As to why no one can recognize him, it's that in the manga he wears a mask but in the anime they didn't include it( propably to show his face expretions ). I think that the should make him wear that mask... you don't need to see persons face sometimes to know how they feel.
@@anos-ph2jc The source material is LN anyway It's confirmed fact by the director that it's because of budget problem and he ask the author if he can remove the masks and he agreed.
The purple light is the zone how wide he can destroy its not a barrier and cid just copy the move when they sparring with his acting girlfriend he use that move to show how strong and beautiful when he use the swordmanship style but cid fighting style is not like that he just copy it to show to his girlfriend while fighting.sorry if my english is hard to understand im bad in english language.

Just as a heads up for the “can’t they recognize him” part. In the Light Novel Shadow garden is wearing masks, and Shadow himself changes his appearance ever so slightly (such as height, hair length, ect, even as you guys noted his voice) Just enough so you wouldn’t be able to tell by his physique who he is. To my knowledge the author had a hand in the anime and thought going without the mask would work better in this style. Anyways, love the reactions as always! So happy you guys picked this up!
Apparently seeing their faces is just for us, the audience. In reality their faces look either black or red. I forgot which one. But it looks like a mask to them.

He says he like her swordstyle is not because he uses it too, it's because of the effort she put into that style without listerning to others talking down to her or comparing it to her sister. And Cid is the guy that appriciate effort with unwavering determination.
That and because he uses the same sword style. He literally says he uses a fencing sword style which is the same sword style she uses. Their swordstyles are similar but in this world fencing isn't really taught which is why lexia didn't see the potential of her sword style until she saw cid fight using It. That's why she was shocked seeing cid fight using a similar sword style yet do alot better against that guy than she did.

You should use earphones whenever you watch this show. The sound effect is badass.
Shadow/Cid’s Atomic skill has other purposes besides killing, like manipulation control and possibly even minor healing, and there may still be other effects he has yet to show. Also, his Atomic skills only target people based on whether they’re foes or an ally. So the reason why Alexia and any other civilian who may have still been in the city lived was that they weren’t perceived as an enemy and therefore were outside of the predetermined area of effect. Of course, this doesn’t include buildings or the surroundings, so anything in the range of his attack gets destroyed without hesitation.

Why would he do that?
1) cause it looks cool
2) cause it's a cliche and Cid loves cliches
Cid wants to showcase his awesome power but he never instigates to harm others or create chaos, instead out of coincidental circumstances which he meets along the way mixed with his strange dream of being Shadow he is able to help others and destroys an evil cult.
the reason they dont recognize faces like cids when he is shadow is because they where masks out of the slime they use, its in the manga and my guess is they stripped it from the anime so people know which member it is better. but from the characters perspectives they all wear masks and shadow has a full face shade infront of his face

Ok regarding the mask, when Cid is shadow no one can see his face under the hood because he hides it, it's only visible to the audience so we know what his expressions are under the mask, but in the manga he wore a mask but since they are taking mostly everything from the light novel he is not using one :)

Even though we (the viewer) can clearly saw Cid's face, from other characters in the anime can't actually fully saw his face since his hood is actually cover like half of his face, that's why when Shadow's wanted posters come out it doesn't show the full illustration of his face
(at least that's the most logical reason why nobody knows that Cid is actually Shadow)

Both in light novel and manga, Shadow face is completely can't be seen, it's pitch black with a red gleam eyes so no wonder everyone didn't know about Shadow identity, Cid is so good if it comes to undercover
Thats why most of people who already read the light novel and manga questioning why Shadow face at the anime is just like Cid with Shadow costume
And about the Atomic explosion, there is no victim except the enemy itself
Thats why Shadow put some kind of "barrier" just like he did for Alexia
I think they tried with his face being pitch black, but it didn't work in animation so they picked what looked good. I prefer seeing face with shade.

All of Shadow Garden are extremely strong because their slime suits/swords use 100% of their magic without losing any while regular swords only hold about like 30-50%(forgot the exact number) aside that the seven shades(Alpha,Beta,Gamma,Delta,Zeta,Eta,&Epsilon) have been practicing with Cid personally with swordplay and magic

One thing I have noticed is all the people who are attacked or experimented on are all women no men at all
Come to think of it yeah...
There's a reason for that, which will be revealed in an episode a bit farther along. Also of note is that the majority of the members of Shadow Garden are elves, with a smaller number of beast people, and even fewer humans. This mostly has to do with how long each race lives. Elves live the longest, so the amount of the cursed blood they have is greater than humans, who have gone through two or three times as many generations as the elves. So humans have a lower amount and are less likely to fall prey to the curse and become a cursed one. (Although it is still strong in the bloodlines of royalty, thus the cult's kidnapping of Alexia.) Beast people live longer than humans and less than elves, so they're somewhere in the middle.
