    I just really love the look on the gun - it's got that 20th century cold war vibe with wood on gunmetal and a modern magazine.

    I never understood why anyone would make a magazine that holds the bolt open when they could just design their weapon with a bolt catch.

      Laziness and corner cutting. By removing the bolt hold open the designers have one less variable and it streamlines production marginally. It's pretty common in cheaper guns.

      For a shotgun it makes total sense, as you can pop a cartridge straight into the chamber, then take out the mag which loads that round in, then put a fresh mag in, so now you have the mag + 1 & already loaded with no need to cock.

    These cheap gas action shotguns need a few things, but work well and are very tough.
    1. Tear down deep clean. All grease/cosmo removed and check gas system for machining crap.
    2. Replace any o-rings with good american made versions. The factory chinese pieces may work after the other things are done, but they will disintegrate after 50ish rounds. Turkish shotguns are the same in this reguard.
    2. Keep the bolt/fire group dripping wet with oil during break-in (at least 50 rnds of high brass buck) let the oil and powder residue mix up and create a slurry during break in. It helps to lap the parts together.
    3. Most important:
    KEEP IT TIGHT TO YOUR SHOULDER, LEAN INTO IT.
    The bolt depends on the inertia of your body to run smoothly in its track. When you let it flop around even a little bit it will slow down enough to cause malfunction. It gets less sensitive with more rounds fired.
    Sometimes its a good idea to stone the extractor, smooth the flat bearing surfaces where it contacts the bolt in its channel, and make sure the hook section is smooth with crisp, square edges.
    Another 30lbs on your frame would help you out quite a bit as well, but that comes with experience (i.e. "age")

    I just ran mine today with 25 loads that are the exact opposite of what's reccomended - Light 2 3/4 target loads, very low brass. Hiccuped about for about 9 rounds and then kicked all the rest out flawlessly. I'm certain it's just a matter of luck, and I got quite lucky because even the 'decent' ones I see videos of seem to be junk. And cosmetically mine is absolutely junk. Worse fit and finish I've ever seen in my life. Came banged up out the box. I do enjoy the recoil energy a lot. It's not brutal but you can tell you're shooting a shotgun because in part, the recoil pad isn't one. It's just a piece of plastic. The patterning was the second biggest surprise, being excellent despite most of the parts, including the end of the barrel, being cut by a child laborer with an angel grinder.
    A really good teehee is the fact that the barrel looks like a piece of galvanized pipe inside, and the operating rod has welds that look like hammered shit. Everything is totally dicked basically but it was worth it.

  • @OldToughDW
    @OldToughDW 7 ปีที่แล้ว

    You have a problem with throat and you needed to tap your mags to seat the rounds like the teach in the military. Firmly tap them three times on your palm. The ejector in the bolt may need work as well. I had an older M1A that was unreliable until I cleaned the gas piston and port, now it functions 100% of the time. It was lead fouled. Simple little things can really mess up performance. And with guns as with most things, "you get what you pay for." $140 is what I would expect to pay for a break open single shot shotgun.

    About 75% of these guns have burrs in the gas ports that need to be pushed out with a drill bit shank. Otherwise they won't get enough gas to cycle properly. Although, your problem was you were using the wrong ammo. Get something that's proper "high brass" which is a 3-3/4 dram equivalent load like Remington Express 2-3/4" or Federal High Brass 2-3/4". Buckshot is not "high brass" by default, some buckshot (like the brand you used) is underpowered.
    I've got two of these things and they both work perfectly. One of mine had the gas port burrs but I fixed them before I shot it so it wasn't an issue. My brother got one too, and his needed the rivets on the op-rod restaked because they didn't rivet them right. Five minutes with a punch and fixed. So they're not perfect out of the box but the three of them have been working perfectly (because I looked them over and corrected the minor issues you will find on a $140 Chinese knock off of a $2000 Beretta shotgun).

