    My 90 year old grandmother has a egfr of 50. I was so concerned about her kidney function before. But she told me she felt ok and didn’t have any symptoms associated with CKD. After watching this video, I think she is right and old people tend to have a lower egfr but they are very likely having healthy kidney functions. Thank you so much for sharing the information.

      Thanks for sharing Tina - and you are exactly right. Your 90 year old grandmother may have normal kidney function for her age. Do me a favor - for you - visit her and have her tell you about her life and record those conversations. Trust me, you'll cherish those and so will future generations. :-)

    James seems like a very intelligent man. I personally don't understand why he laughs at things that are not really that funny. Maybe he is intoxicated over his healing from a deadly disease. I want what he has. Keep up the good work James Fabin. God bless you, your family and Dr Rosansky. You are saving lives and improving the quality of people's lives.

    Jo in Dublin ( Ireland)... Been finding your talks wonderful and helpful. I'm into alternatives for most things. Had a wonderful Doc. Who retired and had to get new one. Who when I was diagnosed with CKD. After a few UTI infections. My new doc not interested in me taking urine samples. And never said how bad CKD was it that my fisheries might have been causing it. Found this talk really good. I'm staying very stable round 11-13. I want to stay off dyalisis. I'm 70. So great to hear age needs to be taken into account. Thanks James.

    Great talk. I ordered the book. My creatinine is 1.8, had kidney cancer surgery last December. Dr saved half the kidney. Lately my blood pressure is around 148/76. I take Alodipine. Dr took me off Lisinopril because my potassium had been at 5.7. But when I take Lisinopril blood pressure is like 120/75. Seems like a catch 22.

    My doctor only tells me that my kidneys are stable is that good? Or should I be getting more information about them?

    • @DADVICETV
      @DADVICETV  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I would ask for a copy of your labs so that you know just how your kidneys are doing. Even with a low GFR, if you are stable and holding, that is fantastic. I personally like to focus on my overall health, how I feel, and managing/eliminating symptoms. My last GFR was in the low 30's - and I am thrilled with it because my health keeps improving and I feel amazingly great! What is stage 3 kidney disease I have no clue and I have small kidneys!

    • @DADVICETV
      @DADVICETV  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Stage 3 is defined as having a GFR between 30 and 59. It’s actually a very large range. Being stage 3 and young could make it more important to make diet and lifestyle changes now, whereas being stage 3 and elderly may not mean that much. It is important to look at your overall health and the trend of your GFR. Dr. Ro does a great job of walking through that with examples in his book.

    Hi James. May I ask; is your gfr still improving? How long did it take more or less for you to get from stage 5 to stage 3?

    • @DADVICETV
      @DADVICETV  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I feel amazing, but am very concerned about COVID, so I haven't had labs in a long time. All of my doctor visits are virtual since March. I have a Wifi Body Composition Scale, Wifi Blood Pressure Monitor, an oxygen meter (I manually log it's readings), and a Wifi thermometer which allows my doctor to see my vitals when ever he wants. I'm sure my GFR is either holding steady or improving - but more importantly (since I am not a fan of GFR), I feel great. This weekend I'll be ordering a treadmill so I can job inside through the winter (and lose some of that extra Covid weight I've put on). You can see charts of my improvements at www.dadvicetv.com/my-kidney-labs - what they don't show is how I felt. It took me around 4 months to complete get rid of anemia.

      @@DADVICETV Thanks James. I am asking for someone very close to me. She has had exactly the same experience as you. It has been almost a year since she was checked into hospital and her GFR improvement pattern has followed the same trajectory as yours.
