This documentary changed the path of my life for the better 9 years ago. Jack was an inspiration, his infectious enthusiasm for records and club culture has paved the way for many new artists and broke the mould of “the DJ”. RIP 🏴
The intro hits a lot differently after reading about the news of his death. Among others, you put Glasgow on the map. Thanks for the music + founding 'Numbers' with your homies. Always have been one of my top fav' labels, the Sophie dub is still a knee slapper. Rest easy Jack.
Used to play this doc all the time back in the day and it left a huge impression on me when finding my way into dance music. The guy had so much going for him, he had so much personality and was an insanely passionate music curator. Inspired me tons, thank you Jack rest easy!
23:23 I'm coming back to this documentary and moment after Jack's passing away, some 10 years after first watching it. He was always one of those DJs I wanted to catch in person, I thought I'd catch him play in Ibiza or Glasgow at some point. He left too soon. Rest in peace.
I’ve been following Jack for the past 10 years. Talented and intelligent lad. Would love to meet for a chat, humble, down to earth and honest. Great TH-cam video this 10/10
A significant loss. To dance music, to the people who knew him, friends and family, and to the people watched him play behind the decks. A wizard of his craft, the first DJ I really knew about being 18 and fresh on the scene. A Glaswegian personality that cannot be replaced. Rest in peace
Never heard of this guy till I went to see Disclosure last year at the Hydro.I dont claim to know much about DJ Culture but this guy had the place jumping and what he was doing behind his decks was fucking incredible.Great and humble video.Mon the Jack!!!!
Really Really Good, Resident Advisor hats off to you! P.s that guy Stuart near the end when he said i never said you could be a model had me in stitches.
It's so sad. When you reach middle age, you realise how young your 30s were. This kid had a lot of life ahead of him; bless him. He leaves a musical legacy behind for his family to be proud of. RIP.
probably my favourite dj...so good at mixing and he fucking loves what he does, same with Eats Everything & Skream, top dogs. They're quite inspirational to young dj's even tho they're so humble and just joke around
@@jamesflowers874 probably not millions but definitely thousands. Otis Redding died at 26, and in those days it was rare for those artists to come to scotland.
I remember jumping up that roof years ago and getting onto the roof higher up and somebody must have robbed a wallet and threw it down through the glass window on top of the roof into the building and there were credit cards laying around. I think it was above the Fopp record shop on Byres road next to the Hillhead library. I went to school with him and used hang about with him a wee bit before and after I left Hillhead high school. Last time I saw him was about 2003-2004. Heard he died yesterday and was gutted. RIP Jack!
DJM500 is "a shite mixer!?" that's a legendary piece of kit! Might be a bit simplistic but solid and user-friendly! I still have a 600 coz we're not all rich, super-star DJs! :P
Can´t believe I´ve escasped watching this for two years. I read he was worried about how he´d come across. Heart really went for him when he was telling us about his mum man. The gadgie at the end outside Sub club - belter! Tryin to imagine non-scots trying to get a word of that! Hahahaha!
+Jon Lear aw shit I just reported that comment instead of reply argh! Apologies. Up until he says "you're just sittin there like that, who do ye think ye are' fuck knows!
"That was the best night I've ever had, certainly in there, maybe in my life, and I've still got it on MiniDisc." Seemingly innocuous comment if you're from the Soundcloud and TH-cam generation, but it was rare to hear a recording of a set you heard out back then. Jack's not saying "I've still got it on MiniDisc." He's saying "I'VE STILL GOT IT ON FUCKING MINIDISC!"
This was an absolutely amazing watch, loved every second of it ❤Model 500 - The Chase 🔥🔥🔥Such a lovely genuine character and huge inspiration for myself and so many others, RIP 🪽
I came from a middle class background, but circumstances turned it into a working class background. I have no issues with that. I am proud of my roots.
Mate he lived in a gaff in one of the wealthiest areas of Glasgow it was far from a scheme but at the same time it wasn't as sheltered as some people might imagine. We went to school with people from the most deprived areas of Glasgow which are just a short walk away from the West End / Hillhead area. After his mum died things would have been rough financially no doubt. Heard the big man died yesterday that's what's brought me to this comment today. RIP Jack.
Rest in peace Jack, this video was one of the reasons I started, thanks for the music ❤️

Really great film. An enjoyable watch with some cool insights into one of the best UK DJ's.

Bloody great RA! Jackmaster has always been so well respected in the game and this film goes some way to highlighting why.
These ORIGINS films are beautiful and insightful, thank you for endeavoring to show another human perspective of dance music.

Try watching this with auto-generated English subtitles......
Someone tried to tell me jackmaster wasn't from Glasgow last night, they don't know whats up.

So easy if you’re young like myself to forget how limited accessibility to music was back then, we’re spoilt in this day and age
whats the song at the end?
super sound bloke
Rest easy 💙

His childhood doesn't sound middle class to me. He's working class, but I wouldn't wanna break the news to him. Great documentary as always though.
