    I love Sams positivity and the video is dedicated to showing you something, instead of selling something. I much rather support a pro like this and company supporting them. Love what you're doing here Sam!

    Thank you for the video. I'm confused about the tip around 1:20 - "push front foot down ... this creates lift...". Did you mean front or rear foot?

    • @pixeldrew
      @pixeldrew 4 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Yeah it's counter intuitive, but a slight push down with your front foot just before you lift up your rear foot will cause your weight to shift forward and cause the foil to slightly pump giving you more lift when you get your front foot back.
      Rather than trying to start with a rear pump which will drive your weight back making the foot switch harder, do this to put your weight forward. Also doing the push down will give you a good guage of how much the kite is giving you lift and if you have to pull the bar in to get that extra lift.

    • @SamLight
      @SamLight  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Cheers, thanks drew, he nailed it, as he said its a slight push down with the front foot that buys you extra time to move your feet, yewww

    Yea! Love your videos and am working on this move now. Any thoughts on perfecting this in the 24" or 30" mast rather than the 36"? I'm so much more comfortable on my 24" mast, but don't want to jinx future learning.

    • @SamLight
      @SamLight  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I think go with the mast you are most comfortable on, I do find a longer mast does give me more margin for error

    Hey Sam nice video. Also I just subscribed to your channel. Do you ever do any kite surfing in America and where are the top places to learn how to kite surf in the world in your opinion?

    • @SamLight
      @SamLight  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey Bill, thanks for subscribing! America is one of my favourite places to kitesurf, the best place to learn is REAL watersports on the outer banks in NC, or Hood River in Oregon is awesome as well. Other good places are the Caribbean or Brazil, cheers!

    Cool instructional and great footage. You forgot to mention: bring the board back to taxi (on the water) and practice the move there first. This goes for learning anything new on the foil.

    I see some clips you have a 90cm? aluminum mast and others looks like a ghost whisper carbon mast? What foil are you using for each mast?

    • @SamLight
      @SamLight  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm using the Slingshot Hoverglide V4 package with the aluminium mast and the Ghost Whisperer 590 wing with 101 mast

    • @BrettWae
      @BrettWae 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@SamLightHover glide V4, Is that similar to the H5/timecode 57 foil? Lastly, how would you say the hoverglide compares to the 590?

    Helpful vid . I’m trying footchanges at the moment. My feeling is keep your upper body as still and stable as possible, so the movement is feet, or from the waist down only. And that shows in your vid. JK

      Backroll jibe video in the pipeline, just got to send it to keep the speed up 😃it helps if you push down into the board while carving just before taking your weight of to create more lift. big ups 😃 thanks for the support!

      Sam Light only got one session on my new set up before the lock down. I’m crap at toeside in one direction and I don’t think that’s going to change so learning to switch my feet will be a better option in the long run. You do make that look very easy though!

    • @SamLight
      @SamLight  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yea switch toeside is super hard! Learning this foot switch opens up loads of doors! It’s taken me years to finally get that comfortable, stick with it 💪🏼 cheers
