Got the 2024 Makers for $73, wouldn't have normally picked it up, but I was going to a bottle share and I knew people would love to try it. Mixed reviews, but most enjoyed it. Not every bottle will please the crowd, but glad I got it.

I never even saw a stagg jr at a store in Ca. But i just bought a Stagg jr and GTS at a restaurant that went out of business in my area. Cant believe i have both.

Great selection. I found the Knob Creek Bourye a few weeks ago. One of my new favorites. Bought a backup. Cracked open the MM Heart Release last night. Really enjoyed the neck pour. My local store has the Heaven Hill 7 Year BIB for $37. 🥃

Total Wines in Indy had little book 8 for 150 roughly a couple weeks ago. 2 per glass case. Very good if you like rye, but not a $200+ bottle.
I’ve had great luck finding bottles in rural Washington, Idaho and Oregon. Unfortunately the prices are the issues.

I loved the Old Scout Barrel Proof Single Barrel Rye, not a huge fan of rye but loved that one, and also loved port finishes, so when I saw the Port Finish Rye come out, I bought one for my birthday soon after. Definitely a good buy!
I have the Blood Oath2017 P3 with box. My wife bought it for me back in 2017. I still have half the bottle.
We agree on the Old Scout Port. My entire bourbon crew loves that bottle. 🙌🏼

That Pepper decanter tastes just like the Old Pepper Bib but with more proof. I’d like to see that decanter at $50 and the Bib $40-35. Great juice for sure but idk if it’s worth the price. Cheers🥃

I had a tour at the Pepper distillery and I think she said the decanter was aged 5 years, the 1776 only 3 years. I have a decanter but haven't tried it yet.

I live in a big city, and you see rare bottles a lot, but they're always full secondary. no rewards programs, no raffles, nothing. so I definitely think it's better in rural areas

So I am in clearwater florida for the week just landed like 5 hours ago and stopped at two liquor stores....I found penelope rio for 200, 1792 12 year for 150, full proof 60, single barrel 50, plus BiB and SM, they also had a buff trace store pick for 50. Since I am only going to be here a week I got 1792 full proof for 60 out the door!

That New Riff malted rye is a buy all day at $60. Such a pleasant surprise.
I agree! it's $62 in PA and really good. The closest thing I compared it to is the A Overholt Monongahela Rye. It's like it's hotter spicer cousin. A Overhold is my Rye of the year for SURE. At $40 is the best and most flavorful bottle for the price hands down. On the shelf in PA all year so on my 5th bottle.

Did you really like the Maker's Heart Release? I saw some not so good reviews of it online by some heavy hitters. Comments were it's another toasted stave finish like most of their others, wasn't earth shattering for the price, etc. Great video and finds up in Sumpter
I think its very good! Everybody at the bottle share enjoyed it as well. I need to revisit it and check but I liked it a lot
@Bourbon_Hunter I was going to grab a bottle until I saw those few reviews. Seems Maker's keeps at it with the same staves instead of trying something new or changing their approach. I'd want a sample first to see if I liked it or if it was similar to the other Maker's stave finished bottles
A channel just did a side-by-side comparison of Heart to BEP (fresh cracks of each) and, for both tasters, the BEP was the clear winner.
I live in Ohio, Crown Royal XR is 54$ here and can be found everywhere in Ohio
What is the difference between the heart release and the maker’s 46 cask strength. isn’t the heart full french oak and isn’t that what 46 is?

Can confirm, Thomas S Moore is worth NOT buying atleast before trying. I got the whole lineup when it first released since I thought it was going to be a limited release Barton finished. Unfortunately the Port finish tastes nothing like the Port 1792
Cuvee is great. It’s 150 in VA, that was actually a deal. I think only total wine has it slightly cheaper in some states.

I see those Belle Meade Reserve bottles all the time. I've see them in at least 3 stores in the past 2 weeks. I also see the Nelson Brothers bottles. I had 1 store manager tell me they are making both labels instead of discontinuing the Belle Meade.

@@Bourbon_Hunter I also came across a 13th colony in this little liquor store in Joplin Missouri. Oklahoma doesn’t have it , nor did any store in Springfield Missouri. Not sure how they got it and the rye, but I jumped on it. Really good.

Is that makers heart the best one in your opinion or like #2 behind the cellar age? Have only had regular makers and thought it was okay. Just too low proof for me
Makers Mark FAE-02 is my absolute favorite. Then either BRT-02 or FAE-01. Cellar Aged is Ranked #3 in my book. Its underwhelming for the hype. By no means is it bad! I just wish it wasnt so over hyped because I probably got my exceptions out of bounds

Makers mark BEP is wack

@@Bourbon_Hunter would have to be makers mark 101. That BEP was nothing but sharpie on the nose and the palate for me and others. I had multiple people try it and they all said the same thing. I just poured it down the drain.
Don't get too hyped about Makers Wood Finishing 2024. First - its just Makers 46 cask strength. Second - It's a MASSIVE release. Don't pay over $75 for this bottle or you will be sad when you see it rotting on shelf after a few shipments from the distributor.
The Bourbon boom has faded. It's not busted but there is a MASSIVE decline in spending in 2024 over 2023. Just walk into a Total Wine and you might notice the Bourbon Aisles shrinking. Across the 5 stores in my area all of them have sacrificed a bourbon shelf to add other spirits (mostly Tequila). The market is contracting a bit this year and I think that trend continues into 2025 and 2026.

I don't agree with it being 46 cask strength. 46 uses French oak staves where this one uses Virginia oak staves. That being said I'm a huge maker's Mark fan, but I don't like the 46 cask strength nor did I like this release.
