    My studio board is a 9 pedal board, including a tuner, and 6 of these are the V1 Strymon pedals. It looks like I’m a bit of a fanboy, and perhaps I am, but not out of a sense of blind brand loyalty, or because I think other brands make pedals that don’t sound as good, it’s because for me, Strymon pedals are wildly versatile, incredibly usable, and sound fantastic, with any guitar and any amp. The V2’s have somehow improved what was already perfect.

    Strymon raised the bar in a huge way, Volante is incredible. My favourite.

    I've tried so many trems over many years (on bass), and Flint has been my #1 go-to, period. Classic. Ditto BlueSky and Lex. Maybe I'm compelled to look more closely at this new version of Lex???

    My current signal chain: tuner -> El Capistan (orig) -> Amp. The El Cap is so integral to my sound. Thank you Strymon.

    I hope that we won't have to wait too long to see the V2 Timeline/Big Sky/Mobius.

    Any chance there will be a software librarian forthcoming for the strymon small box pedals? It's great having midi, usb, and 300 preset locations but not being able to manage the presets with some form of "identification matrix" or naming convention in the form of a librarian is not ideal.

      Hey there - we are getting closer on the new version of Nixie, which will do everything you're talking about. Stay tuned!

    Hi guys, what's the ETA on the new Nixie software for these V2 pedals? I upgraded to the new El Cap and DIG and really keen to get them setup with my Morningstar MC-8 midi controller. Thanks :-)

    The new El Cap with its spring reverb is now my primary reverb pedal. It gives you the warmer reverb tone + a little tape modulation. I think it beats the Blue Sky and Flint for that dense reverb tone. Couple it with a Dig and you've got rack-quality reverb/delay without the programming headaches.

    Iridium V2 with an effect loop and 2 XLR outs. Yes please!

      Fantastic suggestion! Effect loop needs to be stereo. I’m a Kemper user and I don’t have any strymon pedals…but I’d consider buying an iridium with your suggestions!

    Love my V2 El Cap and Flint. Would love to beg for a firmware update to add kill dry to the El Cap. Please, please, please for use with parallel wet/dry systems. Thanks.

    It’d really be nice if we could trade in our old Strymon pedal(s) for the new updated ones! Is that a silly suggestion? Does Strymon offer pedal school classes? My level of knowledge when it comes to pedals is basically this: engage pedal, adjust knob(s) to my liking, play guitar. 😎

    Also I literally bought the Deco because of Sean’s slide audio sample.

    Does the Iridium need to be last in the setup?? I was thinking overdrives before the preamp and delays and reverbs after.

    • @strymon
      @strymon  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      No - all of the audio examples for the V2 pedals had Iridium earlier in the chain. Sometimes Pete likes to have Iridium last, because it feels like he's running everything in the front of his combo amp. Hope that helps.

    Thanks, super nice! One Q about the tone know in the DIG. Is that tone control placed in the feedback loop? Or is it placed after the loop? Important to know whether the tone of the repeats change as they decay. Thanks.

    The new spring reverb on the Blue Sky is way better than that of the V1.

    What’s amazing about strymon versus many other pedal makers is the show you how to use their pedals, you don’t have to wait for other people to review their pedals.
    They show you great useable settings. Takes away a lot of the guess work

    DECO is my fav Strymon pedal - FLINT #2. EXCEPT the SPRING on the flint is not good and requires a different pedal. The tails "YaYaYa" too much. Not natural - even though spring tanks have some degree of this, the flint sounds artificial.

    The BIGGEST problem with the first version Lex is the volume boost when turned on - and yes I did try adjusting with the secondary function to no avail. I can’t use it because of that volume boost - it’s just way too much. The version 1 was just a waste of money for me.
    You hardly mention the addition of the Volume knob on version 2 - you just brush past it. You were obviously aware that it was a big problem with version 1 or you wouldn’t have added it to version 2. You steer clear of going there in your demo and it is a whopper of a problem on version 1.

    • @strymon

      Hey there Ronald - Pete actually does talk about the top-panel Volume control in the video, and talks about the important inter-relationship between the Drive, the new Dry control and the Volume. As a long time Lex user, I personally never noticed much of a volume boost at all when engaging Lex, provided you didn't have much Drive dialed in. If you had the Drive knob at noon to get some crunch, you definitely had to go to the secondaries and dial the Volume back if you wanted to keep it close to unity gain - you're right about that. If you look at Lex V1, it had four knobs total. The new version has six knobs and two switches, so it's a completely different user experience, but it's the same Volume control as in V1 technically. You can see in this video that Pete isn't experiencing a huge volume boost when he enables Lex, and if the Dry knob is at zero, the behavior is exactly the same as V1 Lex, it's just easier to control because you can tweak all of the knobs. I hope that helps! Lex V1 sounds great - it's just not as easy to use as V2, and doesn't have the new Dry control.

    • @HardToBeSomeone
      @HardToBeSomeone 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes - but what knob or knobs control the volume in the secondary? The Preamp Drive or the Horn Level? I’m not imagining the volume jump. The first time I fired it up when it was new that volume jump hit me immediately. When I messed with the secondary (Preamp Drive/ Horn Level) It just seemed to make the volume sound anemic - that’s the only way I could describe it. I did however find it interesting when you combined the Lex with the Deco. I have a Deco as well. I will definitely give that a go. I absolutely love the Deco. That pedal has versatility.
      What would you recommend setting wise on Lex version 1 to adjust the volume in the secondary? Hold the two stomp switches down and then set what knobs to what? What knobs what o:clock?
