Living in a house full time and living in an RV full time are totally different lifestyles and splitting your time between the two can be kind of tricky. We are continuing to learn how to do it with each trip we take. Join us as we wrap our time on this RV trip and head home.

I don’t comment often, but love following your family. Megan, I feel compelled to comment today. I loved every aspect of your talk with us. I really feel a deep appreciation for the”why” traveling means so much to you personally. You’re really a great lady and special person! Your husband and kids are truly blessed to have you and your sense of independence and commitment.

We are the backpacking family (Pete, Emma and baby Bodhi) and this Pete writing... and I feel so deeply inspired by Emma for exactly these qualities - independence and commitment. You seem happier now that you have the RV and the choice of getting away for a few days. My parents had an old school house in upstate NY for yrs. It started out being a get-a-way from the hustle of life on Staten Isl. NY. We had some great times hunting for furniture etc. for the school house. Later after my brother and I grew up and had spouse's and families we would go for holidays but my parents would go up in the spring and stay til fall. It was where we were all happiest with no phones and tv at first. It was where mom was when she passed. Everyone in town knew about it and did everything they could to help my dad and I. A yr after we sold it since I'm over 600 miles away and dad was suffering with alzheimer's, my brother passed 13 days after mom and the grandkids were also too far away to even consider keeping it as a meeting place for holidays. I wish I could have kept it and moved into it. I have so many wonderful memories from 40 yrs there.

I watch for the inspiration I receive in regards to doing what you want when you want.
I am catching up on your videos. I can tell you that it is easier for the RV to have all it's own appliances and utensils. We have been in our house 30 yrs. Our kids grew up here filled our attic with THINGS, married and moved on to the own families, one lives out of state. In 2012 we purchased a Class A. I bought everything new for it. We took a few trips in it, went to Oregon & back. We have been to Disney World and yearly family reunions where many family members bring their RVs and stay on the family lake property for a week or weekend. All we have to do is throw in some clothes and food and off we go.
In 2014 & 2016 our last 2 grandchildren were born and my hubby retired from the Army. We are keeping them every day while our son and his wife work. It saves them money on daycare and they keep us busy but we can't travel like we planned. We did take them to a family reunion last summer, the first time they go to ride in the RV and sleep in it. We had a blast that weekend. The boy learned to cast a fishing rod, meet cousins he doesn't get to see often and hunted sticks to clean up the property from storm damage and burn a huge tree that was struck by lightning.
Last spring, we purchased a beach home in Myrtle Beach. I did the same with that house. It has all it's own appliances & dishes. We have even stocked the closet & dresser with clothes that we leave there, toiletries in the bathroom and even clothes for the grandkids. They each have 4 outfits a pair of pj's with shorts and long pants, 2 swimsuits & flip-flops that stay there. Now when you decide to go, we just jump in the car and take off. So much easier than planning what to pack.
I love your videos and your family. Have watched since shortly after you purchased the first RV. I had to go back and watch the few videos of renovating and packing up the 5th wheel to leave on your full timing jaunt. I hope one day that hubby & I will be able to get back out west and finish the sightseeing we had planned in 2012. Lily is 3 and once she is in kindergarten and can stay in the Afterschool Program we can go. He big brother started kindergarten this year and has tried out the Afterschool Program and seems to like it. Hopefully Lily will love it too!
I followed your National Park adventures, my Bucket List is to visit them all before I'm too OLD! LOL Our oldest son lives in Oregon, hince our trip out there. I want to do the Oregon coast, seems a lot to do over there. Hoping our son can travel along and do hotels or cabins and the 2 kids can stay with us a few days if Mom & Dad can't. It's an awesome way to see the country & spend time with grandkids we only get to see 10 days out of the year.
I do get busy with life and get behind now & then. But I try really hard to get caught up again. Happy Travels and hope to see you on the road one day! HUGS~Donna

Wonderful to hear family update. It is great to hear your family's enjoyment of the time away in the RV. I agree with you on the home base. We have a summer cottage and cherish the family times there, but by September/October we are ready to be home. Our rule at the cottage is if there is floor space to sleep, you are welcome. There is truly something special sitting around the fire , singing, sharing making smores with family and friends. I am totally with you on the travelling too. It enriches your life and adds to the memories. Love learning about other cultures. Next destination is Spain.

For the beds in the RV i would recommend beddys bedding it is very cool and could be good for you guys!

