Sometimes attorneys must defend clients that they know are guilty and it is their job to provide the best possible defense while knowing this. It is sometimes an attorney's job to defend a position they know is wrong or don't agree with. I'm not saying that is the case here but if attorneys only provided representation for positions they believe many criminal defendants would not be represented fairly in due process which is their right. Attorneys want to argue significant cases for the prestige added to their resume.
Obviously she and the other nominees were all coached on how to respond to questions. It's close to lying because her responses give no answers. Does there have to be another law that expressly makes not answering a question in Congress a crime?
If a nominee can't or won't answer all questions, the nominee should be disqualified and disbared.

There's a precedent for not answering questions regarding pending litigation- it's sort of meh.
That's not what Hawley was doing here. He was asking her to elaborate on her own words from 2020.

Which, she still couldn't even answer anything different than what she kept repeating for the 2020 statement's. So, yes it did start out about something in 2020, that she, herself, did say. But, it also changed to more recent quote's, that she has made. All of the while, not changing her answer for any of them. Showing, that no matter what we ask them, it don't matter to them, as long as they get to make the judgement's on us. You know, that stubborn abuse of power that they love to do, so much!? So, not necessarily disagreeing with you. Just, stating, that he did switch it to a similar statement, of more recent time's, not staying with the same first questioned statement, is all. Which, knowing a few lawyer's, I have noticed, that they love to tend to go through a "timeline" scenario, if that make's sense, to lead up to the more recent stuff. Which, isn't really a bad thing, as it give's more knowledge of is answering the question's(Or, in what I have been noticing lately, Liberal party member's not answering the question's in question.) at hand. WHY are individuals not flat out denied the position for not answering questions???? In the REAL world, you would not get hired for a job if you didn't answer an interviewers questions. Personally I would tell the candidate "No vote from me then, have a nice day. NEXT!"
That's exactly what I would do. The first time they gave me the run around BS, I would say, thank you. I see you are not going to answer my questions so I will be unable to vote yes for your nomination, and then surrender the rest of my time.

I don't exactly agree with Sen. Hawley on this topic, but he is RIGHT ON as regards holding nominees feet to fire. Judge Ohta's responses are pathetic, and sounds like she's been coached by the same prep group that all the other judicial nominees have been coached by: "Run out the clock. Always thank the senator for 8 seconds, then spend 25 seconds explaining something that is not an answer to the question asked. Do this 4 times and you will use up all the senator's time." Both parties need to follow the example of Sen. John Kennedy from Louisiana: be firm but polite. Very firm. Very polite. A return to the Reagan-Tip O'Neill era. Part of that etiquette is, for God's sake, use peoples' titles (Judge, Mr Secretary, etc) but don't ever let them think they snowed you. Make them squirm and if possible make them feel like a fool at the end, like when Sen. Kennedy told one nominee he DID understand his one answer about what his favorite color was (the only question he was willing to answer !!!!!)

Weasels. It's incomprehensible to me that she, as a judge or lawyer, who was a member of an advocacy group and presumably was lobbying and advocating for her beliefs, would all of a sudden no longer hold those beliefs and would not apply them in a courtroom. That's not how humans behave.
