"Little bit difficult to get off benzodiazepines". That's an understatement. I never experienced anything nearly as horrible as Xanax withdrawal and it took a long long time to taper off with Valium. I wish my doctor would've given me hydroxyzine instead way back then. I can and have quit hydroxyzine cold turkey with no problems

I have severe allergies and this works really good for hives....and anxiety. It makes you really slow down after about an hour and and half after you take it. Be prepared to either take a nap or try to fight it the best you can by keeping active. I've been using it off and on for years and it still has the same effect on me. I only take as needed... meaning only when I am covered in hives and can't stand the itchiness anymore. It works almost right away for allergies.

Hey there.... just a tip from me. I was prescribed Doxepin for depression and trouble sleeping. I was on it about 10 years. Meanwhile I thought maybe I could do without the doxepin. Doc had me taper off and was ok at first but then I got this really awful sensitivity to touch. It would start as an itch that would turn into a very painful burning itch. Even a slight touch could set it off. I tried about 2 months and had to go back on. Later another doctor changed it to hydroxyzine. It works well for me. I don't know if I had an unusual reaction coming off the doxepin but it was torture. Thanks for this good lesson.... I learned from you and it's the first time I've come across you.

I got home with my prescription and immediately took it. I sort of forgot I took it but probably within 15 minutes I remembered and thought "theres no way its already working" sure enough i looked it up and the effects can be that quick. @@kurbicksan4917 It honestly just depends on life. I don't take it every day but I will if I have something big going on or anytime I'm feeling particularly anxious. Ill take it consistently if I'm doing something new until I can get comfortable without it. I deal with anxiety everyday but it just depends on how bad it is.
I take it every night because it also helps as a sleep aid. It seems as if it loses the effectiveness the more you take it so I try to limit my usage

I’ve never seen the benefit of this drug for anxiety...I wish I did. The doctors are running from benzos even for those who need it. I’m hoping drugs like this that work for some people can help us tackle anxiety regularly. This is such a debilitating disease and to know it CAN be treated, but that we haven’t found a class of medications in which the benefits outweigh the risks, is just sad. I hope we figure this out in my lifetime, but I’m not holding my breath. Regardless, thanks for the videos. I always consult your lectures before initiating a medication

So I am an alcoholic who is weaning off alcohol. I can't stop completely because it causes massive anxiety issues and can be dangerous. I told the doctor I cannot have any type of narcotic, but I need something to help control the anxiety and some other symptoms. They prescribed this to me and it has worked wonders. First couple of days it caused me to be quite sleepy, but after a while it just kinda... calms me down. I am super happy they went with this medicine to help me go through what I'm doing. So far I'm down to about half the amount of alcohol I drink and I regularly just don't want to drink (thank god). The loss of concentration is real, but it isn't anything crazy. Seems that the first few days are when the symptoms are the most common.

I just came off of that 400 mgs for sleep. Helluva drug to go off cold turkey. I don't wish that on anyone. I'm older and like you every night I would wonder if I would even wake up from seroquel. It can cause sudden cardiac death amid many other side effects. It caused me pancreatitis and I still get attacks frequently. Hope you can get off. Very hard to sleep w/o it. A low dose benzo is far healthier. Nothing is even better if you can go a couple months w/o good sleep.

I’ve been experiencing extreme anxiety about my heart rate recently, and I ended up going to get some testing done like ECG, stress test, and ultrasound. Even after all of that my anxiety still persists. I’ve had an extended holter monitor for 14 days and I still can’t get it out of my head. After taking this specific medication I’ve noticed extra instances of ectopic heartbeats, and a little bit of relief when it comes to constantly being aware of my own heart rate. So I suppose I would be asking, does this drug increase the chances of my ectopic heartbeats?

I have had the exact. Same. Experience. Had a series of panic attacks in my younger years which lead to my own awareness of my heartbeat. Worst year or two of my life. I was constantly worried I was going to die, was constantly checking my heart rate and blood pressure, had an ultrasound on my heart, had to wear a Mobile monitor that measured my blood pressure every hour, the whole works. Was prescribed hydroxyzine , and it all went away. The anxiety of feeling my heartbeat, the actual awareness of my heart beat, everything. Actually 10 days ago stopped taking hydroxyzine after taking it every single day for over 3 years (which is not a good idea) , and it helped me Through my tough times.

There are days where I take it every day and then there are days where I only take it once or twice a week and then I won’t take it again for over another week or so, it’s prescribed for me 3 times a day AS NEEDED. this medication literally only works as an antihistamine. prescription benedryl. 10/10 do not recommend for my generalized anxiety, panic disorder, agoraphobia, social anxiety & ptsd.
my psych said i can take it to help me sleep if needed, rather than wasting my klonopin that i need during the day.

Just took this medicine (Half of 25 mg) to see how it would affect me. After a half hour, I felt normal & took another 12.5 mgs.
It feels very much like a benzodiazepine to me, except you dont have the slow body feeling. Over all its nice, and I'm so glad to feel normal for once. Just worried after a few days it will lose its effects.

It is extremely sedating. You won't be able to function if you do.

I have it on hand but I try not to take it because I get so sleepy. It’s only a 10 mg pill.

Was prescribed 25mg as needed for panic attacks that sent me to the ER. I took it and it hit me super fast, like within 5 mins. The first hour was rough, it almost made have another panic attack but about 2 hours in it was fine, however I was very groggy the next day but slept great.

I got prescribed this for my flight... I hate heights so I’m hoping this works. I told my Dr. I’m gonna drink with it also. He said that’s fine.

Did taking that medicine for your flight make you sleepy when you took it? I’m leaving and flying out of the country in a day or two and I was prescribed 25mg 30min before flight snd I’ve seen horrible videos of bad reviews. I don’t want to be sleepy and not be able to be awake enough to get to my connecting flight

@@BUSHEY111 it worked slightly! If I didn’t drink with it, I feel like my anxiety still would of been really high. But it had a slight impact on making me relaxed .. Deff have a drink or 2 with it, and you will be fine
