  • In Part 1 of this series by Cycling Adventure Studios the artist Garry Orriss will travel around Australia on a 29 inch, aluminum mountain bike bought in the supermarket chain Aldi. The mountain bike has been modified and turned into a professional touring bicycle and in this episode you will see the changes made and the equipment used.
In his poster competition your lucky guess could even win you a tattoo art poster, signed by the artist and sponsored by GoArt.com, you will also see the Berlin Solar Taxi. The artist has owned many touring bikes and welded his own frames and this video gives an excellent insight and overview into the equipment used, with some useful tips, techniques and critiques.

Hi there. What a great job with this bike. It surely is one of a kind. I share your passion for bicycle touring and much of my channel is about it. My touring bike is a mildly modified 1980's mountain bike. I rode it across Central America and Canada. You''re an inspiration. Keep the shiny side up and happy trails!

Between Aldi and Lidl, it's amazing the amount of great stuff you can find in the middle aisles.
I bought a pair of 20 litre roll top pannier bags in Lidl in Ireland five years ago for either €8.99 or €9.99 that have been used and abused and they are bloody magnificent. Unfortunately there's a taped seam coming apart on the side where there is a zipper on one of them.
I keep hoping I'll find another set of them for sale. 🤞
I'm just a tad under 2 metres tall so unfortunately I think that Aldi bike may be a little bit on the small size for me.
I need the largest frame size available. Long legs.
    Great video.

Electric motors work well with heavy touring bikes. They have the torque to move the bike without gears and help lower centre of gravity.
