She’s not in southern Jamaica that is lower sea level and she seems to be in a stable establishment, which the LOCALS (like my FAMILY) don’t have the luxury of having. Hurricane season is June 1 to November 30, so it's quite likely that if you're on summer vacation you can get stuck in Jamaica. My sister and her husband were scheduled to return from their vacation today but they will have to ride it out. Those large hotels are in sturdy & safe structures. Once they stay inside & windows are shuttered they will be fine.

Theyre from my hometown. They were informed in time, but waited too long to book a flight out, before the airport shut down. In emergency cases, cruise ships could & should volunteer to help evacuate, & transport people to a safer location.
