100 percent agree, although unfortunately most drug addicts in my experience, aren't interested in any of the pharmacology, which is why they often die from drug use. I am a drug user myself but got off heroin in 2004. I'm on Buprenorphine.
Why is there a double standard regarding opium? People say weed, mushrooms, etc are natural and should be legal. But nobody says "legalize opium". I think it would help people taper off from heroin...
My best friend / partner of 11 years overdosed on heroin in January 2021. He had stopped using years ago and just restarted. I suspect he may have taken the old dose he was tolerant too and this led to his overdose. He was in a car with other people and lay there over an hour before they realized he was dead. They thought he was sleeping. Please think about others in your life if you choose to use. The pain is indescribable.
As a former Heroin addict/user in the UK, and someone who's interested in pharmacology, this is brilliant because so many people and almost all addicts who abuse the drug and others, lack any understanding in the subject, which as I often find, doesn't end well. This video has all the most interesting information in it, the first few minutes was more informative than most other videos on TH-cam. Nice one. These users tend not to care about how drugs work in the body, they just want to get high. I speak from experience. Although he said the effects are around 45 minutes, what you tend to find is the sedation lasts for several hours in some cases, although maybe it's become poor quality since i last used in 2004.
It's almost impossible to get proper pain management meds these days. The opioid crackdown is one of the most cruel things the US government has done in the last 100 years.
I was a cop in East Los Angeles when I was younger, it was not uncommon to see someone dead in an alley or slum hotel with the needle still in their infected arm. This was the 1990s before Fentanyl.
Extended release formulations are mostly pills and rarely depo injections, naloxone cant be taken up orally, so its easier to use naltrexone for a longer opioid antagonist effect. Also naloxones short duration is ideal for emergency situations since you can administer until an overdose ends instead of having the patient withdraw for an unecessary amount of time
About it having the best rush. In my opinion Oxycodone gives a better rush. I suspect Oxycodone has some kind of Secondary effect on Dopamine other opiates do not have. After first dose of Oxycodone it feels very similar to cocaine.
I did heroin 2 times in my twenties cause I’d done everything else, LSD, mushrooms, peyotes, barbs, amphetamines. So I had a trusted friend hook me & a friend up with the best China white, the correct amount etc. I immediately understood why it was so addictive. My friend puked on it but it didn’t make me sick. He suggested I leave it alone. I did, for 30 yrs. Then came OxyContin. Unlike hydros that are mixed w/tylenol, time released Oxys just had a coating that wash off, leaving a dry white pill that could be crushed, cooked & injected just like the heroin from years ago. You knew the exact dosage & was clean as morphine. He’s correct on how short a time addiction begins. I started noticing flu symptoms after 4-5 hrs that went away with a shot. I was using 3 times a day. So I thought CRAP!! I immediately started halfing the amounts, every 3rd day. 40mg to 20mg etc. In 3 weeks, I was clean. It wasn’t fun but doable. Never went back. I take an aspirin for headaches & don’t drink. Best drug ever made!🔥 Methadone, I’ve heard is worse than heroin to get off of. 🤷🏻♀️
Heroin, it destroyed my youth. Especially with cocaine. Fifteen years of IV speedballing...I almost have no veins left. I'm twelve years clean, anyway. Methadone saved me.
@@MattCantu76 I couldn't agree more. Often people forget that diamorphine is only a kind of morphine which kicks in faster. That's all. @@MrGothic78 what will help with fentanol withdrawal so cancer patient can get proper medication from doctor before it's to late ? Thank you 🙏 in advance
@@positivethinker2855 Sorry to hear that. Yes, it's a strong synthetic opiod, it's very potent. It only takes a few hours to feel complete analgesia, and doctors use to prescribe the so called "rescue dose", along with fentanyl patches. It can oral morphine (immediate release), or oxycodone (i. r.), hydrmorphone(i. r.). @@Umberto2 Man, that is so not true. Tons and tons of people still drop acid all the time. There's a HUGE market for it.
