Thanks for sharing with us Richard. Looks like your plan is coming together and the building will start soon. Stay safe and keep up the good work and video. Fred.
Really enjoy watching you build in one of your future projects it would be cool if you would consider some type of gazebo or bridge over the creek where you take the dogs and let them play I enjoy the show very much
First video I’ve seen from your channel really enjoyed it! Hewing makes a gorgeous timber. Those buildings have a character that is unmatched by most other building styles. Very beautiful nice work!
I just had a guy give me a big Black Oak and a Black Locust over off of Cosby Hwy. This is the first time I have cut and busted Black Oak I really like working with it. It’s very dense and heavy.
Thank you for clarification on the species. I have a shit ton of poplar and wasn't sure if I could use it structurally. Do you let the poplar sit after cutting? Do you use it green? Do you process the bark? I've seen some places using the bark for siding. Thanks for sharing your videos! I'm learning a lot along the way.
Did you say you don't want the cedars growing on your land or you want them to grow? I love that eastern red cedar, but it doesn't grow here I have western red cedar and Alaskan yellow cedar 🤔
If you cut it old school 2x6 you could go 8-10 ft. All my roofs are pretty much done that way. 16 on center and you’re done. It ranks higher on the wood scale in strength than like pine.
Looking forward to watching the build

I would put the car port up next to the cabin. Less work and closer to the cabin doors if raining lol.
Homemade Greenhouse/chicken sun room in winter an fall for more eggs? Or off the work shop for free heat in late fall, spring? Looking great❤

Honestly, I like any of the “oak” material to work with

I was wondering how poplar wood would handle the weight of a small roof. Would it last or would it sag
