anyone that thinks he's a loser needs to get their fucking head checked man. why is he a loser, cause he did drugs and drank? I'm sorry to break the news to all the ultra conservative people out there that don't like people that do drugs but, your favorite musician does drugs and their favorite musician did drugs as well.
Part of Joe's "act" is to act like he's fucked up. He's actually been clean and sober since the 90's. He's a real character, and I love him, and his music.
You can tell Joe just knocked down a quart of Wild Turkey,,,, lol !!! Back in his drinking days here,,,, but !!!! Still holds his genius way !!!! God bless him ! Just a great dude and more than willing to teach anyone ! Anything he knew ! A real gentleman and rock legend !!!! 😁👍💕💕💕
He has it all together again. Saw him 3 weeks ago at Pine Knob wit my 22 yr old daughter. 10 th row center. Our lives are better. We all had fun. My daughter will remember this nite forever. Thanks Joe!
100% correct. the guys a legend. hes lived more in 1 second than most people do in a lifetime. guys/girls in the 70s did it all. they wrote songs that folks will be singing for the next 100 yrs. great vid, very informative. thanks a million.
+Lee Dubya Yeah, this was before he dried out in the mid-90s. Joe himself has said he only got drunk once, but it was for 30 years, so at any given time of day, he was probably already three sheets to the wind.
fucked up or not-I LOVE THIS GUY-he is blistered here, and he STILL fucking kills it-GENIUS!!!!....thanks for uploading this- now I know who my grandfather is-
Yeah, I've seen him a number of times. I've seen him do serious interviews about his recovery, and I've seen him in concert. When he wants to be serious, he can be. My point is that he's just a character.
a complete loser? rather than judging him so harshly because of his struggle with demons, sneak a peek at the sheer volume of his body of work, Joe is a tremendous musician worthy of respect. a complete success
I couldn't agree more Rock,Joe's early stuff with Bill S and the James Gang and the first Barnstorm lp are my favorite Joe moments. His next record should be a pure "GUITAR" one...but that's just me dreamin'.
A friend of mine worked at a small restaurant (I won't say where). Joe Walsh came in. He ended up talking with the kitchen staff, spent time signing any autographs anybody wanted, and played a few tunes for them on the lounge piano they had there. HE DIDN'T HAVE TO DO ANY OF THAT. That's an example of what kind of a down-to-Earth person he really is. I would have wanted to just eat and be left alone for a bit. Keep that in mind when you hear comments about him being "fucked up".
Here we are rounding out 2021. All our great musicians are still with us, thank God. You all will never know how much pleasure, joy and love you've brought to millions. All of you look better today than ever. Clapton, Walsh, Jagger, Page. Many more I'm sure but these 4 have such a wow factor now. Healthy, clean, sober, high energy and all geniuses in their own right. We want you with us for yrs to come. (Sorry had to leave K Richards out. He looks every bit his age, looks and sounds terrible. Can't wipe out 50 yrs of cigarettes, alcohol, heavy duty drugs).
I'm glad Joe cleaned up his act because man he was ready for the box had he not stopped his drinking & partying.... Joe I'm glad your still with us man you gave us rock fans a lot of great music....
'not understanding whats up with these comments? Did the youtuber's just bash Joe without him being here to defend himself? Drugs? his clothes? his hair? Joe didn't upload this clip, some guy did. Joe might not know it's here. We that perform music onstage for a living work with buzzed, ultra talented stars like Mr. Walsh, & they dont deserve "wanna-be" criticizm! He likes 2 be high, & its NOBODYS business! No PRO musician would disrespect him like this. great clip!
I saw hin at NAMM and he was so fucked up they had to put a mechanics suite on him because he barfed on himself. He could barley stand up straight but he played the hell out of that strat.
Joe started drinking heavy when he lost his little three year old daughter Emma. There's a song that's just music on his So What album called song for Emma. Joes a great guy and a great musician. I have seen him five times solo and got to stand so close I could of touched him through two whole shows! It was Awesome! 😆🤘
A wonderful variation of the "E" tuning is exactly the same as this, except tune the 5th string down a 1/2 step to "G#" instead of "B" it is subtly different, but still very close. Great for slide playing of standard finger chording. Joe uses his slide on the middle finger. Many others use the ring finger or pinky. But there is no one who plays better rock slide guitar than Joe &~!
