  • Wasup guys its PK,
    So today we visit VCD racing with Louis and shows us how to install brake pads and rotors on my Civic Type R. Pretty straight forward like an old car, only difference is with a fk8 similar to some german cars needs to be in maintenance mode.
    Overall no complaints with the reat rotors and pads. Once I install the front we will truly know the comparison compared to OEM.

    So how do I disengage the parking brake/retract the pistons in order for the pads to slide in and out?

    • @maganamfg
      @maganamfg  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Once into maintenance mode, you program it to retract.

      @@shenray337 to go into maintenance mode need An ob2 reader. Seen some online for $30-$50. I won’t say which brand as I only done it with the snap on ob2 reader. I do plan to buy one to test out myself once I do need to do rear again.

    I just destroyed my drivers side rear brake piston. You can skip the maintenance mode thing, by grabbing the piston with a pair of pliers, or Honda's piston tool. rotate the piston clockwise until it stops, then you can compress the piston like normal old brakes. Expensive mistake on my part.

    You ever do the front rotors and pads ? Also what are the part numbers ?

    • @maganamfg
      @maganamfg  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hello yes I did the front rotors and pads. Very easy. Need to remove these 2 pins covering the brakes. After you push the calipers back in and replace the pads with the new ones in place. Install the 2 pins back. Remove the caliper bolts from the back to remove the caliper. Take off the one screw holding the rotor and all pops off. All this is similarly older civics except you now have to remove the 2 pins to access the pads. I contacted R1 concepts via email and they shipped the parts. Sorry I did not get part number pictures.
