You know what I call this band? A MIRACLE.
Yeah, it's ALL our favorite artists rolled into one. How is that even possible? And it's not a bunch of dirty hippy dudes. It's five Japanese goddesses. Could we have seen THIS coming 10 years ago? Absolutely NOT.

Lovebites is breaking the walls of stereotypes in the metal scene. Some people say that brutality has never been so gorgeous.

That background sound is Miyako, pre-recorded on something like an old Hammond organ. I've been listening to hard rock and metal since Cream and Hendrix laid the groundwork for it, and I've never heard a better pair of contrasting solos. And Miho and Haruna just crushed it. This was maybe the fourth song I heard from them, and it was the one that convinced me they are more than great, they are game-changing.

Just when I thought all of my favorite musicians had either died or retired, I discovered Lovebites, Band-Maid, Nemophila, Jinjer, Unleash the Archers, and many other awesome bands keeping rock and metal alive. Hopefully, long after this old-school metal bass player is gone.

I loved that part where Miho’s bass eased it into Miyako’s soft solo. Also Miyako has prerecorded her own keyboard backing tracks to be strategically placed where the song needs them.

Love this song of course. I love the influences, that is why they are my favorite band. The solos showed each of them doing what they do best, Midori shredding and Miyako wringing out emotion. I swear Miyako could make me cry with her guitar. Ya, Miho left and the final auditions are done so we are just waiting for them to tell us.

Quite sure they use click tracks.
When they asked Miyako to join, it was also taken into account that she would do the piano/keyboard parts. But as you've heard: the compositions are quite intricate, so doing the same live is hard. To get a fuller sound they use a back-track on top of the click.

  • @ricdale7813
    @ricdale7813 ปีที่แล้ว +37

Thrash Hard? Hell yes they do. The Deep Purple organ is Miyako on a backing track. She would like too play this live as well but her 2 hands are already quite busy. The girls use very little backing tracks and the ones they use enhance rather than deceive. Want a real mind melt try Lovebites Winds of Transylvania. The speed and Guitar tricks will blow youre mind.

As most other bands using more back track in live concert . But love bite 💯 🔥💫⭐️✨⚡️

Repeat after me “there is no bad Lovebites song”. You are fast becoming my favourite reaction channel (Lovebites focus) because of your attention to detail. Miho wrote this but Miyako’s solo was incorporated at her request. There are insufficient superlatives in the English language to describe them. I can’t express how much I adore this band.

LOVEBITES - Break The Wall lyrics:
(DIE) No sign of my time
Cause I wish to live another life
(BY) Who will save my poor soul?
Crying alone in a dim hole
    (MY) Can't believe it's real
Cause in the end, everything is gone
(SIDE) How should I live from now?
Find myself staring at the walls
    Tonight, I'll break the wall
    It's now or never
    Now, I'm on my own
    I've gotta get free
    Bite, I'll break the chain
    Run to my shelter
    Make it out alive
I have to break through the wall
    (DIE)
    No sign of my crime
    Got my scars during wartime
    (BY)
Who's the one that did it
    Deadly venom eating me inside
    (MY)
    Spent my life in vain
    I can't forget everything I've done
    (SIDE)
    I swear to my hatred
Find myself staring at the walls
    Tonight, I'll break the wall
    It's now or never
    Now, I'm on my own
    I've gotta get free
    Bite, I'll break the chain

Thrash and speed are my favorite sub genres. Lovebites adds power and heavy metal into the mix, and blend it to precise perfection. Being 62 I've grown up with thrash, with my metal journey beginning in 1971 with Zeppelin. Lovebites are one of the best with backing tracks, and Miyako's key work is sweet.
I can say this may be my favorite thrash song ever. Class Dismissed by Exodus, Hostage to Heaven by Grip Inc, Fade Away by Heathen, just a spec of thrash songs I love. Exodus is my favorite thrash band. Metallica, Slayer, Megadeth, all kings of thrash. This song just stands tall. Complex composition, elite/prodigy level talent, Asami a unique vocalist, best guitar duo arguably ever with Miyako and Midori, Miyako who drives the classical influence and plays piano at elite level, Haruna one of the best metal engines I've ever heard, Miho playing perfectly in sync with Haruna, and the endless influences you hear in every song. My all time favorite band.

When the Lovebites members (excluding Miyako) compose a song, it generally goes to Mao to fine tune it, since both Miyako and Mao have classical training in composition. So for Miyako's compositions, you'll just see her name, but for the other members compositions, you'll usually see Miho/Mao or Midori/Mao, etc. An exception is Bravehearted, which Haruna wrote while she was in Destrose, pre-Lovebites, and is credited to her only. This song is another exception, written by Miho, but instead of Mao getting the secondary credit, Miyako does. She added the slow transition and solo part, which I think was fairly brilliant, although even without that part, this would likely be one of my favourite Lovebites songs. Although Miyako is their primary composer, Miho is (was) the old school metalhead and thrash queen in Lovebites and she wrote their best songs of that particular type, so it will be interesting to see where they go sound-wise once they get back on track with their new bass player.

    • @Phoenix-ci7ix
      @Phoenix-ci7ix ปีที่แล้ว +3

Hope their music remains the same even without Miho.
She was a key member and the metal head responsible for awesome lyrics and thrasy compositions. Will miss her always. 😢
The other goddesses are brilliant musicians and I am sure their choice of a new bassist will be in terms of what they have in mind.
Lovebites is the best thing that happened to me .......waiting eagerly for them to come out with a bang .
      Glory to Lovebites 🤘 🐺🐺🐺🐺🐺 🔥

I think you only need look at the variety of the six Miyako songs on Electric Pentagram plus Dystopia Symphony, not to mention the recent contributions from Asami and Midori, to have a good idea where they are going sound-wise. I am interested to see how much influence Mao will have going forward. Considering how fast Miyako writes, she could do the same thing Mao did with the Asami and Midori songs. Although I would prefer the ladies working internally on their songs, I would still like to see Mao song on the next album. I consider Edge of the World as one of the Lovebites masterpieces.

