You're mentioning rend with stormvermin, you need to take them in the claw horde battle formation to always be at -2 rend, getting them to -3 rend with the warpstone charm on a verminlord nearby, they hit like a truck and with the +1 to wound it's going to be mad output, you just need to protect them with screens and three clawsteps ahead which people don't do! They just shove them up front and not wait for the right opportunity to charge, it's all about positioning and clanrats
Back when Skaven got their 7th ed codex it caused a lot of issues with the core rules because the rules that were still there had their wording changed to be less clear for no apparent reason and some of the new rules were as written incredibly abusable. The Panic FAQ that came out fixed some stuff but it was over all a painful experience.
Looking forward to playing visick surrounded by stormvermin, you should be able to block off most of a units attacks with the stormvermin then drop his rampage meaning the enemy unit will only get a few attacks at visik before you hit them with halberds.
Thanks for this great review. One thing I would like to see tho is the contents page so that I can get a rough idea on how much lore, art, photos and other goodness is in there. Because I am not going to buy this book for the rules. I am looking at battletomes / codexes more as a comprehensive intro guide to said army rather than a rule book. So it really matters to me how expansive the "fluff" parts are. (If the page was shown and I missed it please link me to the specific part of this video. I catched a glimpse at 1:14 but that was unfortunately not enough.)
also, why? they have a 6" move, so what's the point of giving them +6" to range if they stay still, since there's no bonus to hit if they stay still why would you the range comes out the same in you move them up 6" inches and you will probably be able to line up better shots, so why give them the + 6" to range if they stay still. makes no sense at all.
@@jeffwatson7345 Because Skaven were clearly dominating the meta and jezzails were completely broken, wiping the floor at every tournament so needed to be kept in check and made more boring. Right?! RIGHT?! 🙄 There needs to be less inbreeding in GW..
im hoping to find a way to run some globadiers cause the models are excellent! They can dish out some solid damage against infantry and the book gives them the champion keyword for 1 more attack.
i guess with the warpgrinder you pop in, shoot, then clean up with the grinder itself. Im a lil more inclined to pair the WG with stormfiends, since you then have the option to just grinderfist in on an off turn if the ambush doesnt happen
@jordanbusch6588 that is definitely fair. Just trying to think of ways to get the globadiers up there and that one stood out since they were right near each other in the video.
@@chriscrane1482 the gnawholes can get em in shoot range as well. Definitely could be worth trying the WG, just gotta be a bit careful. Tho i had good experience with the acolyte's 2 wounds
Thank you for the coverage. This has to be the most disappointing battletome for me yet. All, the flavorful, fun, crazy things deleted. Lost a ton of caster levels, even on our "master" wizard, the grey seer. Actually, all the foot heroes feel worse. The engineer a sniper? Huh? Where is Eshin, Pestilens? Whoever wrote the Skaven for this edition does not understand Skaven. At all. As this is the only AOS army I play, this feels like an entirely different game. For me and my usual opponents. I really, really, want the 3rd edition Skaven back. Gonna be a long 3 years.
@@dantheultimate2497 you’re not wrong, but 3x30 unbreakable Slaves and 3x30 unbreakable Clanrats were always a way to halt most players in their tracks
GW has intentionally changed AoS into a giant monster slapfight. Essentially, the fewer models you bring, the better your "army" is. It's not a wargame.
I'm grossly disappointed by the battletome. I love all the new models they brought in but the battletome is just a waste of paper. They added literally nothing other than warscrolls for new minis. I was expecting them to flesh the army out, offer more options, have interesting and viable armies of renown. Instead we got no expansion on the rules and the armies of renown are pretty pointless despite the moulder one being somewhat entertaining on paper. What even is the point of "choosing" your prayer lore and spell lore if there is only ever 1 choice?! Not to mention the choice of artefacts and heroic traits being as bad as the variety in choice at a UK general election... >.>
a good note for the plague pack, they are priests, and they are the only priests under 240 pts for skaven.

Worth mentioning that Vizzik Skour can activate the Death Frenzy prayer on any hero phase, meaning getting to that 8+ is a lot faster.

Missed a big change to Jezzails. They lost 6" to their default range :( Went from 24 to 18. They also have a champion so 7 attacks a unit.

@@arthusii3024 none of these changes are in response to results. These rules were probably finalised to be sent to the printers last year.

They might be good paired with the warp grinder. Pop up in combat, shoot and hopefully do the needed damage.

I’m sad looking at this. No Clan Eshin detachment, and another big push for those big centerpiece models. I miss the days of 180+ models on the board.
Primarch style center pieces sell really well. Most people probably don't feel like painting houndreds of infantry models.
