  • In this video we are showing and explaining the range of tooling and consumables that we use for our Sir Meccanica WS2 portable Lineboring and Bore Welding machine to help make jobs easier. A lot of the tooling has been shop made, modified or even adapted from the Elsa Lineboring tooling. We show the three different ways on how we setup the boring bar plus the tooling we use when line boring. We show a simple way to measure the bore using a snap gauge and how to advance the tool using a dial indicator. You will also see how we cut internal snap ring grooves using a Vertex (Wolhaupter style) automatic boring and facing head from a milling machine that was adapted for cutting snap ring grooves. We then give a rundown of the welding consumables and setup we use when we are bore welding with the Sir Meccanica WS2 machine.

Hey viewers hope you enjoyed this bonus video on the tooling we use for our Sir Meccanica lineboring and bore welding machine! We've had a heap of lineboring jobs lately so thought it was a good chance to show what we use to help make the jobs easier. 😎👍 P.S. There's your side line, Mate! Manufactured and marketed by your theoretical apprentice; one or more 'CEE Upgrade Accessories for the line borer. After market improvements for what appears already to be a great machine. I love that line borer. A versatile, compact and (apparently) robust machine that makes 'impossible repairs' possible and even straight forward, but only because CEE have stress tested every part. And made your own. Maybe other engineering firms have done the same, but I bet a lot haven't.
Keep doing what you are doing guys, I reckon you are becoming role models.

Glad you showed a close up of the snap gauging and set up rings, and of course all the shop made adaptations. You seem to have a steady stream of clientele which is a good sign of success. Keep making these excellent videos, it is a pleasure to watch competent work being done and always nice to see a wretched component to rise from the ashes and emerge "better than new!" Self made tooling is usually superior to standard production because of shortcomings experienced in applications not foreseen by engineers who design the products.
The things I have witnessed over the course of quiet a few years.
Great videos and I appreciate the time you guys put into making them.

Back when I worked for a living I worked for Alamo Machine and Engine Works (started as a blacksmith shop and progressed into the 20th Century). The old man who had started and ran the shop was long gone by that time. But, that shop did closer work with the most primitive tools imaginable. In their collection they had a "travelling shaper" that had a 24 inch stroke and a six foot range in width. The shop did allot of rock crusher work and dirt working machine repair, sewage pumps (long shafts that had to be straightened and not made new), shaft build up and machining, potable water pumps, truck flywheels and all of the other stuff f of actual industrial heavy work. Closest tolerances I ever held were in that shop. It was great. That machine in the video would have been great (or one like it) and with the great welders they already had on site: Even surface left by machine welding would have been far superior to having lumps, bumps and voids from erratic stick welding. It is a long night of work when a shaft or eye comes in at 4PM and you and a welder have to stay until the build up and machining is done. Great videos CEEA!

Like all kit that at first sight appears to be overly complex... But when it's properly explained by someone who's mastered its use... it's mysteries are revealed to just a bunch of simple things tied together. Enjoyed all the shop made elements, some driven by 'needs must' and others because the original part was bobbins... Great video CEE :)

Nice machine and a good explanation how it works. The own well thought and fabricated Add-On's are even better. Very impressive and although often there is said: "If it works, don't fix it" is not the case with this machine.