      @@SpunkMayo stop being a moron who doesn't read. Most of the post was blaming the shitty manufacturing. You don't seem to understand how gas operated guns work though, you can't just toss whatever ammo in them and expect them to run it no matter how expensive or well built they are. The powder has to be right to give sufficient gas volume to cycle the gun. That's why most new semi auto shotguns are inertia operated now, because it's more idiot proof for all the idiots that think you should be able to run every kind of ammo in the gun as long as the box says 12ga. This gun is $140 though, what do you really expect? If you want an operator proof semi auto shotgun suck it up and get a benelli.

    Very fast mass produced machinery work leaves burrs and and other types of flashing on the bolt and bolt guide track.gas ports need looked at for burring and maybe cosmoline build up also ,check out feed ramps for any kind of lower allignment infraction s such as burrs or flashing ,if so smooth and polish ramp and use smooth casing shells no shells with other cars grooves to catch a sharp edge as it cycles in and out .this was a big problem I found with lorcin pistols that had poorquality control during and after machining .the mass production rate was so fast that burrs and flashing went undetected and causaed alot of proplems with those guns .but don't throw it away yet! With a little finish work you can go through the whole thing and do your own quality control and take a fine file , sand paper and Dremel grinder well you get the picture clean all the cosmoline out of the internal working parts ,hell when you are done you might find out you have a pretty good gun.

    You tampered with the 3 round magazine. Just use high brass casings and hot ammo.

    Maybe if you shot high brass like the manual says to use you would've had less problems. Cheap buckshot usually isn't high brass. Clean every bit of cosmoline out, lube it appropriately, and shoot what the manual says to shoot. I bought mine from Centerfire Systems and just got done shooting it. Absolutely no issues with high brass. I'll be posting some videos on tweaking it for low brass. The piston looks like it could take Remington shotgun gas seals. If I'm wrong, I'll drill the gas ports out slightly.

      Jacob Wright got mine from centerfire as well, ran 4 boxes of winchester super X high brass shells through it and out of 100 rounds I had 1 failure to eject. I'm satisfied with the gun but it's definitely not a high quality gun.

      I had one of these marked norinco with wood stock and plastic forend ..it was picky about ammo . ballooned case heads badly with some ammo and . you can remove the mag follower and cut the bottom edge of the follower down and it will hold 5 shells .. And watch for The gas hole in the forend ..it will burn you and i had to make a replacement ejector pin from a grade 8 machine screw .the original sheared off within 20 rounds yours works better than mine ever did . quality control is hit or miss with these guns . if you get a good one its great . if you get a bad one good luck

    I want to point out. There is no city of Junxing in China. There is a street in Taiwan named Junxing. A few hotels. Thats about it. Your weapon might have been made by slaves in China.

    I just about peed myself when you shot at the SAS-12 with your pistol. Unless you've got some serious CGI budget going on there, you were rolling the dice... glad you didn't shoot it. I've only killed one gun in my lifetime, and it felt bad even though it was a POS.
    You've got the best undiscovered channel on the TH-cams. Demolition Ranch ain't got sh*t on you. Keep it up. I know how much money you're probably making on these, so it's truly a labor of love for you.

    Why even bother with a magazine if it only holds 3 or 5 rounds? If I bought one, I'd spend the extra cash making some from scratch or modifying them to make it worth owning. 10 would be better. 20+ would be ideal.

    I would say just open up the gas port, but with that fire coming out at 7:44 it seems over gassed as is. Just a bad pos all around. And damn if that ending didn't make my fucking day lol!

    the dominion arms aka grizzly aka 870 copy by Norinco has a magfed version.
    Looking at your mag and comparing to mine (from Norc 870 magfed), I'm pretty sure they would fit your sas-12

    • @Kjaskaar
      @Kjaskaar  7 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Bruce Bosco the manual specifies high pressure loads of over 1200fps, not strictly high brass, but even so if you need premium ammo to cycle a cheap gun you've got problems.
      That aside, there were several other issues present that would keep if from cycling which I'll be addressing in a future video. Hopefully I won't have to tamper with the gas ports, we'll see.