So true isn't it?! We love seeing how much travel can help people bond and connect as a family. We have been travelling with our baby boy and now we are super excited to have another on the way and LOTS of exciting travel plans.
Basically I think it's just a place to sleep. We had a whole set of stuff just for the camper. Even a 3-4 day set of clothes for each person. That way we only had to add food and we were on our way. So easy that way. :-)

Our travel trailer (8sqm but only 2 kids!) is packed with everything except food and clothes and at home - brilliant just to get up and go :) Loved Megan's comment that was so revealing of her inner nature "Mike is a systems man ...but he's still nice!" bet if Mike was asked he'd say Megan is creative ..... but she's still nice ;-) Complementary skills whilst recognising your own weaknesses = stronger bond :)

I am loving the camping trips we are taking and all the info..You have nearly inspired me to try this, I am a tough nut to crack, more a traveller of the mind..still I am seriously feeling the urge. Not famous for being what is termed a happy camper..I am slowly becoming very hungry for green trees, water and a fireside outdoors. Lookin' good in those overalls Miss Meagan.
haha so true! Love how watching these epic videos just inspires and draws people to the wild. Go for it! Adventure is waiting for you. We love going for adventures as a family and have some epic trips planned... I can honestly say I don't think we regret any adventure we have been on (and me and my wife were shipwrecked a couple of years ago, so that's saying a lot!)
I was lucky enough to go on a trip just me and my parents when I was 16 and it was really special. A wonderful idea for you and your kids
I got so excited when you said you were going to VA next week. I don't know if you will be going to Williamsburg, but we just got back from our trip recently and I STILL can't stop thinking about the meals we had at Food For Thought...and the snowball shaved ice at Sno-To-Go (just down the street from each other). Is it sad that my lasting memories of VA are of food?

I love how you live your life! No doubts, no fear. After spending a month in the hospital after having my neck fused to my back all I can think about is travelling. I want to be free of all the clutter in our life. Once I figure out how to fund a fulltime RV lifestyle I'll be in heaven but for now we are taking a small trip for 5 nights to a great park three hours away and I can't wait. And thank-you for providing a reprieve with your videos during my hospitalizaion!
Keep your dreams alive, and keep on with the travel no matter how or where. We are limited for our travel, as hubby had a heart stent put n about 8 years ago, and travel insurance, especially out of the country, can get crazy expensive. So, we do our 3 - 5 day camping trips across into the US, and then spend time here camping in our provincial parks. It makes us happy, and that's what counts. Plus having the 2 g'children in town, we don't like too go far and for too long. Thanks for sharing.. I really enjoy your video's. God Bless. 💖
The Thrifty G'ma hope your husband is doing well. Had heart surgery myself last year due to a birth defect at 42 years old. Luckily for me and my wife I can still live a normal life. At least until the next one.

Thank you for sharing your adventures with us! I started watching while you were traveling in the RV full-time, and watched with envy as you traveled to Europe. So, when the opportunity came, my husband and I and our three kids (9,6,&2), moved to England- just north of London. It's our home base while we travel throughout the UK and Europe. We homeschool as well, so we can travel whenever we want to. So far, we've gone to Portugal, France, and all over England. Next week, we're headed to Sweden and Finland (where my husband and I served our missions), Italy in September, and Germany in December. We are having the time of our lives. Thank you for inspiring us and so many others!

You will figure this out...What we did for our small family of 4 & 2 chihuahuas.. WE traveled with my husband's job. It was only 3 hours away wasn't very far from home. WHAT we did is we had a set of clothes for the RV. EVERYTHING we needed stayed in the RV & the other stuff stayed at home.. We washed the clothes returned them & bought food. GOD BLESS

I started watching because I have been thinking about RVing full time. I stayed because I feel like I'm along for the adventure. I'm an empty nester and now single so, my travels will be solo. I'm terrified!!!!!! I just purchased an older small motorhome and want to take time this summer to fix it up and have some short adventures to boost my confidence. I don't know if I can do this. Have you thought of bringing a tent and the older boys can sleep in a tent? We use to go in a RV with another family and us kids all slept in tents and the parents were in the RV.

You actually need a place in the country. A subdivision was HOAs and rules. It should be, your property, your rules.

Haha, tent trip?! that sounds epic! We love camping as a family and also staying in crazy accommodation (spontaneous home stays in Tajikistan, capsules in Kazakhstan...)

I would love to know what you guys did for your church meetings when you were full time? We were wondering where we should have our records kept and how you developed a relationship with a bishop for your recommend renewals..this is one of our dilemmas in making a decision to go full time. My big dream is to see the world. I hope someday something can land in my lap that will help me achieve that. For you guys it was doTerra and whatever else you do but Im not good at selling things. So there is that. Always had an intuition that me or my family or someone I know will win the lottery and share. Only problem is when. I have yet to get the when feeling.
