BMW is the ultimate drivers car. It got the overall packaging in most categories. And for this X1, it's not even fully loaded, but still manages to smokes the other two in its class. It's a bimmer after all. :D
Watching in 2022 from the UK as looking to downsize from my X6 M50D - our specs in the UK are different but only slightly. Great presentation guys, and simple but honest opinions... thank you!
The Mercedes GLA is imo the best of the three. So i bought the GLA200.

It doesn't bother me to push the BMW boot tailgate down manually, I've been doing it for years 😁 great review, very unique the way you flow off each other covering the same features of each car one after the other.

In Canada, the x1 does come with a power tailgate and standard AWD.

To me X1 has the best look, design and interior. It is okay with me to push the X1 boot tailgate down manually as I have been doing the same for my other cars for years. Great review and sharing for all the three similar category vehicles. Keep that up.
Need the XDrive for X1. The ideal might be the X28 XDrive. Hope they bring this model to Malaysia and Singapore.
Excellent comparison, just what i was looking for. I'll take the X1 among these 3. for the gla, i'd rather take the c class. for the q3, i dont know what to say, it dont look new

In Canada we only have AWD on the X1. Not sure about the US.
X1 have sliding and reclining rear seat. Plus you don't have to bend over to fold the rear sit down for extra lugage space. You just press a button.
Hey Paultan, exactly the few cars I was looking at.. Your video helped me decided that the bimmer wins! But, I'd be going for the s18i. Can't really find anything on the new engine.. What's your take on the 3 cylinder engine? Will it be underpowered?
And also the gearbox . It's a 6 speed instead

Its all wheel drive standard in USA. new x1 is based on mini countryman. So its front wheel drive based.

The new x1 is hard to appeal the old x1 owner to be honest. a set back in gearbox. a very understeering suspension and least safety features of the three. Down in the market, the old x1 is the only rear wheel bias cross over you can find. other than that it would be Porsche Macan.

While all of these 3 cars does offer All Wheel Drive as an option, u makes it looks like they were limited to the one that you're reviewing.....You guys even makes it look like that it was a weak point for x1, to not having all wheel drive...OMG what a crap....

To say that Audi's interior is much better than the other two is very unfair, I've sat in both, Audi's interior is old looking and boring.
C'mon Paultan, you needs standard testing formats for your videos, some times you do drag races. Sometimes, you do space check and sometimes, just comedy.
+James May Hey James, Did you see the new interior styling of the mercedes models? This GLA still has the "older" interior look. The new GLC, E class (coming in 2016) and C class have the newer Mercedes styling. The interior is amazing and has very much quality.

Gla doesn't look like crossover. I drove it and it feels like hatchback. Bmw is Bmw best choice if you need crossover feel with spacious interior. Gla is too compact.

that's part of the attraction of it. Out of the the three, i would definitely get the Merc personally but the king is the 45 AMG but it's way way too expensive
One thing to note is the Merc has a major blind spot on the driver's side

I find this review somewhat bias🤣🤣🤣🤣 seriously... do these guys actually own and drive these cars on a daily basis? I have driven all 3 brands... for sure, in terms of driving experience BMW, will be on top... the MB I don’t even entertain anymore... the models, unless it’s a E or S class is not what they used to be... as for Audi... we’ll, I find the Audi the best one of the 3. Maintenance, reliability ease of driving and the Quattro will get you out of ANY reasonable situation... and I don’t know what these quacks mean when they say “fun” to drive... obviously, if you want a heavy feel driving experience, BMW is the way to go... it is after all, the ultimate driving machine😊. The bmw is a bit more expensive than the Audi and since I look at the whole picture when selecting a car the added cost of the Beemer does not justify the little advantage the BM has over the Audi. And as far as using the nav and electronics, one of the commentators said it’s complicated to use the Audi system, (which again, leads me to believe these people don’t own or drive these cars on a daily basis) like I said, driven all 3 brands and the bum and mb systems don’t even come close to use of ease compared to the Audi.
Yes, the Audi looks a little dated (it’s a 5yr old design after all) but, I don’t drive a car for the brand, the look or the hype. I drive an Audi because it’s great or “fun” to drive, reliable, cost a lot less to maintain, Looks a lot classier that the previous two brands (we are talking about the q3, x1 and gla) and the Quattro system is the best of the best. If you don’t go up the mountains with snow up to the ying yang, then you are not going to understand what I mean about the Quattro. This weekend, I’m going to the dealership to replace my 2 1/2 yr old Q3. And I’m getting another Q3, quattro, of course😊
Oh the one thing they got right was the trunk space... the Q3 has “limited” cargo space. Not as big as the bmw for sure and some creative packing is needed to fit everything in😊
Comfort, did I hear someone say the bmw is comfortable?🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣. Get an Audi if you want comfort.....
Harve has owned a few BMWs recently, and Hafriz drives a Mercedes as a daily car. For this review, we all drove the three cars extensively before doing the video.
Regarding all BMWs having a heavy, excellent driving experience, that was true 5-10 years ago. Recently however, the brand has progressed to having far more compliant suspension. The sedans still have excellent handling and body control, together with great comfort, but the X1 in this case is very comfortable to fit young families, but not brilliant to drive as BMWs traditionally are known for. And it really is more comfortable than the Q3 in this case.
The media interface, we stand true to what we said. Audi's 4-corner MMI is not as user friendly as BMW iDrive and Mercedes COMAND. Audi admits this too, and has introduced a 2-corner MMI in its latest models, which is a treat to use.
I love my X1 Audi sucks
