I hope those bottles get dusty and the market tanks, stores that charge prices like that deserve to lose their ass on that inventory. Dude asking 200 for the 1924 did not sell a coy hill for 99…
The funny thing is about this, they are mostly related or know eachother and refuse to lower prices. It’s a shame but can’t say they won’t cut you a deal in some cases. They simply will wait on a bottle for years until someone will buy it.
I followed in your footsteps today from the Low Country. Shamrock (owner is super nice; I heard him tell an employee I saw them on TH-cam), Dublin Beverage Warehouse (Asha is a delight, several bottles here including your MM), Pooler Package. Thanks for your generosity. Some of your previous haunts are mine as well now. I tell the proprietors that I learned about them on Bourbon Hunter, and I can see this pleases them!
That Velvet Black you were looking at is Drake’s whiskey. Never tried it and not sure how hard it is to find. But I hope to try it someday. Maybe if I can find it at a place that sells pours. More curious than anything. Good video though! You came across some unicorns for sure. It’s nice to go in places and even if it’s out of your budget it’s still nice to see the stuff and know you have the option. Cool stores and video. Keep up the amazing hunting videos.
The reason prices are stupid is because distributors force stores to buy 25 case deals on bilge piss that takes them 10 years to unload on the public just to get one case of allocated..
I know why he has "7, 8, 9, 10....All of them." Some of these prices are so bad, that all you can really do is laugh. And then laugh again & tell them, "Yeah, no, I'm good."
Awesome, another Bourbon Hunter upload! *first thing I see is a South Carolina logo* 🙁 Hell of a game yesterday. We’ll get the Mayor’s Cup back next year!
Hey Hunter That crown hand select barrel is pretty good we have them around here in Louisiana for like $40 to $50 .... Its crazy the way they want crazy money for the $50 $60 wellers ...... Thanks
I usually have good luck in south GA, but this last trip everything was over secondary. I even stopped at a few places 10+ miles off the interstate, and I questioned the guy if anyone ever paid those prices. He said never lol.
Almost all of the small town liquor stores in Georgia are the same. Decent selection, however anything allocated is priced at secondary or higher, and usually the shelf staples also have decent sized markups.
really need to be careful in georgia, a lot of the liquor "estate" has been bought out and under new managements. Tower Beer Wine and Spirits sells at MSRP on everything. Eagle rare 44.99, blantons 85$, old forrester 10 year 1924 115$, etc. Never done me wrong.
I saw the Widow Jane Black Opal here in NC last Thursday for MSRP. I'm going back past that store Friday after Thanksgiving, if they still have it you interested?
I live in Florida but go to South Georgia once a month or so and I’ve found a small local honey hole that has bottles I can’t find in Florida. Reasonable prices. I’m not just allocating hunting though. Last time walked in and picked up Blue Note Honey Rye Cask and Pursuit United Double Oak at MSRP
You were right about Virginia Black whiskey on your stop in Dublin. That's a collaboration between Drake and someone else. Haven't tried it or anything but I've heard about it.
EHT and Blantons only having a $10 difference is a little odd, at least in my neck of the woods. $50 for regular Buffalo is also no bueno, but I actually like the 2 for $100 deal on that ER10! It goes for $65 pretty consistently here.
Roulette Rye is definitely worth picking up. It's Proof and Wood and a companion to their Tumblin' Dice brand. They do great MGP picks. They are also the people behind the Representative, the Senator, the Ambassador, the Presidential dram etc...
Swing into Ohio bro. Stores got cases of WSR stacked on the floor.limit 1 per location. But it is everywhere. $30 w/tax. I could get 3 750's within 4 stores in a 8 mile radius.
Soo fun fact I talk to a couple of the smaller liquor store owners in my area. The prices are that high because there buying these bottles from venders. They don’t actually get any allocated whiskey drops. Thus to even make money on it they have to sky rocket the prices on them. One guy told me he Dosent expect anyone to even buy it. But just having it in his store makes it look a little more official.
Seeing the prices for Buffalo Trace (750ml), I am happy to have found a place where I can order Buffalo Trace online and have it delivered to my door for about $35.50 per bottle.
The roulette rye is good for mixing and that's about it to me. Great price point for a 4 year 100 proof rye. Careful with caps they strip REALLY REALLY easily...The HH G2G retail pricing is like $80, and many many reviews say the Rye is the best, but not worth the $80-$90 cost. $250 is robbery.
