  • My Chinese 12 gauge semi-auto shotgun needed some tacticool touches, and the Black Aces Tactical rail seemed like the perfect option. It went on with a minimum amount of custom fitting!

    If you clear the weapon then take off the plastic housing around the gas system you can run toothpaste, and metal polisher thro the acton it will make it super smooth, and also look for imperfections in action where the bolt slides over the trigger arm

    Boo...can I call you Boo? I just picked up the SAS12. I was just stumbling around the "Interweb" looking for Mag fed Shotguns when I came across it. Right away, I started looking on TH-cam for unpacking, breakdown, maintenance & Modifications. After weeding thru them YOURs stuck out b/c Your Research, Enthusiasm & Ingenuity. Thanks for sharing the links to the adapters for the Tach Stock.

    Booligan, would think that you should check the gas ports of the Piston assembly, for that maybe the issue there. Also I'll probably see if I can make a few aftermarket parts for it when I get mine

    • @booliganshootingsports
      @booliganshootingsports  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      That's what I ended up doing. The gas ports on mine had burrs and weren't manufactured very cleanly at all. I drilled them out to the same bore size throughout and then cut the barrel to 19" and filed down the rough burrs in the bore from drilling out the ports.

    No updates? Let me guess its not working as good as you hoped? I got 1500 or so shot on mine from bird shot to hot slugs. I can't for the life of me see how so many people having trouble fixing the SAS12 when it is so easy. Good for me I suppose it keeps'um cheap.

    • @booliganshootingsports
      @booliganshootingsports  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Fractured Hearts it’s working great after I opened up the gas port a little bit. No updates because I’ve got LOTS of other projects in the works and this one is done.

    • @fracturedhearts3734
      @fracturedhearts3734 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Done? What range of ammo can you use? Can you run birdshot long with slugs in the same mag?

    • @booliganshootingsports
      @booliganshootingsports  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Fractured Hearts yes, it’ll run high brass bird, slugs, buck, etc. I was very conservative with my gas port enlargement so I wouldn’t overgas it with slugs/buck/etc.

    • @fracturedhearts3734
      @fracturedhearts3734 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      What are you calling high brass? I can run anything in the 1oz range @1235fps or better. 1 1/4 I need 1200fps. My home rolled tactical loads with 7/8oz slugs and 3 aught move at about 1300+ easy on the shoulder but still have plenty of power. Over gassing that would be hard to do. The gas piston/system has the volume of a small dirt bike. If you cut down the barrel 19 inch's you will have big troubles. I had to rebuild the gas system @ 20 1/2ins. but I can now run anything but the lightest of loads and still shoot shoulder breakers on the same gas piston On a side not I have a working prototype 10 round mag in the works.

    Hey Mate, I was looking around EBay and came across the "Warhammer" for the 500. I value your opinion. Will it also fit with a little modification. I think it is missing the smaller slot continuation for the bolt.

    Long story Short...I think I waisted my $$$! I'll start saving for a Black Aces Rail. I saw on Reddit the finished product with 19" barrel.
    Did it still function as designed?
    I am searching for a muzzle brake also. Time(& $$$) will tell

    Hi, I've tried this combination and had some problems, the stock loosens up after repeated firing, the the reducers aren't strong enough and will shear after time, if you Dremel too much out from the stock the blowback from the bolt will hammer the 40mm bolt right back out and you'll be left holding a receiver in front of all your friends (that was pretty funny, Billy BadAss to Dumb Schmuck in 0 - 2 minutes lol) the screws that hold the rail obviously weren't field tested for repeated use and will shear off; you'll be left with broken screws in holes drilled into your shotgun... Just thought I'd provide some product testing info for you.
    All these failures occurred within the first 20 rounds.

    • @fracturedhearts3734
      @fracturedhearts3734 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Why did you have to dremel out the stock? Also why are use using such a long bolt? As for the rail just why? all you need is a small bit of rail for the receiver and a smaller bit on the barrel if you want to use AR sights.

    Don't cut the barrel!

    • @booliganshootingsports
      @booliganshootingsports  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Already did and got it running great at 19" long. Why do you say not to cut the barrel? It's fully legal to do so as long as the barrel length remains over 18".

    • @genesmiley3727
      @genesmiley3727 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sometimes on gas guns, when you cut the barrel, you lesson the time the gas has to act on the piston working the action. I saw another review on this gun, where the owner had cut the barrel and the gun didn't work reliably anymore. I guess you could open the gas ports some if needed. But, you said you already cut yours and it is holding up fine. Good deal, am happy for you!

    • @booliganshootingsports
      @booliganshootingsports  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@genesmiley3727 Yeah, the gas ports needed some polishing and opening up a smidge for a broader range of ammo capabilities even before cutting the barrel. These aren't super reliable guns in stock form, so cutting the barrel did require some tweaks to make it run better, but that was part of the plan for this build all along.

      Good luck with the channel. Pro tip: if you’re going to brag about your parts, make sure they’re actually the parts you’re bragging about and that they’re actually worth bragging about in the first place. And don’t like your own comments, it’s cringe.
