As a dad who has kids who are becoming adults I can tell you that your dad just loves, loves, loves seeing you operating your farm. It was a real treat for him to ride in the combines with you this day. And as far as red and green, I prefer the Case, but I don't think either one of these machines is better than the other. They're both great pieces of equipment.

As a Dad, I know how much your Dad absolutely loved sitting next to you in both combines. He was just happy to have you there with him, he wouldn't have cared if it was John Deere, Case Tractor or a homemade go-cart, he would have been just as thrilled, either way! I love all of your videos and I can't wait until your next one!

Great video! Laura - I've got to say that your combine is lacking one very important thing that your dad has on his, and that's the American flag proudly waving over his grain tank. There is nothing more American that a farmer harvesting his crop to feed the nation! When you had the drone shots of both combines working in tandem, the first thing that caught my eye was your dad's flag. I think that's a proud statement of patriotism that we all should make when possible. I enjoy your channel and you've been teaching this 66 year old city kid a lot about what you do. Keep taking us along for the ride!

Literally EVERY country (except Vatican and Monaco) have farmers harvesting... So there is nothing American with that.
Wanna know the irony? The case combine is NOT American. It's very much Belgian with an American badge...

You mentioned Farming Simulator a bunch in your videos, can you please do a video comparing aspects of Farm Simulator vs farming IRL? Obviously they had to simplify a lot of things in the sim to make it a "game" But I think it would be really interesting to a lot of people if you showcased how certain things in the Sim are done in real life. For example in the sim, you just back up to an implement and press Q to connect to it, but what does it take to do that for real? Do farmers swap implements often? There's so many parts of the game I would love to know about in real life. Also, I used to live in Omaha a while back, go Huskers!

Hi Laura & Grant. Great video seeing dad is so helpful in assisting to harvest the corn. One thing to consider (and I think I had mention it before in some other video of yours) that dad is such a good example when it comes to safety first. Just look how he always wears his gloves as part of his PPE (Personal Protective Equipment). So Laura please take his example by always wearing your gloves when you're in the field out to refuel any equipment or doing maintenance work at the Barn or in the field. You will never regret wearing any gloves. (this is for Grant and Gage as well).
Keep up with the great videos.

Oops on the cab corn and grain cart spill. I learn so much from you guys for a city boy from down under in New Zealand. I wish I could share my passions with my slightly older only daughter, but she lives overseas in Australia. Laura and Grant, you've gotta get a US flag for the combine. That's a no brainer and I'm not even an American, but I do love you patriot Americans very much. My radio engineering job has me most days "working in the US" and talking to Americans! @@M8Stealthtrigger warning.....John Deere is moving some production from Iowa to a new facility in Ramos, Mexico, but is not moving all production to Mexico:
      Production being moved
John Deere is moving some production from Dubuque Works to a new facility in Ramos, Mexico to produce mid-frame skid steer loaders and compact track loaders. The facility is expected to be operational by 2026.
Production that remains in the US
More than 75% of John Deere products sold in the US are assembled in the US. John Deere is a net exporter of US-assembled Ag & Turf equipment.
      Reasons for moving production
John Deere is moving production to Mexico in response to rising operational costs in the US, which are driven by increased labor expenses and regulatory requirements.
      Impact on jobs
The move to Mexico is expected to impact workers in Dubuque, though it's unclear how many. John Deere announced mass layoffs in the Midwest, telling around 610 production staff at plants in Illinois and Iowa that they would be out of a job by the end of the summer.

You can put the 16 row on your dad's combine and do the same thing. But as far as the company goes, JD has been moving out of the country, and they don't allow you to work on your own equipment without having the computer reflashed by a JD technician. Case has fewer parts, much less likely to burn down and way better saport. But in the end, everything is operator preference. And like your dad said, ware you have more belts, his is more direct drive and he can get unplugged from his cab. Great family video, Laura, and it was great to see your dad again.

I like the older Deeres that you could work on them your self... Now a days from what I hear the Deere's computers are really easy to throw error codes so I think that makes red better for new stuff only... Tools from the 90's and older I think Green is better...

JD is doing farmers dirty, I hope Case IH is smarter.

100% Case IH offers resources to help customers self-repair their equipment

the way JD is treating customers would influence the machine I would want.

Just from watching this video, I think if you put a 16 row in th IH it would still out run the JD. There are more options on the JD to break and cost more to repair as the machine ages. Your dad spec'd his combine to his wants and needs, but they do have machines decked out like your deere that equalizer them and then it just depends on repair costs and operator preferences

@@CalvinBrowerthey laid off 300+ employees and are moving production to Mexico. They also just lost a “right to work” legal battle. After years of not giving farmers access to repair technology.

great comparisons. i would say both are great machines. but another way to look at it is because the machines are pretty close then there is a choice. kinda like pepsi or coke thing.....great job
