I have 10 by 15 greenhouse that I use to extend my growing seaso living in a cold climate need that I plant some veggies in 5 gallon buckets 🪣 to move into and out of greenhouse
I have a small 10x16 greenhouse out the front of my suburban house. I only use it to start seedlings in spring and fall, as it is too hot here in summer.
I've been thinking about a bigger greenhouse than originally planned but didn't know if it would of been worth it here in East Texas because we do already have a longer growing season & thought it wouldn't be as useful during the Summer. The shade cloth is a great idea though! Great video!
We would love to be able to put a Green House up on our property, but with 4-5 feet of snow every winter and our day temperatures of only 10-25 degrees simply isn’t feasible up here. Good video!
That is the best place for a greenhouse. I know plenty of people in the North with them including in my birth State of Michigan. Some have them heated. Some are Walapini style (1/2 buried in the ground). Some use that snow that slides off the top as an insulator.
That's the whole point--to grow out of season, or start earlier in the season. How do you think they do it in Canada? Just one layer (of plastic or plexiglass) will bring the greenhouse into a higher growing zone. If you add heat or more layers, you raise the zone again. Re: snow, just dust it off with a pole/shovel/broom, the same way they do solar panels.
@@nadiar.7788 Exactly! I’ve seen TH-camrs growing in -25, or at least keeping their stuff alive without heating their greenhouse! People just don’t understand why it’s possible until they get out of the box and start learning.
@@CountryLivingExperience Thank you! that's awesome, I've heard of this solution. I worry it would drive my car hungry dogs crazy until they catch it. Does your dog have that issue?
Thoroughly even your videos. Including this one. Since you and I (Henderson, Rusk County) are in East Texas we're probably not far from each other would you allow me a short visit you regarding your greenhouse in person? Please advise.
How would you properly secure the green house down so that when there's high winds it doesn't blow away? I'm in zone 7- 7b. Is it worth it for me to get a green house?
Great question. We have wind strapping on ours and the posts are 24" in the ground. You can see exactly how we built it here.....th-cam.com/play/PLe8gvCbPFkex58gYavWYHVPVwYxZqyd3E.html. We have not had any issues with wind.
How do you get pollinators in and out? We put up a greenhouse 10x20 this spring and planted tomatoes and cucumbers in it. The bees that made it in could never find their way out, so we had to remove the plastic cover.
in my country, we are near the equator and the bananas grow very well in the open garden, its our main food staff, from uganda, africa
We have been looking into greenhouse options for our small lot. Thanks for sharing this information with us. God Bless from Tennessee.
Awesome. Growers solution is in your home State too.

You're welcome

Glad you have something. Those small ones can hold a lot of heat. Have you tried a fan?

Thank you. It has been a blessing.
Nice video and greenhouse. How thick is the plastic and how durable is it to the elements? Thanks.
Thank you. It is holding up perfectly. I think the plastic is 6mil. We have had a lot of storms with high winds and have not had an issue.

You could try a geothermal lean-to style greenhouse to handle the snow-load.
@@CountryLivingExperience exactly!

I've always wanted to have one....but It seems I often see the plastic covering destroyed by high winds.
We have wind strapping on ours. No damage at all
So nice to see that yall are doing great now....
I'll be working on a greenhouse this fall. Would you roll back or remove the shade cloth in the winter months or is there still plenty of sunshine?
Yes. I take it off for winter.
How many beds are you able to comfortably hold in your greenhouse and what size are they?
I have 14 6'x3' beds along the sides. I am placing 2 2'x8' beds in the center and I have a lot of room on the ends for tables and potted plants.
Do you have pack rat/field mouse issues? How do you deal with your greenhouse veggies vs. those if so?
Nope, none at all. We have cats on our property that keep away all small creatures.

No issues at all. My dog and my cats are friends.
Brother i have space on my terrace which gets good sunshine (45x52 ft) ..i need some ideas 🙏🙏
Is it possible to cultivate spinash in cold weather?
Yes but the soil temperature must be high enough to start them first.
Whats the point of a greenhose? Douse a greenhouse need heating during winter?
Do you keep the shade cloth on year round?
I have because I just ran out of time and forgot to take it off in the winter...lol. It didn't make much of a difference with the winter growth.

How do you get pollinators in the greenhouse?
They fly in and out like anything else. I have roll up sides with a lot of space to get in.
Great.

That is an issue with greenhouses. I would say 1/2 of our pollinators don’t get out.
👍
