R5-D4, the "red" astromech, is from A New Hope. (He also appeared briefly in Rogue One, in the rebel hanger on Yavin 4). He was one of the last R5-series astromechs produced by Industrial Automaton, and being a low-cost model they were prone to malfunctions. When Luke and his uncle were trading with the Jawas', he was the first droid they picked that suddenly broke (he had a bad "motivator"), and then they picked R2-D2 instead. R5 purposely malfunctioned his motivator at the advice of R2-D2. So due to R5's sacrifice, R2 was able to save the Galaxy; since R5 knew R2-D2 already had the plans to the Death Star. So poor R5, due to a bad motivator, never got to go on a big adventure with Luke, stayed with the Jawas' on Tatooine for a time, then joined the Rebellion later. After the Battle of Yavin he ended up retired with Peli Motto.
Grogu has a new word he says "Badoo" said it when Mando pointed to Bo-Katans planet on the his radar. I love how they are having him be more vocal this season. As soon as he starts speaking full sentences, he's gonna talk Din's ear off lol
I really appreciate your knowledge and connections you make to the past shows/history of Star Wars when you watch these episodes. Makes your reactions x100 more relatable and meaningful. Love when a fan understands the deepness of what everything means!
“The songs of eons past foretold of the return of the Great Mythosaur that will herald the coming of a new age of Mandalore” I think that’s the OG Mythosaur, which is why it’s so big, and it was awoken by Din and Bo entering the waters (together they are Mandalore the Redeemer)
Actually the last time we saw Mandalore and the dome city of Sundari was in Star Wars rebels... When they blow up a star destroyer docked at the city... after sabine wren uses the dark saber To destroy that energy weapon that was destroying Mandalorian armor
The legendary stopmotion animator Phil Tippett is credited in this episode. The bio-mechanical creature looks what Phil had created in the past and his recent movie "Mad Dog" (see his Imdb).
Now the remnants of the empire or pirates are going to want that creature... Now they're going to have to defend it Mandalorians are gonna have to come together to fight them off ...
For dark scenes like this, i just turn off all the lights. I know you can't do that while recording reactions but may help you in your personal life. Also you can watch on your phone, under a blanket. 😃
Yes, Melissa, it was a special, impactful episode/Chapter. It was nice to see Din, Bo, and Grogu involved in an adventure of discovery together. Long live the return of The Mythosaur. Between the first 2 episodes of Season 3 of Mando and the entire Season 2 of The Bad Batch, Star Wars content in 2023 (and We KNOW Ahsoka and Skeleton Crew are going to add to the Sci-Fi/Fantasy Fair) could almost be titled, STAR WARS: Kaijus, Creatures, Mechs, and Dinosaurs! Yes, having knowledge of the Animated branch of Star Wars, adds to the live-action experience of The Mandoverse (w/ The Bad Batch doing the same in reverse; since We know We're most likely going to meet live-action versions of those characters, creatures, beings, planets, and locales, in the future).
So the reason about the amazing CGI effects to be that good this season because the main director was not being held back anymore by that upper management lady
The robot droid monster thing was totally weird! And was awesome! Grogu’s side quest was great! Love the fact he can process things like this on his own! Bo Katan showing her skills 🤯🤯 episode had everything!

If this episode was to dark for you, you probably need an OLED or at least IPS display. If you have any of that, you need to calibrate them then - this looked great for me.
Melissa I heard a theory about that scene with the Mythosaur that does make sense to me. The Mythosaur chose Din because Din's belief in the Creed is so strong that Mytho pulled him down to the bottom, you saw how long it took Bo to get to him and she jumped in immediately and he was already at the bottom and unconscious. Did you notice how laid back and calm the Mythosaur was, we know how big that creature is and he could have easily eaten Bo and Din in one bite. I have watched TCW and you're knowledgeable about it. Do you like this theory? Din with the Dark Saber and riding the Mythosaur would change everything.
So you know rubbish like Boonta Eve, but don't know R5 was the droid the Jawa's tried to flog to Luke and Owen, and that this whole episode with him, is a play on the line that he has a bad motivator? Deary me. ;) I've began to wonder with force pushes, that they must knock out ordinary foes who aren't force users; so perhaps the force wave not only pushes them back, but throws them into an unconscious state?
The creed just says Din has to keep his helmet on so where's our bath scene of him wearing nothing but his helmet Disney? Well, we're waiting?
You are asking all the important questions my friend.
The Mythosaur has now been upgraded to a Factosaur
Perhaps. If it wasn't a vision - which tbh I'd prefer.

That "little bug man" reminds me of the creature that grabbed Luke in the DS trash compactor in ep.4
Scavenger bot maybe?

It's the striking realism and believability that really get me.
It’s amazing
Lucasfilm: So how much budget do you need this time?
Filoni: Yes.
😂😂
"I didn't embarrass him in front of everyone." I wonder if that was also a subtle nod to Satine.
I hope Din and Bo learn from each other. Even though Bo doesn’t believe what Din does. I was happy she was willing to help him.
I think she greatly respects him and maybe even envies him.
They're going to wed and rule mandalore together with their small green child
@@stiffnastyz Don’t let Melissa hear you say that. She is apparently no fan of ships. lol 😃😃😃
You’re definitely right about how rewarding it is to watch everything relating to clone wars 👌🏼
r5 was the droid luke and uncle owen almost bought but his motivator short circuited
Thank you Cuz, watching someone so knowledgeable is such a pleasure to listen to and watch. Love your commentary, passion , emotion. Cheers Sis 🍻 👏 ✌️
Thanks!

My Daughter and I loved this ,Bo cares about Din,it's obvious
What do we do now? I thought this would be the culmination of the season not episode two! I'm so excited to see where we go now.
Bo and Din gonna bang
Din's still keeping the helmet on though. This is the Way.
😂😂😂
Bo definitely goes on top! :P

Grogu s first solo Adventure
“And with your spirit” 😂
😂😂
How can you not know R5-D4? 😮 "Uncle Owen, this R2 unit [Luke, tsk, R2...] has a bad motivator!"
Still has a scorch mark where that motivator blew up too

So many references in on episode
Amazing
So so so good!!!!!!!!

I think Bo-Katan always wanted to have a pony.

The next episode is 55min and 14 sec
Hype
Really? The music alone should have cued that it was the Mythosaur. I'm not trying to be mean or rude but wow.