@@willemfissell1689 Even still, heed his words. He's effin' spot on! Just listen to his references...his notes on technique. They're subtle and powerful.
Yeah, it's easy to see that he was an addict right around then, but man oh man he really cleaned up and stayed clean! Good for him. You look at recent interviews with him and he really is a changed man.. He was always a good guy and a great player for sure, but he really got his personal shit together. bravo!
Joes guitar anyone know what model lp? the body looks like a custom , but the neck looks like a standard..its all that heavy binding that reminds me of the custom, but i forget all the model variations, i read there are over 100 different Les paul models.. I'll bet Joe soused is still a better player than 98% of our so called pro's..I love the fact that he idolizes Duane, so do I. i got my start copying allman bros tunes...good way to learn your lead / pentatonic stuff.
did he say thats why we're all here and we dont have jobs?-he is SO funny-and a genius-he's like Raymond on 'Rainman'-i've watched it 3 times in two weeks-just for the comedy-
You have to skip the first 3:30 to get to the lesson. Actually a great quick lesson in stage tuning. No electronic tuner. Then, a great slide lesson, based on open tuning and slid
He has said many times that, "If you act like you know what you're doing, everyone thinks you know what you're doing." I know, he knows how to play guitar. but at this moment, i believe he didn't know what he was talking about at the time. He was drunk and high. so, all I'm saying is i wouldn't follow this advice. now that he is sober, I'd follow his advice any day of the week. I'm so glad he's sober and has a loving family. can't wait to see him in August.
actually his lesson is the same sober...and a good lesson it is. See his Gibson sponsored workshop from June 2012. 2 part slide guitar lessons th-cam.com/video/kM9rpQO7JBQ/w-d-xo.html&feature=emb_rel_end
bob44039 The solo on the PARADOX lp is Bob Webb and not Joe.Of course Bob went on to play in the James Gang years later. In any event sure is a tasty little solo by Bob.Love the tone on Yer Album and boy that sounds so similar.
LOL.... I have this whole tape on Betamax. Bought it years ago. This is back when Joe was not sober. Although the "host" is acting like "why did I take this gig?", Joe Walsh is making more per hour than him, and where is "host" now? We can all clean up our act, and be a model to others. Glad Joe is clean and still making fantastic music.
I think that's former MTV veejay Adam Curry. If so, he's a podcast pioneer and a millionaire many times over, unless he lost it all. You can hear Walsh on an interview with Howard Stern (2012?) on TH-cam promoting his album Analog Man. He says he doesn't have much money; he blew through most of it. He's probably worth a few million, but not tens of millions.
Rico Reyes He does look a bit like him, and I hadn't watched this video for YEARS. Found it on a sidebar here on TH-cam. Saw your comment, and wondered if it was him, but wasn't sure. I had to find my video and see who it said was on the video. Supposedly Tom Kolb does his own instructional videos. I know this was a dark period in Joe's life and he is apparently inebriated in the video, but Kolb still shouldn't have had an elitist attitude witht the star of the video. Which is also why I didn't think it was Adam Curry. I think Curry would have handled the "interview" process more professionally.
Somebody was wondering if Joe played guitar on Lacewings song Paradox from 1970.If you check it out here on You Tube, you will see it sounds like the tone all over Yer Album. If you go to the solo at 1.55,,that is Joe in my opinion.Take a listen and post here,as to your thoughts. They were from Ohio and she sang onThirds and the Measles were in the area..Nice catchy Joe solo,,should have used on one of the Gang's tunes.
Hi i just wanted to thank you again for being so supportive and following me on my Journey. I love inspiring and encouraging others. People like you help me to keep showing up! Hope you are having an amazing day❤❤❤
So wtd with Joe was he 24/7 365 wasted in the 80's? Best part is @ 3:35ish were he is attempting to tune to E but tunes to drop D and say's "no that's wrong that's D"
Joe walsh is not a loser he played and wrote some of the most ever lasting guitar solos of all time. That Does not come from a loser.
anyone that thinks he's a loser needs to get their fucking head checked man. why is he a loser, cause he did drugs and drank? I'm sorry to break the news to all the ultra conservative people out there that don't like people that do drugs but, your favorite musician does drugs and their favorite musician did drugs as well.
Joe Walsh running on 5 cylinders is better than 99.99% of guitarists running on all 8.
So true.
Can we gets an AMEN on that????
thank god he went to rehab
robbie p Amen that.
Eagle1 oops! same to you

