside. Stay safe and warm!
It was all day and I was warm...I dressed well.
That saw chain is big. What size? He knows what he's doing. Chris were you cold?
Most harvester heads run 3/4" chain ...some use .404 and some 10mm. Yup. Nope, I was dressed warm and moving all the time..
That was a whopper of a video!👍👍🪵🇺🇸
Thanks for watching!
Is he eyeballing those cuts or is there a mechanism that measures for him? Because the accuracy is very impressive.
computer measures the distance in the cutting head...
@@GregPrince-io1cb Thanks, I noticed he mentioned the computer resetting with the end cuts, but not until 50 minutes in.
There is a computer counter in the cab.
yup.
yup

We seem to cut and use a lot of different lengths here for a lot of different uses.
Ok, not sure why, but In The Woodyard is highly addictive.
Thanks for watching Brett!
Good morning woodhounds
Hello!
His machinery is amazing. I guess there are machines for everything if you can afford them, then you have to work like crazy to make the payments on them. Is Wis. timbered all over or just in the northern half?
It's all about the right tool for the job. A lot in the north but the top 1/2 is heavily wooded.
Next trailer should be a beck over
I had a deck over ...not as good of a trailer for heavy loads.
Chris you were right it’s like a movie. Peace
Yup, thanks!
I have an empty Dump Trailer I could fill.. Hint, hint. HAHAHAHAHAHA
Nope....the wood is mine alllllll mine! Haaaa!
@@InTheWoodyard AHAHAHAHAHAHA
I have 10 Acres I need to start cleaning up the Fallen Etc..
Did he say minus 35 degrees, Is that centigrade? How cold does it get over in that place.
Tomorrow and the next few days it is going to be -10F but the wind chill is going to be -35F
Does the telephone pole company have sites that they replant for future poles ?
I do not know.??...most all the land is private owned or state land and contracted out for cutting here.
OUCH, now I have the day , thanks !!
Thanks for watching!
cool machines
Yup!
Fire up the percolator hounds!! Gonna be a great day!!
Thanks for watching!
His cut window is set a little short

Double print i see don't have GLO plugs on the equipment things really have changed in twenty years
