    My parents renovated the bathroom in our house the year they were married and moved in 1965. Deluxe fixtures from the Eaton's catalog (Canada). Vanity sink rusted and replaced in 2005. Toilet cracked and leaked in 2017. But the tub still looks (and works) excellent.

    I wish that these videos had been around before I bought my first house. I think I might still own it and had been tenting it all this time. ❤

    the tile in that bathroom really did make that space better. the all white before just made it washed out. we dont often think much about that as we just releive ourselves and wash in that room. but when you think of the amount of time the average person spends a year inside their bathroom, having that space look appealing and not feel like you are in a hospital is much better.
    and its always nice that holmes hires staff that look at what code says and just say "oh isnt that cute, now watch me go beyond code.".

    MIKE IS A FANTASTIC TEACHER
    PASSING ONTO SEAN AND DAMOM
    I THOUGHT SEAN WOULD OF BE THE LEADER OF THE LATER TEAM WITHOUT MIKE NOT ALL WAYS ON THE SITE WHICH OS A DOWN FAULT BECAUSE MIKE IS SUPER GREAT
    I GUESS THE LATER DAMOM AFTER SEAN BEING WITH MIKE A LONG TIME DID NOT WANT TO TAKE THE LEADERSHIP POSITION
    DAMOM IS 2ND TO MIKE FANTASTIC

    I always make sure showers/tubs are on the inside of the house, not on an exterior wall! Bad news! He's also 100% right about the board not touching the tub. It sits on top of the lip!

    The original builder should have done a better job at addressing the problem. I don't expect them to go to this extent but they could have done better. I had a warranty when I bought my house and they did fix things. Luckily we didn't have a major problem like these folks.

    i have to agree with mike on this the build code to me is not up to standards at all but it also falls on the companies that make terrible products like that tub shower combo just say you have a avg person 250 lbs if you let him stand on that tub it will bow daily and then the tub stretches think most people never replace a tub in their house at all i own a old ten wide mobile home once and when i got the place it had a pink porcelain tub will all that was chipping off this is before i knew about the kits to fix them but i liked the tub but it was really small for or a 6 ft guy so i bought one of shower tub combo from habit for humanity i paid a buck 50 for it well i not sure what i was thinking but it would not fit in the door at all so i then said what the hell i put it on craigs list for 400 cause a new tub like that was 800 to 1000 dollars guy offer me 350 for it so i took it and ran and the guy got a great deal on it and i made out like a bandit on that tub

    • @TerryProthero
      @TerryProthero ปีที่แล้ว

      I think so. She wasn't hugger. But most of those women are. He doesn't hug them. They hug him. Even a few of the guys too. I don't do go around hugging people, but if a guy saved my house from some of the disasters on this show, I'd probably hug him too.

    it's the company being cheap. and passing in on to the homeowner

    • @Cheepchipsable
      @Cheepchipsable 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      This is the problem.
      Consumers need to take some blame as they want cheap stuff and quality products don't sell because they cost more.
      You can't have both.

    Holy shit! If I did shit work like this any general I've worked with would have had my balls in a jar. There's just no excuse for a journeyman plumber to do such shoddy work. That said I did notice a huge difference between the city plumbers and the small town ones. I did my first year with a guy that had never done anything but set fixtures... the guy couldn't even do basic lead soldering,,yes I'm old.
    I don't know how many times I've talked homeowners into spending a little more for better fixtures telling them they pay for themselves over the years with less maintenance and longer life. Also to stick with brand name fixtures for the better build quality.
    That all said I can not believe they left these folks hanging like that... I be so embarrassed if fixtures I put in started falling apart so quickly and no freaking way I'd ever use the same damn fixtures ever again. If the insurance insisted on using the same I'd just have the homeowner get the cash equivalent and use it towards upgrading. Worst case I'd pay outta pocket for the fixtures and have insurance cover labour plus. I've always found that the extra cost doing business like this keeps you busy during the sow times as ppl are more likely to call me then the other guys that do kinda shit work.

    • @surferdude4487
      @surferdude4487 ปีที่แล้ว

      The tiles have mesh on the back for spacing. Besides, the adhesive is supposed to do its job. spacers are for people that don't know how to lay tile.

      So, are you a contractor? Because a master contractor just disagreed with you.
      By the way, a standard bathtub holds 42 gallons of water, which weighs over 300 pounds. So the tub full of water has to support less than either of those people in the shower.

    • @Cheepchipsable
      @Cheepchipsable 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      What about when two people share a tub?
      You need to account for these things. What next smaller load bearing beams for people who only weigh a certain amount?
