This is the video that ‘between the beats’ really needed. A DJ who is isn’t up their own arse, has a great curiosity for music and a really refreshing approach. He also isn’t Seth Troxler. Which helps.
Such a great dude in person, we thanked him for a great set just this past weekend and he stopped, introduced himself asked our names and had a chat for a couple mins, super thankful that we enjoyed his set and gave us a hug as we said our farewells. We need more people in the world like Harry!
As others have said, really refreshing to see the vulnerability. Respect to RA for shooting, editing and most importantly keeping those bits in. Midland, you come across very well.
This was phenomenal. You can see how much he cares about not only the music but the opinions of critics and punters alike. Some people have got this "who gives a fuck" attitude when they play and largely play for themselves but not this guy. Big up.
Midland is my absolute hero. I had the pleasure of spending some time with him and he is one of the greatest blokes I've ever met. Sooo talented. Soooo humble. Such an inspiration to LGBT Djs wanting to break through.
Been an admirier of Midland for a few years I always expect the unexpected with him and for me that makes a dj to always keep you guessing. Well done RA
So much admiration for Midland. I've had the chance to meet him and he truly is this genuine (same with Ben UFO). Fabric was my introduction to world-class nightclubs too, so that closing scene on the dance floor before the gig gave me chills. Well done video start to end.
I have so much respect for this series. Thank you so much for sharing the light on Mental Health with artists, But also just showcasing what goes on behind the scenes with these peoples lives. It’s awesome.
That moment you hear Midlands' American husband quoting his mother (with regard to coming back home to the US or not) reassuring her son with the words along the lines of; "no dear it will be fine just stay there (London) for a while longer, you'll meet your Prince Harry eventually". Just that sentence alone made me instantly love both the husband and his wonderful mum. Already loved Midland before watching this video, though I didn't know he is a gay man. I'd like to say that does not affect the image I have of him, but I'm afraid it does. Because I might appreciate him even more for that. Though I'm not sure why. But man what a delightful bunch of people in this video; straight up positive vibes. One might even say it's fab.
Awesome! I love that we are the kind of people that respect each other and that we are able to feel and understand this Universal Language called MUSIC. 🎶 😍
I fucking love Midland. And I fucking love this documentary. Edit - just watched it a second time to see if I was too emotional the first time around, but I teared up again when I heard the opening bars of Before We Leave. Ahhh I gotta go back to Fabric!
Midland is great Dj! But I agree with the topic they discussed. If I went to see Gerd Janson and he only played Techno I would have been disappointed as you expect him to play a melodic set as he always does. Same as if I went to see Prosumer or Laurent Garnier, I would expect some disco and house. Once saw Garnier play Pacha Ibiza and he only played Techno then some months later saw him at Panoramabar and he played super melodic. He even played Donna Summer and Barbra Streisand!
This was excellent! He seems like an awesome dude. I didn’t know he was gay, or so close to Ben UFO, that makes me love him even more. Saw him with one of the Bicep boys at almost 6 mins in.. would love a future episode featuring them! ✌🏼
It’s interesting to hear newer DJs talk about genres and what they’re going to mix that night, or what they’re asked to mix by the crowd. Go back 15/20 years, DJs had very defined sounds. On hearing a set you could be pretty confident of identifying who played - Sasha, Paul Oakenfold, PvD, Digweed etc but there’s so much more crossover now and I’d find it so much harder to hear a modern set and confidently know which DJ recorded it.
Paul Mahony I thought that was half of the Bicep boys, wasn’t certain though. Would love one of these documentaries focused on them! This was excellent, though!

Nick Sanderson that seth Troxler one was the most cringe thing to watch...really changed my opinion of him
JSKRILL94 same here. Such a contrast with Midland. Haven’t stopped listening to him all day after this video.
Seth troxler is a narcissistic, egotistical imbecile.
a complete tool
Rick Smith it is horrendous. A complete tool
absolute diamond of a dj/producer and as a person too apparently
his music is great though
So much more down to earth than other Between the Beats videos.
Such a great dude in person, we thanked him for a great set just this past weekend and he stopped, introduced himself asked our names and had a chat for a couple mins, super thankful that we enjoyed his set and gave us a hug as we said our farewells.

Midland comes across as a humble and genuinely cool person, makes me love his music even more 😊

As a gay man, this was so inspiring to see :) Thanks for sharing your story with us Midland and for providing the platform, RA!
incredible storytelling!! Great to see a man so humble in an industry of egos.
This makes me want to DJ even more, one of the best RA films
Best 'between the beats' episode by far. Down to earth guy who's also a seasoned crate digger. Win win!