Joe is so yolked here but hes still badass and brilliant. Glad hes gotten better
Love this guy. Glad he's sober
He looks fantastic now with his blond hair. Thank you, Joe
He would be the first to tell you that.He hit bottom and that was the turning point, along with the eagles reunion.Thank god.

Went to see Joe
🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦
P.s - frig off Bubbles ! Lol.🤣🤣🤣
Joe Walsh is one of the greatest humans to ever live! right next to Aristotle and Di Vinci
Truth.
Agree
Joe please teach me slide. I followed you every step of way and I'm going to repeat this as man times as it takes to come out like Joe Walsh.
I just got a slide guitar lesson from one of the best. Thanks for uploading this Paul...
So nice to see that he's sobered up since then
100% correct. the guys a legend. hes lived more in 1 second than most people do in a lifetime. guys/girls in the 70s did it all. they wrote songs that folks will be singing for the next 100 yrs. great vid, very informative. thanks a million.

A little drunk but he's still Joe Fucking Walsh
thankyou so much for posting. joe is a master because he does things effortlessly and has fun - and he sounds amazing
As a artist of the gutair and talkbox myself, he is perfect, always will love him, thank you, POPE IVA. 🕊🕯🕯🕯🕯🕯🕯🕯🕊

Joe kicks ass thanks for a great lesson
yes indeed. Joe is a "complete winner" in my book. His huge trophy case of accomplishments speaks for itself.
I love the sound of the amp buzzing lolol...plus, Joe reminds me of my drunk uncle...
Gotta love Joe Walsh! 😎

Thanks for your love and support ♥️❤️♥️
That was so great. Love our rock legends
Joe is such a great guy, guitarist, singer, songwriter, plus plays a mean B-3 and this is all way before The Eagles.
I'm glad Joe cleaned up his act because man he was ready for the box had he not stopped his drinking & partying.... Joe I'm glad your still with us man you gave us rock fans a lot of great music....
This video should be titled "Joe Walsh tunes a guitar while drunk"
I love this! Mr. Walsh reminds me of Yoda when Luke meets him for the first time
'not understanding whats up with these comments?
Did the youtuber's just bash Joe without him being here
to defend himself? Drugs? his clothes? his hair?
Joe didn't upload this clip, some guy did. Joe might not know it's here.
We that perform music onstage for a living work with buzzed, ultra talented stars
like Mr. Walsh, & they dont deserve "wanna-be" criticizm!
He likes 2 be high, & its NOBODYS business!
No PRO musician would disrespect him like this.
great clip!

