    I'm a type 1 diabetic since 1966. In 1985 I was told I'd be on dialysis in 3 years. Thankfully that doc left. My new doc put me on lisipril and Lasix. I exercised doing home repairs and yard work ate ok but not super healthy. Blood pressure ran 110/70. Life was good until my now ex wife Luci short for Lucifer put me thru hell. Between alimony, child support and atty fees. I ate bologna sandwiches 3x a day. My BP went to 180/120 and eGFR to 20 then 5 then dialysis. The kids are grown a son lives with me and another moved out of state with his fincee the other 2 don't talk with me unless a family member dies since my mom have passed i will likely never see them again. The son who move offer a kidney but if my grand kids need one I told hin to keep it. The son who lives with really helps me with the PD treatments. All told the sacrifices I made to stay involved with my 2 sons were worth it.

      Maybe you should have your Doc check your Cystatin C level. That is most accurate test for GFR especially with readings over 60. And if it coinsides with your creatinine estimate, then is is highly likely you are in such and such a stage.

    I’m 44 at stage 4 CKD no high blood pressure, no diabetes, not overweight and the doctors can’t find the cause. I’ve been tested for autoimmune disease (negative), had a lasik Reno gram only showed my left kidney was worse than my right. I have had muscle invasive bladder cancer with a neo bladder created in 2019. But my kidneys were perfect through all of that and chemo. Creatinine has been rising for the last year currently at 2.54 with a GFR of 22. Not on any harmful meds Any ideas what could be causing mine?

      It depends and only your health team (with access to your health records and lab results) can answer that. Do you know what caused your decline in kidney function and have you been able to manage that to slow down further decline? Are you working with a renal dietitian to help make certain you are eating correctly? Have you looked at any bad habits you may have that can harm your kidney function (smoking, not being active, using NSAIDS, etc). A lot goes into your kidney health and overall health. The best advice I can offer is to work closely with your health care team and make any changes they recommend.

    Another myth:
    It is ok to eat high saturated fat, high cholesterol food like eggs, cheese, chicken, fish, bacons as long as you take a bunch of medications to lower the ever rising blood pressure, cholesterol and weight gain.

    • @DADVICETV
      @DADVICETV  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      The only issue may be with home much sugar it contains - and you get to control that. Eating/Drinking healthy comes down to portion control and giving your body the nutrients it needs. I'm not diabetic, but I keep an eye on my sugar intake. I enjoy using honey to make sauces for my stir fry.
