Alex has one hell of a business model. First he supplies the necessary tools to amateurs, who then mess it up, and have to pay Alex to fix their mistakes. 😁

I think the You tube tutorials it si a great Tool for tech. Specialized. Not for amateurs. That is what happens when You try to do what people have a Lot of years doing it.

I think people watch your video and say easy I can handle it just like Alex did. And when they mess things they send it to you. With your experience and tools, it looks like an easy job on the screen.
Absolutely Right! in video it's look easy, But when we do these things, we realize how difficult it is.😅
@Michaels Carport I had same problem, I was using low quality solder wire. After buying good solder wire+good flux and wicks, thing started to go very smoothly. It's also importat to add some low melt solder wire to the area first. Then Wicking becomes one of the most satisfaying job ever:D. There is Solder wire with 350c melting point and probably they are used in motherboards. Because they are more resistant to heat. That's why adding Low melt solder helps alot. Alex does it always.
this is a good business move. show it on youtube and repairs it like easy (which is not), they do it and f it up. send it to Northridge for a professional fix and cha ching 😃
@Michaels Carport No problem, When I saw your comment, I was thinking it's me six months ago😄. I'm using Stannol leaded solder wire with Weller Flux and wick.
I'd argue if you actually watch a lot of his repairs and properly listen to what he says, you can do it correctly after messing up a couple of times. I personally practiced on a couple of Raspberry Pi's until I got it right.
I'm watching this channel since 2018. As far as i can say is Alex is a good and humble person..

A lot of videos make this type of work look easy, not very many people talk about how much practice it takes to do it properly.

after i came back from the hospital i ended the battle confirming my defeat after electricity went through my body.

Alex, you should consider adding a clause to the service agreement saying there will be a fee for any device previously repaired by someone else. It might save you some hassle.

They already have a no fix charge. There is no downside to taking the product in and giving it a go, customer pays, may as well give them a chance.
That's also a double edged sword, because he could also lose Business that way too.
Job rate for repair $100/hr
If you watch $120/hr
If you help$150/hr
If you tried to fix it first $200/hr

Really have great respect for the patience and expert skills displayed here. Restoring what appears to be non-fixable, especially after less skilled repairmen have made a total mess of it, is truly amazing!

i dont understand how people screw up the repair this bad wen your videos show them exactly how to do the repair and wat it should look like. i used your videos and so far 19 PS5's later none of them have had issues.

Its becuase ppl watch your vids an you make it look easy but what they forget is that experts always make stuff look easy cus of years of experience
I have been fixing computers for 10 years and I finally gave in to a customer and did a PS5 hdmi. I was successful but will never do another one. People are failing because it is a super difficult repair. It was a huge PIA to get the original connector off and super difficult to get the tiny pins all connected. Not to mention the filter capacitor. I am lucky i didn't have to mess with broken traces or the diode and cap on the back.
I thought it looked too totally beyond repair at the beginning of the video. But this man is exceptionally clever. Great work.

I put sun block, don't want UV rays burning my retinas. Also turn on the fume extractor, don't want Alex's mother calling me asking why am I putting myself in danger.
Alex is losing a sales opportunity. Think of the UV glasses and fume extractors etc. you could sell to those viewers.

It seems like a blessing and curse having TH-cam University available to everyone. As you said, it used to be 1 or 2 out of 10 with customer attempted repairs. Now you are seeing 8 out of 10. This has to be form the modern age of information available to everyone. While it's an amazing service you and others provide, it must be a bit frustrating to see the half arsed works.
We need a shop like yours in every city

I've learnt a lot from these videos,the main one is "if I don't know what I'm doing, I don't do it".
I got inspired to get back in to soldering from your videos, tried repairing an ipod 30pin cable, was successful initially but then one of the pins broke out while I was testing the cable because I didn't give it any strain relief, tried a few more times and sacrificed the data cables to use as power and the same kept happening, I swear they made those adapters to not be repairable, that being said I know it's incredibly tedious to repair a cable plug so small but I still tried (and failed)
but it makes me appreciate how good you are at your job
I am no longer able to focus on such small things and my hands shake significantly which I can't seem to calm so I think I'll just leave it to the experts, microsoldering :D haha

I remember opening up a modded PS2 and it's crazy how much tinier everything is in person. It's a lot harder than it looks to solder.

Probably from falling off tables or people trip on the HDMI cable
bad design form the start, planned obsolescence, that connector should have been on a separate small board with a flex cable to the main board.
@@orange11squares No there is no room for that, All game consoles and Laptops its on board its user error and mistakes that breaks these soo often

Yeah, as already mentioned it might be worth having a statement about prior repair attempts. It should really cost more when you have to fix someone else's mess. You do an excellent job showing how you do it and then the customer thinks they can do it. Learning is great, but they have to practice first before a connector attempt!

I learn so much from this friend just watching his videos. unfortunalety, here in Portugal, they dont give a lot of credit in electronic repairs. That's why it is very dificult for me to get the tools that i really want. In time, i have bought a lot from my own pocket and i must one of the very few that do micro soldering in Portugal. I am in the wrong country, i guess. :) Thanks Alex, for your time and your know How.

and secondly
it's so great seeing some of those consoles/gpus/random hardware, so abused, finally getting a shop that doesn't destroy it more than fix it.
it's great content, and you are really good at fixing things
I mean...
1) people watch your videos
2) when something breaks they are motivated to try and fix it themselves
3) they start it
4) they realise they dont have the necessary equipement to do it
5) they send it to you
6) the cycle repeats 🤣🤣

i love the way you work bro, meticulous and detailed like i would dop, still learning, some college mostly self taught but my issue is getting the money for all the tools needed, ya NEED the right tools to do IT right.

My local small engine repair shop has a sign on the wall.
Labor rates:
$30 per hour
$40 per hour if you watch.
$50 per hour if you help.
$90 per hour if you tried to fix it first.
Size comparison of capacitor vs thumb... all that more impressive for the difficulty level of these repairs.
