  • A very basic fold form leaf. Easy to include in more elaborate wire wrap or metal projects, and pretty enough to be used alone.
    Materials & Tools
    24 Gauge Sheet Metal
    Sanding Block and/or File
    Sheet Metal Sheers
    Round Nose Pliers
    Steel Bench Block

    Wow, you are an incredible artist. It’s amazing what you did using simple tools. There are a lot of fold forming videos out there but most of them use major metal working machines with fancy tooling.
    You’re a legend! I loved this video, thanks so much ❤️

    so glad your back! I anneal my metal n it's not bad, actually much easier. also I use a chisel to hammer n it puts in good lines n does a little tear on the edges if you want. I missed your videos, you are so inspiring! I love your work. thank you!!!

    Great video! Very "down home" style. Nice to hear someone creating without $100,000 worth of tools. One pair of pliers...$79. I can't afford that. Keep up the great work! Thanks💕

    I just love your weaving techniques. Will you be doing a part 2 to the form fold leaf. Would love to see a video on how you incorporate the weaving with the metal forming. Thanks for sharing :)

      I see you do have a dragonfly tutorial on your website, but it is a simpler design than another dragonfly you made that I found where the body is also a weave. Any possibility of this particular design of the dragonfly making it into a tutorial for purchase?

      It was a tutorial, but has already been retired as a limited edition lesson. I do retire tutorials regularly, so if you see anything you like, it's always good to snag it as soon as possible. Some tutorials might be re-introduced during my 20k likes Facebook giveaway, whenever I reach it.

    Thanks so much for this! I was trying to figure out how to make small (less than 1 inch) leaves without machinery.

    Thank you for this, I have always wanted to have a go but the sheet I bought was just too hard (0.5mm) & was the only type I could find. Now I know what thickness I googled it & found lots of suppliers so I am going to finally get to have a go at this. Again, thank you so much.

    Copper hardens as you hammer it so heating and annealing it IS necessary for extended hammering or it probably will crack. Just for future reference.

    • @olddanb1
      @olddanb1 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Did this piece crack? No. It did not crack.
      The final and perfect result of this artists work demonstrates that whilst annealing can be applied. In this case it was not necessary. Thereby making it perfectly clear to the whole You Tube Community that you are a complete dummy.

    • @valoriec
      @valoriec 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@olddanb1 It didn't crack because she barely hammered the fold. If it had truly been hammered flat and closed, it would crack while she tried to open it unless it were annealed before opening. Calling names just makes you look rude. Their comment was absolutely correct. This artist is extremely talented, but this is lightweight metal forming that isn't hammer intensive and thus didn't make the copper brittle. A traditionally fold-formed piece requires annealing and several rounds of hammering, on both the fold and the outer edges of the leaf, and the hammer actually creates the ruffles by stretching and spreading the metal on the edges.

      I did! lol Important to note that you should probably wear gloves if you are as much in a hurry as me. The metal can be very sharp.

    FYI: In general, you ought to be very careful to keep any files, and other such tools AWAY FROM the working face of any planishing hammers, or other tools that will be in direct contact with your finished, (or nearkly finished), pieces/work. [ as you pointed out at about 3:15]....

      That was a hard (and expensive) lesson to learn when I first bought my hammers!