A lot of these small towns with a low to medium median income move a lot of the lower end product, thus they get a lot of the allocated bottles. These stores can afford to sit on them for a while. Which is why they jacked up prices on everything. Small town means they really don't care, their leases are probably low so they wait on the taters to come through that never see those bottles. 70 bones for HH BiB is outrageous, 200 bones for a SBBS OF is crazy too. If he sold the JD Coy Hill for basically MSRP it was to a buddy who probably put in on an auction site and agreed to split the profit. Those stores are strictly to look for shelfers that you may not see in your area for close to MSRP. Even the ER at that one store was pretty high for what you can find it closer to ATL.
@@Bourbon_Hunter Yeah I am northeast of ATL, you should definitely plan a trip and visit Turtle Creek, Rock Hard Spirits, Cork & Keg, Beverage Superstore of Grayson, Grapes and Grains. You can also hit Tower Beverage closer to the city. I am sure Whiskey Wisdom would have some other suggestions as well.
Picked up a 2024 Cellar Aged at the Duty Free in San Francisco Airport for $155. They also had Weller 12, Blantons, Eagle Rare, among other bottles. Book an international flight and check it out 😅
i got a 2022 coyhill at a lottery last month, very low in proof at 122.4 but the "msrp" was 90$. Still very happy I got it, wouldnt pay anything over 300 for one though. Also I dont know whats with all the difference in pricing ive been seeing on the jack daniel single barrel rye barrel proof. At Tower Beer Wine and Spirits in Atlanta Georgia you can get them for 65$ a bottle 130+ proof by the case. Literally had and still have 100's of them.
If you’re looking for a Widow Jane Black Opal, I know a store that has it for $450! That same store has the Heaven Hill Grain to Glass bottles for $95!
As a WJ fan what do you think of the baby Jane? I got talked into buying one and think it’s more like baby lame 😋 . It’s just so plain Jane nothing interesting or tasty it about it at all.
I don’t even comment on videos. But I manage a liquor store and have been in the industry for almost a decade, and some of these prices are literal robbery. I would never pay $50 for a trace or a special reserve Weller.
You should of got the 2 eagle rares for 100 bc a guy in Tennessee is selling it for 100 plus tax which is too much for my blood tbh but i still wanna try eagle rare
I just picked up a Stagg 24B for $59.99. I have gotten 3 this year at that price, There has been loads of Stagg flooding the market. Anything above $150 is unacceptable. It would have to be an exceptional batch for me to pay that. Secondary is much lower than a year ago.
@johng5710 AZ got tons of Stagg this year. I've picked them up at bourbon events and in some great bottle bundles, mostly pared with JD SBBP store picks. I even found 1 on the shelf in a small town at $60.
Those small town stores have 3 times the selection that liquor stores in Lansing or Flint Michigan have 🫣🤔 , I hunt in Those cities all the time and can't find 💩😖 Cheers 🥃💯👍
Saturday Mickey Finn's in Florence had out Weller sr, Weller Full proof, a JD Coyhill, Blantons sib and gold, EH taylor sb, and a few other things all at Secondary or a little over had to pass on all
Your title says it all, and its right why bother going into these stores when all they have in mind is ripping you off....There is no shortage of any booze just a terminal case of greed to sell them by the Patel Cartel, appears to own most all liquor stores in georgia and dont mind showing their high price, price tags! its enough to make a person give up drinking...sincerely up theirs I aint buying into this shit

Patel Cartel at it again regardless of the state or town. He has a bunch of ETL and Wellers yet still jacked up prices.

Being from GA by large the prices are too high. Came to grips you’ll pay some mark up but most places are pretty rough
I agree! Some places are a little rough on the prices, but I'm always searching for that one great deal
Looking at his prices for allocations, im sure he lied when he said he sold coy hill for 99$... I'm calling BS

The distillers cache bottle from Chelsea, MI is ok. It’s distilled somewhere in ky and aged there. their BIB is good and sits at around $100
Thanks for the museum tour in the first half of the video. Awesome selection, but those prices are insanely high.

9 stores in Oregon carry the Crown hand selected, only $56 here, might have to give it a try.
West Point Beverage in Dublin, GA has better pricing. Got a bottle of Eagle Rare for $10 less than the last bottle of Buffalo Trace I got at Shamrock.