DIE BY MY SIDE, each song you hear you will be surprised and blown away, and each you hear will automatically become a favorite that's how good they are. Yes, they tend you play as many greats of the past and incorporate them all in one song that is what separates Lovebites from all the rest period. You gotta go with The Awakening/Hammer of Wrath, MDO, and Addicted as your next choices . The main reason why their songs are from the lovebites jp channel it does not belong the ladies but to corp, they tend to block and Copywrite everything

Best new band in about 30 years, for me. Seeing as nobody seems to have mentioned it yet.... it's correct that Miho left the band, just over a year ago. As far as we know, they don't have a new bassist yet... but they probably do. They've completed their auditions, but there has been no announcement yet. Most recently, Haruna tweeted that they were going to take their time to make sure they made the right choice, but I feel it's imminent now. It's possible, although I'm just guessing, that the announcement may come along with some new music as all the band members have spent time in the studio in recent months. We'll soon find out!

Sounds like a Hammond organ. It's a backing track; they must be playing to a click track, or at least Haruna does. Nightwish often does the same, but with Nightwish I sometimes get the impression that half the song is backing track, whereas Lovebites use backing tracks sparingly. Still, I'd prefer they hire a sixth member (a multi-instrumentalist maybe?) and play the keys live on stage.

(Crash also plays the flute, I think?) Personally, I would be interested to hear a song with added baritone guitar (check out a video on YT), or arrangements with three guitars for the heavier songs (imagine Shadowmaker with three guitars, and give the sixth member a solo instead of repeating the chorus in the finale).

Miho left the band; that she formed, because of personal reasons. Part of which was still trying to deal with the loss of her father. Her real life hero.
She wrote a song called 'Journey To The Other Side' with Miyako & Mao. Here's a link below. If you are like the rest of us, it will tear at your heart & Soul, near the end. But poor you. Their song 'MDO' is on before it. So you either skip it, or react to a 2 for 1 offer. No one will complain about that, I'm sure. But a lot might complain if you skip 'MDO'. It's a real banger. th-cam.com/video/QPMCj6PiJFc/w-d-xo.html

I'm not sure if that would be Miyako or Mao, their frequent collaborator who was in the band Lightbringer, playing the organ for the backing track, but that's all it is. It's probably Miyako since Mao isn't credited on this track. Whether it's a real Hammond or, more likely, a synth set to the Hammond sound, who knows. I believe Miho has a chorus pedal active during the transition between solos, but it took me a few viewings to recognize it because I rarely use my chorus pedal. Great song, and this version is better than the "Daughters of the Dawn" version.

Sooo good. I love the Testament influences in this song. For a similarly refreshing update on this Thrash/Power Metal sound with a twin lead guitar attack, I recommend the band HOLY GRAIL, from Pasadena, California. I offer this suggestion as an even older Thrash Metal head who did see Testament, Exodus, Slayer, Overkill and other bands in small clubs in the 80s on their way up.

    Another good reaction from you!
"Break The Wall" is an amazing song. Every time when I listen to it, I hear something new. This music is so deep and different!
This time I recommend you something different. The song "Spellbound" is really cool. In this song Miyako didn't play guitar! It sounds like a disco song from 80s, but with Lovebites style. And it is a very fun song - girls are often smiling in this video. You will be impressed.
Thank you for your reaction! Waiting for new reactions to Lovebites.

The background sounds a lot like the synth keyboard which was used a lot in the 70's rock, like by Deep Purple, Led Zepellin etc.

In the 70s they often used a mellotron in progressive music. I guess that´s what you meant?

Yes! You immediately recognized the Testament-influence in the main riff! It is clearly influenced by "Over the Wall", the opening track of Testament's debut "The Legacy" - for verification purposes, just go to the 34-seconds-mark in this clip: th-cam.com/video/lqlHxV9Pvcc/w-d-xo.html With "Break the Wall", "Set the World on Fire" and "The Hammer of Wrath", Lovebites have taken what I loved about my favourite Thrash Metal bands in the eighties to the next level!
If I did understand you correctly, you wouldn't mind recommendations of Thrash Metal bands you might have missed way back then, right? How about the all-female Swedish band Ice Age? They started in the second half of the eighties - thus about 30 years prior to Lovebites - and were (to my knowledge) the first all-female Thrash Metal band. I recommend a live version of my favourite song by them, "Instant Justice", from 1989 played by the original line-up: th-cam.com/video/W-Yx7X0gO-g/w-d-xo.html While the sound and picture quality is (of course) not as good as the perfect quality of this Lovebites-clip, I'd say it's still good enough to be presented in a reaction video. If you don't want to use this live clip, there is an official promo-video (which was aired on MTV around 1989, even though the band didn't have a record deal) here: th-cam.com/video/7C8kK7lXZRQ/w-d-xo.html
While the sound and picture quality of this clip might be slighly better than the live-clip, it features Debbie Gunn (Ex-Sentinel Beast) on vocals instead of the original singer and also an additional (female) guitarist. I definitely do advise against using the "official video" featuring the version from their debut album "Breaking the Ice" released in 2017 (thus about 30 years after the original version), because I definitely like it less than the previous two versions. It also should be mentioned that on this debut album only two of the founding members were left (the singer/guitarist and the bassist) and it also features a drummer of the male persuasion. I'm not saying that this new version is bad, but for me, it doesn't really represent what the band was and sounded like way back in the eighties.

The slow solo is a100% Gary Moore, and even the guitar is the same - Gibson Les Paul.