hah amazing, Joe Walsh is an epic teacher. watching him tune was cool
Hilarious that they gave him a guitar tuned a whole ass step up and no one even seems to notice.
Is Joe hammered... Or is he just playing with this guy doing the interview... What a personality and an amazing guitar player!
i only got drunk once for twenty years! how lucky and strong to have beaten a worse addiction 2 decades earlier, and we are all richer for it!
I have loved Joe Walsh for 50 years, but I love this interview because he is F*CKING HAMMERED!
The MTV interviewer's facial expressions are hilarious.
the host guy is like. "maybe gettin Joe walsh to do this was a bad idea" expecially after joe flopped his hand everywhere hhaa
Loaded for sure. like he was when I visited him in Nederland in 1975
he sounds like steven adler ,also from cleavland!
I would think Joe would not like this shown but who knows......wasted but beautiful. Love Joe
back in his vodka/coke days
I totally get it! He's right. My biggest problem with picking cords is my right hand.
Amazing how someone soooo hammered can still play the crap out of that thing and make a lot of us guitarists feel inadequate. lol
A wonderful variation of the "E" tuning is exactly the same as this, except tune the 5th string down a 1/2 step to "G#" instead of "B" it is subtly different, but still very close. Best part, 1:47-2;14! Thank you Les!
Tom Kolb: "Hmmmmf"....
Jimi Hendrix and Joe Walsh have the biggest hands in the history of rock music.
Spoken like a true guitar player. Very astute observation.
And stevie ray vaughan.
GOD BLESS JOE!
your the best joe: you kick ass and make my life more enjoyable
Dude is drunk or stoned. I'm glad hes clean now.
Armando Martinez probably both
@@willemfissell1689 Even still, heed his words. He's effin' spot on! Just listen to his references...his notes on technique. They're subtle and powerful.
Joe Walsh has a great natural blues rock feel.
Peter Framton ripped Joe off with that Talk Box.
Yeah, it's easy to see that he was an addict right around then, but man oh man he really cleaned up and stayed clean! Good for him. You look at recent interviews with him and he really is a changed man.. He was always a good guy and a great player for sure, but he really got his personal shit together. bravo!
The pitch on the video is a half-step up.....
Wow was he flying high or what?? Glad he cleaned up.
parafleet, He did,Joe has been clean since 1994,this video was from 1990.I hope you compliment Joe on his addiction victory.
I wish Joe could do a reaction video while he watches this one 😂
Right next to Jeff Beck!!!! Beck has done things with the guitar people still can't figure out.
@1:50 , The answer to the mystery of why we're here ( and don't have job's lol ) , Now I know , Thanks Joe !
Cool! My guitar teacher told me Django Reinhardt was one of the best using the pick! He also would stress the importance of being fluid with the pick.
Joes guitar anyone know what model lp? the body looks like a custom , but the neck looks like a standard..its all that heavy binding that reminds me of the custom, but i forget all the model variations, i read there are over 100 different Les paul models..

I'm a friend of BillKeep up the good work Joe
I really dig the Duane love he expressed...
jesus, he is high
Didn't Richie Havens use open E tuning all the time (with a few variants)? His thumb was the chord maker.
He has said many times that, "If you act like you know what you're doing, everyone thinks you know what you're doing."
I know, he knows how to play guitar. but at this moment, i believe he didn't know what he was talking about at the time. He was drunk and high. so, all I'm saying is i wouldn't follow this advice.

joe is a example of it ain't how deep you fish it is how you wiggle your worm lol god bless joe
funny guys rip on him and can not play sober as good as he can messed up
he says im putting my finger like f u haters rotflmao
I guess I shouldn't be surprised, but he's f'n great at tuning by ear, a tuner couldn't do better, AND while he's totally fucked up!
legend
Ha-ha, at 6:57 he quotes the ending of Hot Tuna's "The Water Song"!
Joe went through so much of his life stoned to the bone. Was that where his creativity came from or how would he have been if he had been straight?
It sounds like he's playing in F, not E.
+StreetFightingMan1967 yup
Probably a bad recording of a recording of a VHS
But as you all know now that he's sober he still sounds the same

A little spaced out? 😁
I’m actually too sober to understand this video
Joe!!! One of my musical heroes. As FUBAR as he is, he still oozes musicality. If you dont get it, it is YOU, not Joe.
