Ancient Delos | Mykonos, Greece | Celebrity Apex 2021 | Solo Travel

- I visit ancient Delos Island, just a few miles from Mykonos, Greece during a port call on the brand new Celebrity Apex.
The day begins with a stunning sunrise as the Celebrity Apex arrives in Mykonos, Greece. I soon depart the Apex and join a ferry boat over to the ancient island of Delos. Delos is thought to be the birthplace of Greek gods Apollo and Artemis. The island was a booming civilization in the second century B.C. I show you around the ruins and tell you of their significance to the people of Greece.
The Celebrity Apex is Celebrity Cruises' brand new luxury ship, currently sailing its inaugural season in Europe through the fall of 2021. I embarked on the cruise from Athens, Greece, and will be visiting Mykonos, Rhodes, Dubrovnik, and Santorini on the 7-day voyage. This is my fifth solo cruise.

We were in the Mediterranean on a 24 day cruise. We did not visit Mykonos. We did visit lots of very nice ports including Venice, Athens, Monte Caro, Santorini, Kotor, France, Rome and Spain.
Sounds like an amazing cruise and itinerary!

Great commentary. I lived on Crete for 2 years and love the history of the Greek Islands. You did the history justice! Still looking forward to my Apex trip next May in the British Aisles! BTW, your video as you approached the island was spectacular.

Hi Zach - been a fan of your channel for a long time now. You're the reason my husband agreed to go on his first cruise with me (your video about having multiple appetisers in the the MDR because you can). You mentioned in this video that there are ports where Celebrity doesn't allow people off the ship unless they book company excursions. Where can I find this information? I'm going on a Celeb Greek cruise in 6 months. and am planning private excursions right now so I def perked up when I heard you say that.
Thank you so much! I'm so glad to hear that you enjoy my videos. The only reason Celebrity was not allowing folks off without cruise line excursions was because this was in 2021 in the early days of cruising after the pandemic shutdown. This is NOT the case any longer, so please disregard.
They say this excursion is strenuous. Is this true?
Zach, is that where the Royal Caribbean ship sank.?
I’m not aware of any Royal ships sinking. The Costa Concordia disaster was off the coast of Italy back in 2012.

So, it's the same class ship as Carnival Slendor. It was Carnival that was mentioned, not RC

Why do they only let you do Celebrity tours to get off the ship? That's ridiculous.
This was in 2021 in the pandemic days and is no longer the policy.
