I want to pick a 2024 up but I am really nervous on the reliability. I have a Tacoma right now which gets horrible gas mileage. Gas is 5 bucks a gallon where I live! The trucks are somewhat affordable, if I get 200k out of it I would be really happy.
@@thejmcGarageso these issues persist on the 2022 hybrid models? curious I’m also coming from Toyota & Lexus hybrids so the reliability is great but thinking of giving a maverick a chance
Thanks for the report. I'm still open minded about picking up a used hybrid mav in a few years, but definitely curious to see what Toyota will bring to the table in compact truck segment.
The Maverick is doomed if Toyota brings a low priced hybrid truck to market. Imagine having Prius like reliability in a small truck as a daily driver. For most of us that would be the perfect vehicle.
they’d have that 20k compact truck the whole world does if it weren’t for our govt.. so in the US it looks like ford beat them due to that but in reality they’ve been having something
I really want to love and get this, it is the perfect size for my use with 4 real seats and a small but still usable bed and excellent MPG... But since I am an Engineer, I cannot buy "Revision A" of most things. Hope it works out and does not cost much to maintain in the future.
Unfortunately with inflation and other price increases, the truck is now nearly the cost of a Ranger. Pricing a lot of people out of the market. I was lucky to get a 2022 right when they released and I love it.
I ordered one for in town daily driving. Alot folks like the maverick so far. But time will tell. Its also easy for my 4 legged pet to jump in back seat.
You've had a lot of issues with your Mav. My 23 XL hybrid has been in the shop for a week with an intermittent power draw somewhere that keeps putting it into deep sleep mode. Completely agree with how it drives, It's so quiet and smooth. I average 46mpg constantly. Far cry from the 23 ranger they gave me for a loaner 😂 21mpg and it rides like a 1 ton truck lol. I'm planning on keeping my Mav for at least 5 years, but I do think my next hybrid small truck will end up being one of the competitors when the time comes.
I had this problem last year. Replaced the battery cable, battery and the the vehicles “computer” last year. That’s fixed and now the CV axles are failing
Things have changed. My first car/truck didn't have a touch anything. Hahaha. 1967 ford ranchero. No power steering no power brakes. 3 speed on the column yes it has three pedals. Dang Im old. Hahaha
I've been interested in one of these since they first came out but I've never been able to put a finger on one, they sell out like fresh hot bread in the morning. I've noticed the market for cars in general is finally softening and you can now find one here and there that you can look at. I was interested in the 4k tow package version but the MPG is abysmal. I'd rather buy a V6 truck or SUV for my towing. Now I'm starting to think that the hybrid, while cheaper than the 2.0L EcoBoost, might fit the bill with the excellent fuel economy. However, I would never buy one of these, I would lease it for 3 years at 12k miles a year. I don't trust Ford like I trust a Toyota or a Honda product and it would just be a long term rental basically that I'd hand the keys back after a few years, if it breaks it's on the dealer to get it fixed, not me. If after 3 years with it, if it impresses me and I feel confident maybe I'd buy one and keep it. That's my philosophy.
@@Lotsofchai It all depends on how much money you put down, hopefully little to none, and the term, interest rate (money factor) and residual value at the end of the lease. In general you will spend more money if you lease a vehicle and then decide to buy it later, either that specific vehicle you just leased or another new one. A lease is only good for very specific reasons, leases aren't for most people, I don't recommend a lease for most people. In my case the vehicle I'm talking about, if I can get it cheap enough on a lease I'd lease it, if you read up about the Ford Maverick and its mechanicals you'll understand why this is a vehicle that you may not want to buy/own long term.
The TCL channel guy bought an all wheel drive Hyundai Santa Cruz, the mid level model without the dual clutch automatic transmission. The Ford Escape and Maverick hybrids have had quite a few reliability problems, also the turbo ecoboost versions. Many have gave up trying to get a new one, Ford greatly reduced the supply to try to sell more Rangers and F-150s for a bigger profit.
My Maverick Hybrid with 35,000 miles has a vibration around 55 MPH if I accelerate at all. I had the tires balanced twice and they were fine. So now I think it's a motor mount that's failing. I found a video on the Maverick forum of an engine moving an alarming amount and that's what mine does. So I think the motor moving due to overly spongy motor mounts is causing a feedback loop between 50 to 60 MPH whenever I accelerate. At least that's my hypothesis. Has anyone else experienced this? Thanks
I like all your videos and personality. I see this video was posted about month ago. I will be watching for the release of your update for the battery voltage unstable? Since your now above the powertrain warranty do you plan on buying an extended warranty? I'm going to be getting my maverick around november and wish to be prepared if needed.
I wasn't aware the motor engine would stay on without the battery being engaged in and out when it was suppose to. So would you confirm that the motor engine will still run independently still if the electrical/battery engine part won't run?? thank you for keeping us aware how you are doing. Good catch with the cv prior to warranty expiring in 500 miles
@@thejmcGarage I just can’t see that vehicle being reliable past 100,000 miles. I think you’re gonna be putting a lot of money into it. You can still get a lot of money for those trucks. It’s not too late to sell it. I remember I had an old Prius with 300,000 miles and when the inverter went up it was $4000 probably even more expensive on the Maverick. And I expect that inverter to go up in about 100,000 miles on that Maverick as well as the battery
