28:55 Apparently what happened here is that the explosion actually did happen, but Cid directed it to the sky instead. If you noticed it was cloudy before the explosion and then the sky cleared up after. The atomic spell blew the clouds around the area.

Also in the Light Novels (the ones that the anime adapt) Shadow and all the 7 Shadows use masks under their hoods. And also it is explained that whenever Cid changes into Shadow, he gets taller and his voice gets deeper.
I thought the masks was a manga thing and the LN had the dark shadowy cloud in his face

There is a reason why Shadow noted the Artifact Sword is mythril.
All materials have some degree of magical conductivity. Most don’t go higher than 10%. Mythril is highly sought after because it’s conductivity is 50%. There is only one material better.
Slimes have 99% conductivity. They basically use magic to keep themselves together. There have been attempts of using slimes as material, but it was soon deemed impossible.
Cid saw the memo and disagreed with the conclusions.

the catgirl around 26:30 is Zeta, shes part of Shadow Garden but we haven't seen that much of all its members yet.
Also, you can actually see Rose as part of Shadow Garden in Episode 1, after you get the monologue from cid about reaching human limits and surviving a nuclear bomb etc. a couple of those frames are with Rose (as 666), and 665 and 664 who are her teammates now.
If you rewatch the ending scene of episode 1, you see Shadow and Shadow Garden getting ready for an operation, you get a brief shot of Rose with short hair in her slime suit with her back turned from the camera.
cid is just showing to iris that even if the entire kingdom is his enemy he can just blow that entire kingdom up, and i just read this to other comments but they said that cid actually launches that atomic upwards which explains why the cloudy atmosphere cleared up because the kid cid in the flashback mouthed yamero instead of atomic because its not shadow like to do something so flashy like destroying a whole ass kingdom thats all

Most of Shadow Garden doesn't know Cid is Shadow. A need to know item, basically the 7 Shades and Gamma's group.
I think the final boss will be Aurora at 100% strength. Just a wild guess but I think she's the reason Cid was isekaied to Midgar.

Really think she had this planned out and I think Alpha got hold of a prophecy that describes something like the Sword of Diablos or something like that. She drops off too many "it's true Shadow you are.... " and she has to know Zeta is doing something - explains why she seems sad when talking to Gamma about her.
@skyking4557 But in LN 4 there are only a few more in Epsilon's crew who know Cid is Shadow. Once everything starts happening he's only seen as Shadow. Omega and Kai get to see him in both guises but they knew before the Bushin Fest. At the end of LN5 666 still doesn't have a clue.

Low Ranked members like Rose or the ones above her are currently nothing more than foot soldiers of Shadow Garden, so they won't know yet.
I wish they release 2nd season faster coz the next 2 arc the red moon and the banknote ( john smith ) arc is where you can see peak Cid in being the MOB he always portray 😂😂😂 and in those arcs

Actually the shadow garden consist now of 666 members(including rose). But sadly no one but the original members of shadow garden like named on the greek numbers like alpha beta and the rest not the numbers thingy are the only people who knows shadow. The rest was just recruited by alpha and the rest without the knowledge of cid(shadow) he didnt even know that shadow garden is expanding it’s member pool rapidly.

In the minute 25 or something, you can hear the mother of Cid actually cares about him not returning home and yells at her husband for only paying attention to Claire. So his family does not really ignores him as he stated.
Best bart about this anime. End of season cid really only uses about 10-20% of his full power

Iris is just absolutly down cuz she got COMPLETLY humiliated. First she lost to Shadow as Mundane Mann without landing a single hit while he beat her bare handed, AND THEN Shadow absolutely Anihilated both of them single handedly while Iris even was Using an Aritifact
